Thanks Swanson for mistake proofing MiLB. Some of these guys really didn't know how to handle it.

Otherwise known as the MIDWEST SWING restricted list!
Also, I can speak from experience here that the team's that trade away their young talent for a title run DO NOT get anything near as good as those players back in the off-season. All the expensive players get more expensive and most have to be cut back into the pool.
-
Sorry to interrupt, but just wanted to point something new out. You will no longer be able to start auctions for players on a MiLB roster. I've added all players to the new Restricted List, which you can find on the main league page titled "Restricted Players". It has the player name, and I added the team they were rostered for in the note area. Just wanted to point it out since we've had it pop up a few times so that should prevent it from this point on!
-
He would be at almost $600 in the offseason. He cant keep all that. So what does he do? He goes and trades Harper for 2-3 good young $5 guys and does that with 2-3 other of his highest priced guys and all of a sudden hes got a pretty full team of studs and is under $400 because people will always try and trade for them. People always bail out the high salary guys in the offseason. So they get the benefit of the High $ player now and then get the benefit of trading him too. They don't lose

Oh I fully understand its easier to give a full loan. But why give one? I've got players they want. But players I am also happy keeping. I am selling but i'm not going to make the league harder to win next year but just giving away loans.
I want to preface this by saying there is nothing wrong with what everyone is doing. This is just how I see loans.
Midwest has $132 in loans right now. Lets say he wins the league and probably takes on another player or 2 with another say $60 in loans.

Well, good luck with that. I still don't understand it from a standpoint of wanting to make your team better for next year, but to each their own.
-
If anyone wants one of my high priced guys, I'll give a full loan to get a better player :)
-
And I'm not saying I won't give out some loan. I'm just not going to hand out a $40 loan to get someone. In selling I'm also looking out for the league. Cause all that will happen is after the season the guy with a $600 salary will just trade away the high cost guys I dealt them. So they will win the league and then get pieces back in the offseason. Plus its June. When most guys sell and give loans its August. So whoever gets my guys has 2 extra months which should be worth the extra.

To not dilute the league by just offering huge loans and have teams with salaries over 5-600.

Can I ask the strategy in not offering loans for high priced players if you are selling? I admit I don't understand the logic and am just curious.
-
If you are wanting one of the high priced guys you will need to come close on making the salary work without loans. Which means trading more people. Fair warning.

I am officially selling. Looking to move some high priced guys. I will NOT be offering big loans back. There may be some room to work on cash. But not going to give out alot of cash. The top guys will take some good young pups. All offers welcomed.

Regarding the gambling thing, there are many leagues that handle the buy-in outside of Ottoneu, which I imagine will happen more with the new payout levels. The previous levels were $300/$100/$50, while the new levels are $300/$50/$0. I prefer the old because it gives more teams an incentive to compete further into the season. If handled outside basically we'd renew at $20 league then use Paypal essentially as an escrow account at and end of year settle up, which gets around the state payout ban
-
I'm guessing I am in. Hate to let someone else reap the (potential) rewards of this rebuild.

I have two $10 leagues and with them moving to $20, I think it makes sense for me to consolidate into one and pay $50. My initial thought was to get enough owners out of the two to start a new league but I’m open to this one switching as well.
-
I will be staying in. But I will be dropping the other Ottoneu league I'm in that's a LOT less active
-
I'd probably still be in for $20 even $50. My only hesitance for $50 is if I could even get paid due to living in Iowa. I know some laws are going to be changing with the new gambling stuff but Its still technically illegal for me to profit from fantasy sports here. If the site will still pay me I don't care. No one is going to come after me for it.

Couple of different things. One, we can maintain at the level now and go to $20/year. I imagine we will lose a few members with the change, but hopefully not as as overall this is a pretty solid group with people being active and responsive. Also an argument to be made that at $20, it’s worth going to the $50 tier which adds two payout tiers. I imagine we lose more than just a few, but there’s an argument there to be had so just opening it up. What are everyone’s thoughts on the matter?
-
I’ve honestly been waiting on Niv to bring some clarity to the issue...alas he’s Niv. So for anyone who hasn’t seen, Ottoneu entry leagues have gone from $10/year to $20/year. While the advantages to Ottoneu are clear in the sense that the dynasty format is overall better here, I understand if that is too rich for your blood.
-
So, do we want to discuss the price changes for 2019? I feel like it could impact this season if anyone chooses not to come back next year based on the increase.

It probably is worth coming up with a semblance of punishment for multiple infractions, but not going to do anything right now because I don’t like retroactively implementing rules. Also, a reminder for everyone to please put your MiLB roster on the trade block for quick reference.
-
OK, so that was me because of course it always is. I apologize again. What should my punishment be? I propose that I lose a MiLB draft pick next year.

I’m assuming Cavan Biggio also plays with a dirty helmet that will then allow him to be extremely overvalued for his entire career? Aka the equivalent of the “gritty, coach’s son” in basketball?
