Hey y'all. Ian here. I'm excited to announce the promotion of "jdavidreed" now up from Triple-A. He's taken over Bingo Longo for the relegated nomo. First relegation in league history! That means that JT is now commish up here, and I'll hang around for a bit on this team as long as needed. Do shout if anyone isn't coming back, and we'll try to get those spots filled and arbitration set.

Nice job, Tears! Epic final 2 weeks vaulted you to the top. Already looking forward to next season
-
Don't worry nomo, you get an assist on Sandy's ship for gifting him gattis and wil for two bad and old pitchers

Congrats TFT, well played final months. I will be back and hopefully more competitive.

Man, 2nd place AGAIN
-
But seriously, let me know as soon as possible if anybody isn't coming back. Otherwise I'll let Ian know that I'm the dude and JT is the new Commish. LOL

Congrats, Tears! Fun ass season everyone. Can’t wait for next year!
-
Thanks, Nickingham, nice to see one of the lads was good enough to approach me on his knees. I do deserve your respect, thank you for saying.
-
Congrats Sandy. Next year I need to ensure I hit the IP threshold and not rely on projected game 162 starters. Cheers

The usage of the opener is specifically why I littered my team with so much Rays pitching. Market inefficiency that I figured could work in my favor.
-
Fair enough, it wasn't really a complaint, just recognizing a shift in the actual game that places a minor inconvenience here playing... It may provide competitive advantage / disadvantage to those who can manipulate it best, who knows.
I don't know, nor really care, about the inner workings of how changes to this game work. I simply pay and play and very much appreciate that what I pay likely doesn't cover the amount of time people put into running it. Apologies for offending.
-
FWIW, I roster Diego Castillo in another league. The Rays "announced" him as today's starter some time yesterday. A rotowire update with a red icon was placed next to his name in the wee hours last night and the little green carat appeared next to his name this morning when I checked my roster. That's 3 opportunities to "catch" his status as the "opener". If you can't manage that, you should probably steer clear of rostering such a versatile pitcher.
-
You're asking our league to change the fundamental programming of the ottoneu format...if you want to suggest that, do it on the actual ottoneu forum: https://community.ottoneu.com/ for the record, I don't agree with your idea and I think it's bad. But that would be the place to voice it, not here. Nomo can't rewrite the code.

Perhaps just giving points to any reliever, no matter when they pitch. Or getting rid of starters / relievers altogether and just giving points per inning pitched. This would obviously lead to a bias toward relievers in the current scoring system, but perhaps a tweak to the point distribution could adjust that.... maybe a little less for holds n saves? Thoughts for the offseason.
-
I don't understand your complaint. If part time openers/"relievers" have value based on their usage then their auction price should be higher. If you want those dudes, bid more on them. If someone already has them, allocate to them if you think they're too cheap. This isn't a platform issue, it's all in how you value them.

So, a consideration, or maybe a discussion. With the augment of the "Opener" that the Ray's have implemented.... They are not starters, and from day to day flop back and forth between the bullpen and being an "Opener" that requires us to catch this, pretty much only by reading the paper as the site often misses such... which isn't a cut on the site. This may be something to consider options for next year as to how to handle, especially if this grows as I suspect it will.

Skaggs, Merrifield and Edwards have some value.

Is it me, or is that trade pretty lopsided? Just shedding $$? None of what you got seems like much, but maybe I just don't know.

Shopping Calhoun and Ray, Mejia could be had for a decent return. Soroka and Nelson also on the block. They won't be back this season but both are only $3.

Shame 3b is the deepest position in otto and will has more value in the OF.

Wow, I've not seen him since he went west, but 3B is nowhere I ever thought I'd hear of Will Myers playing, frankly its kind of scary, he's so aloof..... or not. Guess my heads in the sand, hence near last place.
-
Wil Myers is about to be eligible for 3B and will be sold to the highest bidder by 18:00 Monday. Please get your offers in before then.

He's got 3 more years after this but, don't think you're getting more in a trade. If anything, the Rays would get less. 1 year closer to free agency. Hoping he returns to form, stays healthy & someone ponies up more is a lot of things you hope go right. Did you see the Gerrit Cole trade? Or the Verlander trade? Strike now while there's not a lot of competition for pitchers
-
Hmm. Ok. I think Arch might be worth more and he was worth hanging on to another year to see where things go. Specially considering the significant injuries to the up n comers. Not sure we'd do much worse than this, but if he was to return to form, wed get lots more.
-
The most likely outcome is he becomes a high-leverage bullpen arm. But, personally like the dice roll, so much potential and Snyder might be the person to unlock it. As for Meadows, if he can just stay healthy, he's a starting corner outfielder and the Rays need some in the worst way. So, right now, waiting to see what third piece is for Archer but two faded prospects who are puzzling but are dripping with potential, I'm good with the boom/bust risk. Like the trades today. Alot
