Andy you’re all good. It definitely falls on me for not checking my roster.
This 5milb throws a huge wrench into commish duties. I know if I was running it, it would all fall apart as there’s no way I’d be tracking entire league’s minors roster to alert them upon call ups.

My repeated apologies to the league for the errors, especially our newer owners. I promise that terrible commissioneering will improve in 2019 to its traditional halfway-decent standard.

This is correct, unfortunately. Diaz was not added to Yips' roster when 5MiLB call-ups were made, so I missed him for the ineligibles list. Urban Achievers is back on the clock for 1.6.

I suppose this means I need to do some MiLB draft prep, huh?
-
All righty-- draft will start anytime after midnight eastern time on Friday night with the Temerant Arcanists. Everyone has a 24-hour to make a pick before the next team(s) can start jumping the spot. Please make picks here on the main board as not everyone in the league is on Slack.

This is results-oriented solution to solve for an imperfect process, and is not a precedent for the future. Hopefully we don't need to disperse ever again, but if we do, I will be mindful of positioning new owners up front. Once again, apologies for my oversight when recruiting our new guys, who we love very much! (Except for Justin, for obvious reasons.)

Highlights: Dispersal teams picking 6-7-8, snaking in each room based on dispersal draft first round position. The currently ownerless L7 Weenies drop to last pick in each round. Net is that Weenies, Ding Dong, and Urban Achievers shift down. All holdover teams either hold or improve positioning.

In the future, we will come up with a logical method that we can advertise in advance of owners joining. I failed by not covering that base this time, which I apologize to the entire league for. While this will result in a solution for this season that is not strictly logical, I think that I have come up with an idea that will have almost no downside for individual owners, and help a few out. I will broadcast that tomorrow after a little extra thought. Thanks for everyone's patience ITM!

Sorry- look, I have 1 pick & it's a Top 3 so I dont have a dog in this fight; my interest is in precedent & preserving the league's established MiLB method. Averaging out the new team's standings last year makes no sense (it's different owners, different rosters, & will be a different auction draft with the reallocation of values) & it penalizes owners who are already established in the league league more than it rewards the new ones & I doubt a few picks
-
I don't see how moving to the end of each round is "unfair" or a "penalty" when this discussion is based on the fact that the new owners didn't inherit the rosters for the teams they're assuming control of. I took over my roster a year ago *without* the option of choosing other team's players (and VALUES!!) to build from. I think the dispersal draft was enough of a reward or "break" for the new owners; why shouldn't a better MiLB pick be their carrot to stick with u
-
Unfortunately, I don't know that there is a perfectly fair solution, and in the interest of preserving minority rights, I will likely be issuing a unilateral, fast-track proposal to proceed, rather than holding a vote. Emergency powers! This will likely take advantage of the ownerless state of the L7 Weenies, who will have a proxy drafter for 5MiLB this year. (Apologies to the future owner of that franchise.)

Saratoga’s suggestion seems fair to me, 6-7-8 (in reverse order of the dispersal draft maybe?). That seems as close as possible to the way it’s been done in the past. It doesn’t seem fair to me that us new owners would be penalized for the dispersal draft or for prior owners not sticking with the league. That said, I’ll be fine with whatever is decided.
-
End of each round seems a little steep, no? I can see the end of the first round or something like that, but not every round.
-
The Yips & I didn't have the opportunity of building our incoming roster with a dispersal draft when we joined last year (nor has any other replacement?), so I think that it's most fair to the rest of the league if all three are moved to the end of each round. Let a better MiLB Draft pick be the reward for sticking with the league next year. As for their order, could you mimic the dispersal draft order someway?
-
And the owners who finished 2nd through 5th (and thus would have picked 8th-11th) all move down one slot.
-
Ugh. I keep screwing this up - the original 6th PICK would move up to 4th, and original 7th pick would move up to 5th. Then the new owners would pick 6-7-8 in some order.
-
Actually, revising that - since there would then be no 4th or 5th place teams, the 6th place finisher would move up to 4th, etc., and our teams would pick 6th, 7th, and 8th, with the original 7th place team picking 5th. To me, that would be a good solution.
-
The teams that composed the pool we selected from would have picked 4th, 5th, and 12th - so on average, we would have picked 7th ((12+5+4)/3 = 7). If the 3 of us picked 8th, 9th, and 10th in some order, that to me would be the fairest thing, given how the system is designed. In any case, the 3 new owners should obviously pick consecutively, since we selected players from the same pool. I could see cases made that we should have the top 3 picks, or the last 3 picks.
-
It has been noted, fairly, that the layout of the dispersal teams in the 5MiLB draft order is not entirely equitable, since these teams are not the same as the ones that finished in their respective 2018 places. If anyone has any elegant solutions to that which won't disrupt the holdovers significantly, I am all ears. Happy to conduct a vote if we have alternatives.
