Hartford Dark Blues's trade block has been updated!

I believe the best way to deal with the Empty Team is just to have them come to the draft and, with their complete $400 budget, stock their team. I think enough players will shake out from this year. This is also an argument for allowing any and all new teams to also do allocations, to get more players to shake out. cheers, Jean Segura.

I'm just back from a whirlwind holiday tour of Massachusetts and catching up to all I have missed. To the Hartford Blues: Yes, we need at least 1 new owner and possibly 3. So you may direct your candidates to look at the league and then contact me at dcrowell@berkeley.edu. The Yaz Cats' brother-in-law has not signed up yet for the Familia team he said he wanted. The Empty Team and Mookie & Familia are attainable.

Hi Folks: Remember, some more allocations are coming. Sorry about that. We are NOT adding any salary money to the dudes who have been traded, such as Lindor. But I have allocations from 3 of us that I need to upload. Promise to do it in the next 24 hours.

That's right. Mr. Pike!
Is the league looking for two more owners? I know a couple good competitors. No promises, but I'll try. If someone takes over the empty team, are they at a disadvantage come draft day? Or will enough people be cut to roster a decent squad?

Matt Hololiday, the new guy and I all need to do allocations, hopefully before end of month. Sorry for f'ing that up. With only 11 teams, a little extra money will be handed around, which is fine because maybe a couple more good players will shake out for the team replacing the Empty Slot. Not sure if the Mookie replacement should get to allocate.

There is another person who has shown some interest in the league though in the meantime. I do suspect we can reconstitute around the healthy bunch of competitive teams -- we have 7 or 8 of those. Let's see if we can find some new competitors.

I think that arb problem can be rectified via commissioner tools. It definitely appears that we have several abandoned teams, however. Not sure of the status of Matt Hololiday. Maestro, Mookie & La Famillia have given up their ghosts. So sad.

CRUD! Really I have been so bloody busy but today was the big deadline so finally I got past the craziness. But when the kids finally went to bed and I got to sit down and look at the arbitration situation - - it was then that I realized that Ottoneu runs on East Coast time. Meaning the arbitration period had ended an hour or two earlier.

I've been so busy I haven't done my arbs yet. However I'll do them today. Not sure what to do about the moribund teams at this point. We need a couple of replacements - - I think people tend not to want to join if they see there are a couple of teams that need to be picked up. So there's a bit of a Catch-22 on that. I think eventually spots will be filled. There have been a couple of nibbles but so far no one has jumped in the boat. more latte, segura.

Hey folks! Hope all is well. Just a quick reminder that arbitration ends tomorrow and I'm pleading for those teams who haven't yet allocated your $25 to do so asap! Remember, you must use all of your $25 for any of your allocations to count. To divvy up that $25, you must allocate $1-3 per team. So yeah, please do it now if you haven't! Arbitration can make the league much more competitive. Thanks!
-
For anyone who might be viewing this league with the idea of possibly joining: -- 2018 will be our 3rd season. It's been very competitive but we're currently looking for at least 2 new players-- teams currently available are Mookie In The Middle and La Familia. We'd love to have some new blood. If you wish to start from scratch, there is an empty slot available. (We may continue as an 11 team league, it's been good so far).

Dear Friends -- as you may already be aware, the arbitration period has begun! You have 'til Nov. 14th to jack up the salaries of your co-competitors in the league. Thanks to the Aussies who've already plugged in their numbers.

btw seems like all the wheeler-dealers made good this season with their season. perhaps this is the style of GM that will prevail. Seems the Papi really improved his team for the future too via the trade route. I'm not sure when allocations are due but I suppose that will be the next big thing on the schedule.

It was a fun season though not as fun as last year with my lame 2017 play. Congratulations to all the winners. Yaz Cats, that was a rather impressive showing. And our Aussies, Pujols & Puig put together excellent teams as well. Your monies are on the way to you as we speak. Thanks to all and my co-commissioner Papi who is nice. I've got to run. Enjoy the post-season and we'll be in touch.

