If I were Dodgers, Lux schmucks give me Velasquez
-
Just like in here , looks like prospects are gold currency , or platinum for that matter
-
Though Shane Greene should help. Still time for the Nats to sell.

Of course, Strickland would look pretty good in the Braves bullpen right now. Jesus Newcomb, throw a strike.

This as infuriating as spending a Wednesday night in March waiting for Mikey and Schmegs to throw guys back on the 11th hour. Thank goodness brave Bat had the fortitude to release Harper.

Nats trying to rebuild the โpen around...Hunter Strickland?

The Commisioner said that by having one trade deadline , it would generate substantial excitement
-
Teams are not willing to part with their top prospects to put them over the top. Like the 2016 Cubs did by trading Gleybor for rental Chapman.
-
The Trade Deadline hype is turning out to be Dudline. Reminds me of our throwback day in here, where nothing happened .
-
Mikey, you at todayโs game? Did you sit behind the expanded netting on Monday? Did it make any difference (did you even notice it)? NGB, Rick Shortโs other HR was off the D-Train.

NGB, the beauty of the Nats is they can do both in the same day, like yesterday. But a big part of their likability is their lovable loser identity, kind of like the pre-2004 Red Sox. If they ever surprise us and win anything theyโll be a lot less likable. At least to me. Weโll see if Hudson makes the difference, but maybe they shouldnโt send one of their old 2Bers home from first.

That sneak Kevin has Aguilar !
-
For once, I agree with Ngb 100%
-
Why are the Astros hanging on to Tucker? Alvarez already has passed him by and if they keep Tucker for another season they'll watch Beer pass him by. The Astros have a window to win another championship and the rest of the league hasn't figured out yet that Tucker is the OF version of A.J. Reed (i.e., feasts on bad MiLB pitchers, gets dominated by good ones). Tucker still has value, cash that chip in!
-
I was wrong about Bauer, but I love the return.
-
BTW, I find the Nats far more likable when they're losing to the Braves than when they're pounding the Braves.
-
Braves trade Allard to Texas for bullpen RHP Martin.
-
Bat, I doubt that Nats will break the likability record they set in 2005 when they gave career minor leaguer and Japanese League batting champion Rick Short a few mlb games, allowing him to hit a couple of mlb HRs off of two tough pitchers (Smoltz and someone else, you'll just have to trust me that the other guy was a tough pitcher too) before his short mlb career ended with a .400 lifetime batting average. Although I think the Nats only did this likable thing to piss-off Peter Angelos.
-
I did earlier before he got traded
-
Charles is probably offering on him as we speak
-
I open the floor up to discussion, franmil stands to benefit
-
ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that Indians starter Trevor Bauer has been traded to the Reds as part of a three-team deal also involving the Padres.
Jon Heyman of MLB Network says that the Reds are moving Yasiel Puig to the Indians, and Dennis Lin of The Athletic adds that Cleveland will also get Franmil Reyes and Logan Allen from the Padres. Reds top outfield prospect Taylor Trammell will head to San Diego. There may be other pieces involved. Stay tuned.
-
Mikey, If Fedde gets a post-season start, I'm coming to wherever you are to watch the game with you!
-
I'm bored!!! Someone offer me trades.
-
Riley on the bench again :(
-
MLB.com's Jon Morosi reports that the Astros and Indians have had "recent communication" about a possible Trevor Bauer trade.
It sounds like Houston is looking to make a big splash before the trade deadline,ย
-
So, now you have Clevinger, Bieber, and Bauer all making the HoF like Smoltz and friends!! Totally inadequate quick and dirty look at MadBum's last 10 starts, the three on the road he averaged 2.3 pts/ip (largely due to getting blown-up by the Dodgers... but guess what team any NL contender is going to have to go thru?).
-
Weren't Smotz, Maddux , and Glavine all on same team and all aces?
-
Is Cole a # 1 in your all knowing eyes ?
-
Instead of the term ace, I'm going to refer to guys who are true No. 1's. What makes you think Bauer is a true No. 1? On his own staff, Clevinger and Bieber are better. Do you think all three of them are true No. 1's. MadBum is not very impressive these days outside of his home ballpark. If he ended up in a hitter's ballpark (for example Philly), he'd be a disaster, not a shut-down ace.
-
Bad backs and necks just down heal. Linger on and come back frequently, believe me i know first hand
-
Health is Max only drawback. He reminds me of when I was a kid , and see we were facing Carlton or Seaver..was like oh no , write down a L.
-
I'd
-
Is day Greinke and Bauer are both aces as is Baumgarner
-
(I include โMax being humanโโbad back, pitching with a black eyeโin the reasons Nats are likeable. Another is Grandpa Rodney dragging his 7 ERA out to pitch the 8th.)

And achy breaky back Scherzer isnt that guy either!!
-
Shut down ace, no; guy youโd rather have start game 1 (or a wild card game) than Keuchel, yes. Heโd be fine. Snakes could throw in Peralta too (though theyโd probably insist on dumping Adam Jones).

Would you argue that Greinke is an available shut-down ace? I'd at least entertain that argument.
-
So, any shut-down aces on the market, because neither Thor or Bauer is that guy (except on the odd night less than a handful of times a season).
-
Atlanta could use a shutdown ace , and they have so many decent mid rotation guys to offer.
-
Doesnโt everyone on the Astros pitching staff (meaning JV and Cole) hate Bauer? Or does this not matter any more?

Is it just me or does anyone else think the Nats have become almost...likeable? Certainly more likeable than any time when I lived in DC. Sure, watching them w/o having to hear Bob and FP has to help. But Rendon finally getting some respect, Strasburg (Strasburg!) dancing in the dugout, the parade of 2Bs I thought already retired (whoโs next, Ugla?), Soto being Soto, and heaven knows the baby shark is worlds better than the chop. Likeable Nats is some serious cognitive dissonance.

Big Franmil could be their next Albert Belle
-
If the Tribe does trade Bauer, the only non-AL team that seems to be making a run at him is the Padres. Especially given their surplus of OF, that would be my best guess if they trade him.
-
I would be shocked if the Indians trade Bauer given their recent small buys and rumored connections to Castellanos, Smoak, and Santana. At two games back and surging, they are looking to buy.
-
Houston would be tough to stop with Bauer wow
