Mid march would be best, as I'd prefer at least a week to make moves if need be but I'm not gonna be too picky about the actually day
-
Wow that's a lot of options. I voted but like I said, I'm good for anytime after 7pm on the weekdays and basically anytime on the weekends
-
I believe all times on the poll are Pacific unless it automatically changes to whatever time zone you're in. It should say in the top right.
-
I've created a Doodle Poll for possible draft times. The link is here: http://doodle.com/poll/rcvme46npwgybr3h Please fill it out as soon as you can to give us an idea of some times that work for everyone.
-
So the draft in my other league is march 29th, I'm good for any day but that. Weekends anytime or weeknights AFTER 8pm
-
I think the main goal is to make teams feel like they don't have to sell in April or may.
-
I would be in favor of exploring a maximum in season loan limit. It's frustrating when good teams can trade their prospects for overpriced superstars in May. But generally the ottoneu format is pretty good.
-
In the other league as a top 2 team, I had to cut a ton of players, and the player pool looks pretty good.
-
I have no intention on making any other changes. Best to stay conservative.
-
I tend to agree that the net benefit of the rule was good but am extremely hesitant to go further as suggested by Orlando Calrissians to reduce the number of keepers and salaries kept in the off season below 40 players and $400. I generally like the Ottoneu league structure and would prefer minor tweaks to large scale changes.
-
Yeah I certainly didn't feel any negative effects on how I ran my off-season. It certainly could have limited the number of bad trades that occurred, which is probably a good thing. Tough to cast a definitive judgment, but probably did more good than harm.
-
Theres still a lot of players that were kept, and i don't think that'll change in a keeper league without both a salary cap and limiting a team to a set number of keepers per off season. But i think the early cap is a good start.

I dont think its something that we can assess by saying "how did it effect my team" but more of a how did it effect the league as a whole. It seemed that there were fewer trades where obvious cuts were targeted (correct me if I'm wrong). But i think the spirit is to keep teams from keeping too many players and have drafts where players are going for rational prices. I like the idea of cutting as many players as we can. I think it wound up being kind of neutral, but there's some potenti

Baby steps. I think its more to get players into the auction, and in theory it should prevent bad trades and keeper decisions, which should give more teams the chance to compete.
-
Considering my team wasn't really keepable to begin with, don't think it had any effect on me, plus I'm not entirely sure I understood the change to begin with. haha
-
Not that the number has to be $100 that's just an example
-
I don't think it had too much of an effect on my team. Looking back I don't see anyone I cut that I think would've kept or been able to trade. I mean the rule is essentially a way to save us from ourselves taking on bad contracts of players that should probably be cut before the auction. I think if the goal is to try limit crazy loans (and I'm not sure that it is) , I think the only real way to achieve that would just be to set a hard cap on salary (i.e, max total loans in of $100 per team)
-
So how do we think the $400 cut down affected things? Any negative effects? Looks like team salaries overall are pretty balanced.

Ill set up a doodle poll soon

Is this worth setting up a doodle or google doc for?
-
Any night except March 3rd (other draft)
-
Weekday evenings 8pm ET and after are best for me
-
I work shift work and I'll be away the first couple of weeks of march. So whatever will probably will be equally inconvenient for me. Evenings would be better though.

Yeah I usually work M-F during the day, so evenings and weekends work best for me. Sundays I'm typically free all day. With enough notice I can probably rearrange my schedule too - Fantasy baseball comes before work, obviously.
-
Yeah agreed we should set something sooner rather than later. Best times? Morning on a weekend or nighttime on a weekday would be my preference (not that it totally matters haha)
-
Should we maybe start thinking about potential draft dates? I know last year was kind of a gong show trying to find one that worked for everyone.

Still lots of time to make cuts. But yeah last years draft was kind of ridiculous too.

Unless some decent players start getting cut, this draft is going to be nuts.

I dunno. If you believe the projections on Pollock, he's a real nice value at $18. Seager isn't bad at $31, but he's no steal and could be a cut next year if his price rises to 40+. I don't think much of Buxton at his price, and Hedges seems like a back-up catcher. I might not do it simply because Pollock is a bit of an unknown, but it's not a bad deal IMO.
-
Yeah. Negative ghost rider.

That's the way I'm leaning, but I'm so zeroed in on gaining cap space that I can't think about it adjectively
-
No way I make that trade.
-
This is kinda strange but I have no one else to ask... Would you keep Buxton at $11? And if so, would you trade him and Corey Seager ($31) for Pollock ($18) and Hedges ($3)? My IF is stacked so Seager is my utility player ATM. I have no cap space so I've been chasing some salary relief. I know this is weird but any thoughts would be appreciated lol

Will move David Robertson if someone is looking for a closer.

Shot in the dark, but if anyone sees value in McCutchen at $47 feel free to contact me. I would move him for a proverbial bag of balls. He's getting cut otherwise.

I've got too many 3B, looking to move one before the draft, preferably for some pitching or steals. Seager is the one I'm really open to trading, Suarez/Baez/Sano/Valencia are a little more valuable to me.
