Fat Touki vs SD , would be a blessing if there was rain out
-
Torrential rain at my house right now, but it was sunny 30 minutes ago. This pattern of random (but strong) storms is going to continue all afternoon and evening. Kind of like yesterday. I wouldn’t be surprised by the same result: they pretend they’ll get the ATL-SD game in until some time after 7:20, then they’ll give up. Annoying. But I also wouldn’t be totally surprised if they play, so I’m not sitting Freddie if they don’t postpone. 1/3 chance of Freddie > 100% CandyMan.

Of course McKinstry gets the start tonight. I expect he’ll have 2 HRs off Gausman to shut me up.

Speaking of guys who shouldn’t be (60%) rostered: nice start from Stripling tonight: 0.1 IP, -38.53 points. That cracks the magic -100 points per IP rate! I have him in both leagues (though I didn’t start him vs BOS in that minor league park). I bet he’s not 60% rostered tomorrow.

I must be missing something about that guy. I don’t understand why he’s rostered at all—let alone in 70% of Otto leagues. He seems an okay hitter…but maybe the 10th or 12th best hitter on the Dodgers, depending on how you count Belli or Ruiz. Seems like a decent glove, and that string of eligibilities is nice, but it’s not a must-play glove. Where do the PAs come from? How can he be used? But I seem to be the minority opinion.

Henry you are an attorney right ? With the firm Dewey, Cheatham, & Howe ?
-
LOL. I claimed that guy.
-
Wisdom will essentially be s starter even when Bote returns after Cubs have their fire sale .
-
Henry, you can claim that POS Mckinstry and would have essenially gotten Greene and Riley for free
-
Cubs may be mediocre at best but Dbacks are putrid
-
Glad you're safe.

Tatis 4 for 4

At Nat’s park. Never a good sign when the people along the third base side and left center suddenly get up and surge out of the stadium. Think we’ll sit up in the upper deck behind home plate for a bit.
-
Maybe Joc can hit left handed pitching after all.

Don't go back to Rockville Mikey, and waste another year
-
You know it…
-
Mikey sounds like your approach in here , hang on and make late season push
-
Don’t think the Nats are going to be sellers. They’re down to three of their original starting eight being healthy. I think they’ll try to hang on until they start to recover, maybe even be buyers for their bullpen.
-
I dont think MLB teams will pay a top almost ready mlb prospect for a rental anymore, such as when Cubs traded Gleybore for Chapman who promptly resigned with yankees the next off season. Seems like top prospects are off limits taboo around baseball now

Mikey needs to deal with harsh reality that DC is sub par and most likely a seller
-
Turned to that game and saw Pham on 3rd in the top of the 8th…but he got there a more usual way, BB then took 3rd on a single. The 2-cycle dream is probably over. Henry you’ve got some inequality in Capped too with Pham and Vladito there. Hanniger still has a couple PAs to work back down to single digits.

My lineup tonight looks like U.S. income inequality. Pham and Cronenworth and a bunch of single digits.
-
Pham “just” needs the triple for his own cycle—how often have there been 2 in a game? He also stole home—which seems weird in a game like this but I guess they didn’t always have 19 runs. And Soto and the Nats aren’t giving up yet.

I guess Cronenworth wasn’t very happy with Brew’s suggestion that SD needs a 2B and he’s taking it out on the Nats. 6th inning and he already has a cycle. Looks like some game. Will SD get to 2 dozen? Anyone watching? I imagine Mikey went to bed an hour ago.

Dont kick poor Charles while he is down Fred. He is still trying to make moves.

Shmegs’ PR Dept is now scrambling to come up with talking points to defend that trade to his fan base
-
You want CJ, or maybe Campusano. Take a look at Gore’s AAA line this year. K-BB%: 6.3. Awful. Can’t throw strikes any more. Doesn’t mean this can’t be fixed, but it hasn’t been yet. He’s still way too good to trade just for a Rizzo rental (looks like he’s in the mid-20s at FG; #36 in BP’s mid season prospect update), but as payment to take Hosmer?

shame i had not heard Gore had slipped as a prospect
-
Hell yeah I'd choose SD, too. I'd choose to live and work there EVEN IF the team sucked and wasn't loaded to compete for the next decade
-
(Disclosure: as a Braves fan, I’m gonna hate anything that got Hosmer out of SD and gave them an entry into the Freeman sweepstakes. I’m not too worried about Boston (Freddie’s too nice a guy to want to play there); Milwaukee is probably too cheap; the Giants are definitely worth worrying about but he’s a SoCal boy; SD is a terrifying option. I know I’d chose SD.)

SD would do that. They might ask the Cubs to keep Baez (Cronenworth is fine, including in the field). Gore is not a top-10 guy any more, but sure they’d still never trade him straight up for Rizzo. But to get out from under Hosmer’s contract? That would be very appealing. I doubt the Cubs would be so stupid to take Hosmer, and Cubs fans should burn Wrigley to the ground if they do, after all the “we’re broke!” bullshit.

If I were Cubs I'd trade rizzo and Baez who plays gg 2b as well, for Hosmer and Gore. Would SD do that ? Seems like teams are reticent to trade top prospects for anything . what a fielding infield they would have though, machado tatis Baez rizzo
-
Rizzo may be going to SD , stay tuned

The Braves and Cubs have swung a notable trade, as outfielder Joc Pederson is on his way to Atlanta. First base prospect Bryce Ball is the return going back to Chicago.

Did anyone watch the rise of El Nino last night ? Was interesting the Dominican Republic portion how base ball crazed they are there

Thanks again for all the Acuña offers. I liked a lot of them, but with Bauer being worthless and Yu’s health in question I felt I had to get the best SP I could. Of course we all know how well trying to predict SP success works….

will Henry trade Devers?
-
Now the question is , who will Brent trade Harper to ?
-
Very true. I am excited by the Yanks-Sox game and I have a bunch of players in it.
-
All star week sort of sucks as it seems to take forever . yanks red Sox play Thursday , otherwise an eternity until Friday comes

Bass, I’m pretty sure my marketing director’s estimate incorporates the surgery. The injury is pretty bad but ACL reconstruction and rehab for pro athletes (and weekend warriors: a few of us may have had this procedure) is well understood (just ask Tom Brady). You all have sent me some interesting offers, and the Mookie trade takes a little pressure off, so I’m trying to work through trade-offs….

-
Based on the way Soroka is healing, Im not sure we can all count on Acuna being "his old self" after this surgery + rehab.
-
If thrown back Acuna would be 70$ at auction
