Thanks for the lesson on drama, mister I'm quitting the league.
-
"That
"There's only one right way to play ottoneu, and it's my way. Any other way is wrong and should not be allowed. By the way, I'm new around here. Could someone explain the rules to me?"

The Projectionists's trade block has been updated!

Congratulations to Fifty Shades for the incredible deal he just completed. Dexter got some top notch prospects, so we'll see how they pan out. What I learned from this is I joined a league in which some owners value prospects way too much and are too easy to give up on a season when their team starts out slow. I'm not going to give up until 162 games are played. Shoot me some trade offers if you want to deal. I never update my trade block.
-
OK. I'm relatively new to Ottoneu. Please explain how a trade can go through when 4 people approved, 5 people vetoed and 3 obstained.
-
Talk about dramatic
-
That's not really am opinion, unless you subscribe to the murkiest, darkest corners of relativistic thinking.
-
That is also an opinion. Theres no rule on what vetoes should be used for
-
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I just want to point out one thing that is absolutely wrong is the idea that I should veto because it might affect me personally.
-
I think Mike Keenan said it best, "The Blues are an organization who will never win a Stanley Cup." GO PENS!!!
-
Just my 2 cents. LETS GO BLUES!!!
-
If the trade goes thru, no big deal. Folies is right, both were just doing what they thought was best. I dont like anyone giving up on a fantasy team on May 5, but he did. Ive been playing Ottoneu for some years now, and I think people get too caught up in the prospects game. Half wont pan out, 40% will be fine but not worth waiting 2 years, and the rest that turn elite will get hit hard in arbitration, and usually the next year the salary reflects production and there is no excess value anymore
-
Fowl Balls's trade block has been updated!
-
Well, you better hope this trade gets vetoed for your sake because if it goes through, I guarantee Fifty Shades is definitely going to finish higher than you this season. You don't trade 5 All-Stars to the person who won the league last year. He knows what the hell he is doing.
-
Teams, not trans, although it would be ok if you were.
-
There's no cheating, there's no collusion, this deal isn't nearly as dramatic as singer people want to make it out. I see the deal. It's two trans doing what they feel is best for their team. I don't know about everyone else, but I can barely manage mine, much less anyone else's. A veto would be way miss problematic than letting this trade through.
-
I'll be back at 2:05 pm Eastern to see the result.

You are missing the point. Its not about who was offering and who was not, or who is rebuilding and who is not. Its about the DEAL. If the DEAL goes through, then Fifty Shades gets a great DEAL and Dexter gets a good deal MAYBE in 2017. Its like politics. Dexter got the federal government to negotiate the trade for him while Fifty Shades got Donald Trump. The federal government gets screwed while Trump makes great deals.
-
The guy shopped his players extensively, knew the market fit his players way better than we do, and no one has come forward saying they made a better offer. The guy was screaming he was ready to sell and rebuild for next season. You can't say he didn't get enough when not a single person was offering more.
-
I don't have any issues with his procedures. That's how you go about doing business. But, this has to be one of the most lopsided trades I have ever seen on Ottoneu, so I have to veto it. If it goes through, good for them. It just shows that this is a league that would allow such trades.
-
Dexter changed his trade block to let everyone know he was selling. He made offers for presumably better prospects that were turned down. He reached out to other people that he thought might be selling. He did his due diligence and took what he felt was the best offer. I can't in good faith veto this.
-
Dexter reached out to me several days ago and asked me if I was a contender or rebuilding, but I told him I wasn't interested in either Puig or Hamels. I never fill out my trade block. If you want to trade with me, throw me an offer and I'll tell you what I think.
-
If he was trading his two most expensive guys for prospects, why not reach out to him? Alternatively, he reached out to me with an offer I felt was excessive. I believe he reached out to other teams that took the time to fill out their trade blocks.
-
It was my understanding that Dexter was interested in trading Puig and Hamels for prospects, not FIVE of his high priced players and pay most of their salaries. But, I guess that's how big deals get started. I'm all for blockbuster trades when they make sense.
-
Dexter had Puig and Hamels on his trade block asking for prospects. If you didn't know, it's not his fault.
-
Yes, it will be interesting because I know some people have already approved and others have already vetoed. You know where I stand. I just can NOT approve a trade that sends 5 quality players for 3 minor leaguers. Hell, if I knew Dexter was going to give up so easily, I have 13 prospects on my roster and would more than happy to have gotten rid of 3 of them. Oh well. It will be a fun auction draft in 2017 when a lot of these high priced players are free agents.
-
I'll certainly be making a bag of popcorn for 2 PM tomorrow
-
That is - IF the trade goes through.
-
haha it's the beauty of ottoneu - you are guaranteed to be the subject, object and objector of WTF moments, usually multiple times over. Just no roadmap to this stuff. Welcome to the title race, Mr. Gray
-
Sorry about my comments lol, i was tipsy and the Blues had just lost. Came off a little harsh. Apologies
-
wild trade. cant quite convince myself that there is any collusion going on though, so I dont think I can veto in good conscience.
-
If this was a redraft league, then of course I got screwed. This is a dynasty league, and I'm trying to build a long term winner. I'm not apologizing for it.