I also realize now that folks can have different priorities. And there are different strategies regarding how aggressively to pursue prospects or surplus assets, what percentage of a team to devote to roster assets vs regular players, etc. So for some we might think, "Hey I can get 2nd place by picking up some replacement guys. I'm gonna go for it." But for others, I see now that might not be the goal. So anywho, enough for now. Everyone have fun watching the end of the season!
-
We definitely do want people to be generally active and not just disappear. I know that Maestro has been extremely busy in life during the season, too, which has made it difficult for him to engage as much as he'd like. But yep, he's a friend and we can communicate with him, unlike La Familia who went totally AWOL! So yeah, let's celebrate a fun season and look forward to some new teams and an interesting off-season. Thanks everyone!
-
Okay, let's end the season positively here! Puig, there's certainly no way you're equated with the "inactive" group and there's no reason to question your commitment. I can understand tension between grabbing players to go for a higher finish and building for the future. Because Ottoneu is a true dynasty league and different from most others, it does require a different mindset if you want to be competitive in the future. That's probably hard for some people to grasp.
-
Granted, it’s a hard to decision to make as a commissioner, but it is your duty, and pretty much everyone I know in the Ottoneu community has had to deal with this problem at one stage. However now that the season is finished, I hope Maestro can make a great return to the league, and be active over the offseason, and I look forward to the new owners coming in and being a great addition to our league.

I don’t think I deserve to be questioned about my inability to meet an innings cap, it’s not a rule of the game, but I think someone who can’t even spare 2 minutes over a period of a month should definitely be questioned about their commitment. Nathan and I are commissioners of a league, and we have kicked two players from our league this year for being inactive, and they weren’t even on the level as some of the guys in this league.

However, no one is forced to do this, like I wasn’t forced to acquire replacement level pitchers on the wire and drop valuable places just to go from 3rd to 2nd.But there is a major difference between me and the ‘inactives’. I log into Ottoneu every day without fail. I set alarms at 2am, 3am, 4am just so I can set my lineups, I’ve logged in to respond to and send trade offers (even if barely anyone wants to trade), I’ve started and bid on auctions, I’ve kept my roster legal.
Bloominati🌹 on
September 29, 2017 6:54 PM

Which brings me to the point that this isn’t a one-year league, it’s a dynasty league. I don’t expect everyone to be 100% competitive for the season, if you think that you don’t understand Ottoneu. But you have to be active year round. If you are at the bottom of the standings, you should be trying to acquire surplus assets for the next season, maybe gamble on a couple of prospects or late bloomers. You don’t just reset the next season, and it’s an even playing field.

For me I executed my plan perfectly, I will finish the season “in the money” (which I wanted) and I haven’t negatively impacted my chances next season. If you haven’t logged in for over a month, now that’s negatively impacting your team for next season.

That’s good that Maestro is going to be back next season, that’s all I wanted to know. Let me clear some things up for you Dave. I made a choice not to go for second place. I had no chance of making first cause Yaz Cats did an amazing job at building a powerhouse. Out of the four leagues I'm in, his team has scored the most points. Since I had no shot at first I didn't want to go all in for second place, when I can use my valuable assets next season as for me it’s kind of first or bust.

Though the spirit is there in April & May, sometimes it's just not your season, and you have to regroup. I've seen much worse non-participation. I must run. Carry on. Cheers to all the top finishers. You shall receive your winnings probably the day after the season! It's been fun even though my team --and this is not surprising-- has been very mediocre in year 2. Finishing 4th is miraculous.

I do hope everyone who is here will stay with the league, but of course there is no obligation. You pays your money and you plays. I can't make anyone pitch all their innings. I'm a competitor so I tend to never slack -- but even I have relaxed things a bit lately -- a tiny bit. I have never been in a fantasy league where you have 100% battling competitive teams. It really doesn't happen.

Just please manage your own team, this is what I ask. Maestro Babies is a friend from way back and we aren't worried about him. But you yourself could have taken second place--! That seems crazier than some of us who are out of the race loosening the reins toward the end of the season.

Was just asking the question, nothing personal. I've already explained to you personally Dave why my innings are low (even though I'm projected for more now than I was a few months back) but I dont think that has anything to do with the simple question I asked.

I suggest everyone just worry about their own team, ok? The fellow who is projected to throw about 1330 innings shouldn't be policing anyone else's activity level in the league.
