What KML isn't mentioning is that Arb $ would greatly impact the imbalance in the league. 2 seasons ago only 4 teams participated in the draft resulting in some insane player values. Most of the top teams in the league are the teams that participated in that draft. If you go $ over vote off the league would be in a fairer place for competition for all rather than some of the teams who are bottoming out currently.
-
The advantage of this method is that teams with a number of undervalued players will likely be assigned more money that teams with already expensive (or just worse) players, so it's a quicker method of balancing team strengths. The downside is that team managers have uncertainty over their budgets going forward, so building a dynasty is more difficult. It also reduces the award for snapping up a young talented player on the cheap, since they are more likely to be given arbitration dollars.
-
Arbitration method (proposed system): each team is given a budget of $25m, which they assign to players on other teams. They must assign at least $1m to each other team in the league, and can't assign more than $3m to a specific team. Once all the assignments are done, player's salaries increase by the amount of money assigned to them by opponents.
-
The advantage of the vote-off is that apart from this one player, other player's salaries each year will be predictable. The disadvantage is that if a team has several cheap players, only one can be voted off each season, so it can take a long time for all players to reach a "fair market price". Also, because the team who lost the vote-off player gets a $5m discount, someone has to be willing to bid $5m than the player's current price for this to have any effect.
-
Vote off (Current system): at the end of the season, every team gets to vote for 1 player on every other team to become a free agent. The player on each team with the most votes becomes a free agent, and can be purchased by anyone. HOWEVER - the team that lost the free agent gets a $5m discount when buying that player.

So I'm new to the whole Ottoneu thing, can someone make an argument for/against vote off or arbitration? I voted for arbitration but only out of limited knowledge. If there is still time I'd like to make a more informed vote!
-
look like 3 people left to vote, would like to have decided in the next 48 hrs please

I'm still in favour of vote off over arbitration, but happy to go with the majority.

Hello everyone, I just joined yesterday and will be attempting to turn around this roster that I've taken on {hence all the cuts!}. As someone mentioned before who took over a team, I'm not married to anyone on my team and I'm not a contender this year. Anyone is available if it's a mutually beneficial trade. Looking forward to getting to know the league over the next couple months!
-
Thanks for bringing this topic up again, Arbitration vs. Voteoff, with majority rule (7 votes to pass) Please click on this doodle poll http://doodle.com/poll/e8ik8qg26pdckp23

I prefer arbitration to vote off. But as the new guy (one of the new guys) I defer to the players who have been in the league long term.
-
Someone had brought this up before but I'd like to start dialogue about switching from vote off to arb dollars for the offseason. Some of the player Values are so skewed due to the lack of participation in the draft two seasons ago.
-
I'll trade anyone on my roster for something else. I just joined so I have no loyalty to any of the players I inherited. Everyone is available.

Thanks for keeping this league active. Really enjoy my time here so far. Looking to move Miggy after getting my one of my favorite Royals.
-
the rest of the 10 teams have all checked in, i think most of us check in daily, or in some cases miss a day here and there
-
replacing managers who are not managing the teams, both of those teams had been inactive for weeks, and for this one, already had a warning this year to stay active and he still has 4 guys in his lineup who are on the DL. We are doing what it takes to keep the league competitive and active
-
Jeez why do we keep dropping teams like flies?

I don't know if it was a veto worthy trade, but you could probably have gotten more. Shopping one of the top 3 SS and top 3 SP probably could have gotten you a pretty good offer. Archer and Puig are just not as good as those two.
-
I saw that my first trade got two vetoes. Since I am new to Ottoneu, can someone tell me why? No hard feelings. I want to learn because I only use to do keeper drafts with draft picks, not salaries.

Hi everyone, I'm Albert! Thank you for having me. I'm new to Ottoneu, but a fantasy baseball veteran. My favorite team is the Royals. Looking forward to playing.
-
New owner coming shortly for the open team. Welcome aboard
-
Luc Duc Wong owner has left by his own request. We will try to get the team filled by the end of the All Star break
-
Duda, he did cause a lot of drama in an hour for a guy who had a major decision go in hos own favor. LOL
-
Y'all are getting way to worked up over a $10 fantasy baseball league
-
LOL rookie move? It's a rookie move to run a draft with four people and then ask to people to join the league KNOWING that they'd be at an extreme disadvntage. Mike might have been a rookie move, but you sure seem like a rookie commissioner. I fully intend to leave this team
-
also, be aware of the fact if it was another owner, commissioners cannot see anything in past offers/trade negotiations beyond the accepted trade. The fact you sent an offer 1 minute before, and it was cancelled by you accepting my pending offer would not have been able to be seen if it had not been my own team.
-
I never said anything like that, you are twisting it. If you don't appreciate the sportsmanship, then by all means find a new league. It's a rookie move to pull what you just did and in 20 years of running leagues, my practice has always been to let trades stand and not veto. Most sites have a 2 step pop up window process to accept a trade.
