Thanks Bryce
I am excited to be the new commissioner for the league. I will be sending out an email later today with some updates and with the salary cap rule proposal!

Thank you all for getting MLB and MiLB cuts in before deadline.
Couple league notes/updates.
We will not be starting the draft late February/early March as one of the managers will be on vacation for the bulk of February and I do not want him to be thinking about fantasy baseball drafts
One other note, I will be stepping down as commissioner effective today. Abe (Wacha Me Win) will be taking over as main point with Ryan still acting as co-commissioner.

Welcome to the league Joe! Our league has been around for a while and has quite a few special rules Such as 5MiLB. If you have a question about anything you can reach out to me or the commissioners!
-
Everybody welcome Joe! Are new league member and diehard Kansas City Royals fan. He's an Ottoneu newcomer so please be nice to him!
-
I vote no to reversing any past transactions.
-
My opinion would be to leave the decision to the new owner
-
If anyone would like to change their vote given this conversation, you are certainly free to do so.
So far it is 3 (Nate, Jack, Gunnar,) in favor and 2 (Abe/Ford) against.
So certainly a tight discussion.
I get both sides! I just personally feel that if a team makes changes to their roster in the offseason and bolts two months later, that’s unfair to the new guy, who would not have made that move. If the new guy wants to make that trade, he still can.

I feel like this shouldn't even be up for a vote honestly. Like Bryce said I would reconsider cuts that were made, but it wouldn't make sense to reverse a trade.
-
Excellent abstention.
-
To be clear, this would be my decision regardless of if I was involved in the trade or not. I think setting precedence of retracting moves made by previous managers during a managerial transition is dangerous.
I am good with whatever the league votes on, but just needed to share my thoughts.
Thanks all!
-
Also this trade went through with no issues, 2 vetoes only. Why are we suddenly allowing a new manager to come in and make a change? Kevin did not sabotage his team and then leave. People didn't have enough issues at the time to overturn the trade, why suddenly are we allowing it now?
That being said, I'm leaving it up to the league to vote and will abide by the rules.
-
Even though I'm abstaining from voting, I feel it's necessary to hear my POV as well.
Similar to what Abe said, this move was made 2 months ago, assumedly prior to any decision he made on the upcoming season. If this move was made much sooner to his exit, I could understand, but I definitely have made roster decisions based on this trade from 2 months ago.
I'd be in favor of him reversing any cuts that were made, but I have a hard time going back 2 months and letting ne
-
I am against resetting the roster. More likely than not, Kevin made those moves in the best interest of his team for 2025. Then he just decided he didn't want to Ottoneu for whatever reason. If the new owner and Bryce want to figure something out that should be up to them. Also, Bryce has made moves since then which could have been based on that move with Kevin
-
I agree I'm generally against resetting a roster but also seems fair given the old owner committed to the 2025 season then backed out a few months later
-
I'm generally against resetting a roster unless collusion of some sort could be proven and also against the salary cap. But to be clear, I won't quit the league or something if it passes
-
let him reset the roster
-
I'd be fine allowing the new manager to decide on any roster moves made in the offseason
-
Looks like it was just the one trade with Bryce. I could understand if they would want to renegotiate and I would be alright with that.

Essentially, this would allow the new owner to undo a trade he did not choose to execute prior to taking over his roster.
I will let you all decide whether or not you think that's fair, or if it's bad precedent, since the initial trade wasn't vetoed in the league.
-
Kevin (Sale's Throwbacks) has orphaned his team. I'm wondering how the league feels about allowing the new owner to "reset" their roster retroactive to any moves made this winter, since the new guy wouldn't have had a say in those moves. Obviously, it's never happened before, but I wanted to put it out there for a vote.
Bryce and I will abstain from any voting as Co-Commissioners. would need a 5-4 majority to pass.

I think that this is more likely if a team were to have $500 in cap on August 30th and then were to cut back to $475. Either way, the rule is still helping to keep the salary down while penalizing the player if he can't get below the cap.

First off, I think it'd be pretty rare for a guy to go over $600 in salary cap. However, If he decided to cut $125 worth of players August 31st the rest of the league would be able to get them through the waiver wire starting at half price beginning September 2nd. Odds are these cut players would be "keepers" for many of the teams especially after the bidding would start at half price.

Instead of "if you finish the season over $475" I think it should be "if you have over $475 salary on September 1st". This would be an easy time for you or Bryce to look at it because it coincides with the September Sprint for the 5MiLB Draft. This would prevent someone from getting under the $475 cap and avoiding the penalty by cutting a $75 Mike Trout (for example) at the end of September when the season is pretty much over.
-
What happens when the standings are wrapped up and the guy with a $600 salary isn't playing for anything the last 3 weeks and just cuts everyone to get under the $475 cap?
-
I love this Abe. Should it be written as “if you finish the season over $475”? So we don’t have to legislate anybody that goes over in the middle of the season? I’m fine with whatever.
I think capping folks at $400 for the next year max sense. Prevents from doing it repeatedly
-
$475 salary cap. If a team goes over $475 in salary cap for one season that team is only allowed a salary cap of $400 for the next season.
This is a little different that what Tom and Ryan talked about penalizing the team by having them start at $375 where theoretically then, that team could still go over the $475 salary cap annually which kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion. I would still be in support of the $375 rule though if people can agree on that.

Lets get some discussion about the salary cap going. I agree with Tom and Ryan about if you go over the salary cap it should affect your salary for the next year. Instead of the penalty affecting your starting salary for the next season, I think it should affect your maximum salary for the entirety of the next season. Here is what I propose:

I suppose it does say before MLB draft.
However it makes more sense to do the cuts before MiLB, so we know what teams have space for five roster spots.
-
This was posted on 12/4:
Let's consider the MiLB proposal complete.
5 man rosters
No trades of picks (players ok?)
2025 draft as-is. Must cut down to 5 players via trades/promotions/cuts before MLB draft. All those cut will be available to be drafted during MLB draft and auctioned during season
2026 draft and beyond will remain as-is. 2026 with trades as they are, but no more trading of picks.
-
I thought we didn’t have to cut our minors rosters down to 5 until after the minors draft. This based on conversations from early Dec. Did that change?
-
Milb moves:
CUTTING: baez, brown, perciado, Sanchez
-
I agree we need to start the cap discussions ASAP. I would endorse something like Tom's idea of it affecting your cap number for next year, if you go over. But if we can't come to some sort of consensus soon, we might just have to go with the status quo.
