• I knew the draft date was today, I just didn't know that cuts would be locked, I assumed the draft was for new minor league players. I've never done a salary cap/dynasty league, still figuring out how the whole system works.

• Yes -- sorry. When the cuts deadline was going on I was taking on a new position and moving across the world, literally, I live in Japan now. And to be honest a lot of things fell to the wayside. If you all have an issue with me making the cuts now then I understand. I will take the weight back on. Don't want to be seen as having some sort of advantage. The other teams got new owners so they get to make cuts regardless.

• Yeah, there would be, a $450 hard cap would allow flexibility to loan and borrow in more ways to stay below the cap while also allowing rebuilding teams to make loans to everyone without limit.

• You may be right Bombs, but there's also the argument that some teams can build a pennant roster with so many loans, saw a guy in one of my leagues with 300$ in loans plus his 400$ = 700$, so the 450$ limits the loans, it wasn't suggested that we start with 450$, we go with 400$ but you can't go over 450$ with loans during season. I'm OK either way

• Bombs, I don't think I've explained the $450 cap well enough. Right now the in-season cap is essentially unlimited, but you have to cut it back to $400 during the off-season. I'm wondering if we can change the amount you can go over the cap during the season from unlimited to $450. You still have to get back down to $400 after the season ends.

• I'm firmly against raising the cap $50 in a league that has been around for years where teams have built and operated their rosters around the $400 cap Ottoneu has set forth. It would essentially be a bailout for top teams that are already needing to make decisions about cap space this offseason.

• We do this in a football league we're in for a long time and the hard cap is a good idea for the mentioned reasons especially after two owners in a row. $450 would make sense to us too and its easy to manage around in practice.

• $136 to that Front Row team, yeesh. And the previous owner in 2020 did the exact same thing. Def need a cap on loans if we are looking to prevent that. Wouldn't be a big deal if their weren't people who just wanted to come in for only a year, do that, then leave.

• Yeah I agree with you Bombs, don't want to raise the 400 cap, but it's not a hard cap. I'm not sure if Ottoneu allows this but a 400 normal cap and an actual hard 450 (in-season, 1 year) cap would be my preferred option. I'm just not sure a trade cap helps or would work. Looking at all 2021 trades with a loan over $20 we have:
  $40 Bombs to Prestige
  $56 Bombs to Front Row
  $26 LTP to Bombs
  $24 Papi to LTP
  $24 Dirtbags to Front Row
  $26 Wookie to Pedroia
  $56

• We already have a “hard” salary cap of $400. Loans are an integral part of this platform, but the function has been abused. We can’t change the overall salary cap now as teams have been planning and building around the $400 for years, it would just give an unfair advantage to those at the top who already roster very expensive player (which they now can’t afford due to heavy loan use). We have to find a happy medium.

• I like the cap idea, but why not just institute a hard salary cap of like $450? I feel like the loan cap could prevent legitimate trades while an overall salary cap will be what really prevents buying a championship.

• Well, I was talking about 25$ maximum loan per trade so it could be a maximum of 50$ per season (as an example - it could be 10 loans of 10$ (100) or 1 of 25, 3 of 20 and one of 15, etc.)

• Definitely agree on loan cap. $25 is probably too low, but I know the last two years that one team had taken well over $100+ in loans. So maybe something in the neighborhood of $40-50?

  One thing I am thinking about is considering a cap on loans. As someone pointed out we have had basically one-and-done owners that come in with this strategy of taking on loans to try and buy a championship then abandoning the team. I am not trying to put a hard number out there yet, just want to see what others think and then we could come up with a solid number/plan.