I think it's a crappy trade for both sides. I was secretly happy they made it.
-
No fault on the league. But this pitchers point system, combined with these trades, im gonna have to leave this league. That trade is pathetic
-
Jesus guys. Dexter got screwed. Last year, you get correa, its worth it. All 3 of those prospects, no guarantees. All 5 of those major league guys are guaranteed good players possibly studs. Im just voicing an opinion. Good for 50 shades. But that trade is ridiculous. Unacceptable.
-
I like the passion this year . Anyone have a problem with my trade I accepted? Just curious.

Plus totally disagree with you on 2018. College bats move faster than high school players. Would not be shocked to see Swanson up by May next year and Benetendi by June.

Hamels is a 32 year old pitcher at $32 with recent groin concerns. Sure, these guys are good, but have downside as well. Fifty shades is taking a risk just as I am.

A lot *can* happen between now and October, but I'd rather concern myself with what probably will happen versus what can happen. My team has middle of the pack written all over it. Sure, Puig is good. Not worth $40 going into next year. Adam Jones? Guy hits more homers than he walks. Kipnis has two good years under his belt, sandwiched by a bad year. Fowler is a good player, but you're crazy if you think he'll finish the year with 10 WAR, which is where he's at now.

Key word = POTENTIAL! I like all 3 of those prospects too, but I don't see them doing anything major until 2018. I understand wanting to dump the salaries, but Dexter just gave you 5 players who are going to give you solid P/G right away. Josh Bell's power numbers aren't the greatest, and the Bucs have Jaso signed for 2 years. Swanson just got promoted to AA, and Benintendi is in High Class A ball. This not even close to trading Correa for Tulo and $$$. Correa was ready to be called up!
-
In another league around this time last year, I traded Correa for Tulo and cash. Everyone said the same thing about collusion, etc. Anyone think I won that trade? Point is, trading high upside prospects for almost no keepers (other than Kipnis and Puig at full value) is a dangerous game. You guys can vote how you want, but I gave up a ton of potential value here.
-
Maybe this isn't collusion, but its a REALLY lopsided trade in which Fifty Shades gets 5 MLB All-Stars for 3 players who will have little to no impact this year and POSSIBLY may do something in 2017, but you never know with prospects. Sometimes, the best trades are the ones that aren't made. DEXTER - Its May 5. How can your season be over, and you are ready to rebuild? You are 700 points from being in the $$$. A lot can happen between now and October!
-
I have my thoughts on the trade, but they're not leaning towards collusion. I never even considered vetoing.
-
Fourthly, I messaged the league stating that I was looking to package Hamels and Puig, and this is the deal that was best. I'm not going to hold on to my trade assets during a rebuilding year because someone else in the league thinks it is unfair. There is no deal in which I trade these players and get better in the short term. So I chose to get better in the long term. Finally, if you don't like it, get on the trading block and get better.

I'll defend my move quickly. One, these prospects are elite prospects, and they should all be called up this year at least for a cup of coffee. Bell probably for half the season. Two, my team wasn't good enough to compete this year so I traded away my assets. All of which were, in my mind, too expensive to keep for a rebuilding team. Thirdly, while this deal may help Fifty Shades this year, he's gonna have a lot of tough decisions to make regarding salary next year, when I'll be competing.

Yeah i vetoed that big trade as well. I dont know if collusion is in play here, but nonetheless, thats just an awful trade.
-
That is funny because in my other league there was a huge debate over a similar trade two teams made, however we thought it was unfair for the opposite reason you think its unfair. Shows how different people/leagues value prospects.

OK. The Nelson Cruz trade I can handle. But, the trade with 5 Major Leaguers for 3 prospects? Please explain how that is a fair trade. You don't have to be Donald Trump to smell a little collusion going on here.
