Will be difficult to catch both Abreu and Perez for RBI. Only saving grace is white sox may rest Abreu while Blue Jays are in a dogfight . Also stats for any game 163 , if it comes to that, do count.
-
Triple Crown Watch ; Where he stands
• Batting average: .317, first in AL
• Home runs: 45, first in AL (one ahead of Shohei Ohtani and Salvador Perez)
• RBIs: 103, tied for third in AL (seven behind Salvador Perez)

Big craft beer and baseball article at The Athletic. A very good deep dive. (But don't read the comments, unless you think hipsters are trying to take your cheap lagers away.) https://theathletic.com/2800477/2021/09/14/as-craft-beer-booms-around-the-country-why-isnt-it-thriving-at-the-ballpark/

It might be too quick-and-simple an approach, but by total points so far this year the #36 MI is JP Crawford (565 points); Straw is 37 (551). The #60 OF is Grichuk (501) and 61 is Happ (494). That’s actually closer than I thought it was.

I never think of that dude as a 2B (so, like Mookie I guess). I’m surprised they’re so close in age. I still think I’d take Mookie’s upside in points. How do you use Ketel? When healthy he was always an OF for me; same with Riley. You’re probably right that it’s just my roster construction…but replacement level seems higher in the IF.

Well the other Dodger non-2b that qualifies, Turner, is the only person you could theoretically place near him. And yeah, I’d say in a vacuum you definitely want to play him at 2b, but team construction could dictate otherwise
-
Mookie starting at 2B today. If my count is right (and it might not be—I couldn’t count to 5 to get Hill’s start @Marlins!) that’s 5, which gives him 2B eligible thru next season. Discussion questions: (1) he’s pretty clearly the #1 2B then, right? Is there anyone you’d take ahead of him? And (2) even so, would you expect to use him there, or is 2B/MI deep enough that he’d be more valuable in the OF? (And yes, I’m distracting myself from my teams declining fortunes by thinking @ 2022.)

Old Wainwright has 150 points his last three starts .
-
That was funny

It's getting to be that time of the year where I don't recognize the players nominated for auction...
-
Tron I knew you’d come back as you caught up in innings…I just didn’t expect you’d do it at 7.5 pip. Nice day yesterday.

No more trade offers to be tempted by, still have my core foundation intact.

Damn it Brew that better not drive up the price I have to pay for Volpe (once/if I can ever spend on prospects for my 23-24 rebuild). And Bass…that 9th inning was awful and did take some of the shine off Fred’s cycle. I wonder if Ian A could close the rest of the year? The rotation seems…okay, a lot better than the bullpen.

Mlb.com midseason prospect ratings just came out. I realize there are many other lists that most in here prefer, all the same ,this is decent barometer .

-
Will Smith and Josh Tomlin almost overshadowed Freeman in the same game. Woof, the Braves need a different 9th inning option.
-
It is pretty hard to believe Muncy or Freeman could be over shadowed last night, but then there is Ohtani .
-
I just hope he stays healthy. I hate when the young stars get injured.

Triston McKenzie perfect through 7 if you've got mlb.tv

I was thinking Ben zobrist

I honestly had high hopes for McKinstry. Thought he had a Whit Merrifield profile. Oh well.

Agree with the 1st 4 words (it’s 2021 Fred)…although Conforto was useful yesterday that was pretty unusual; I’d rather have Castillo and the injured Lamet back. Though if someone would just start an auction for Greinke I might change my mind.

It happens to everyone , sort of like we all porked a fat or ugly girl in college , especially freshman year
-
Also, let’s avoid the revisionist history. You made the 2Rileys trade on April 18.

Yes Fred, you bought high and sold low based on a week over-performance and a month under-performance, as an emotional response to what other people did, and because you thought McKinstry was a “going for it” move. Again, I’m surprised you’re reminding us of all this.

The confluence of losing May and Roberts with big splash trades made by others was too much to overcome .
-
Iglascious trade with Brent, and Conforto Grienke trade with Pat ...all those pretty much had me in s next year thinking mode
-
After realizing I could not trade my prospects ( no takers) for help me now guys , I folded my hand early June and did Cole bellringer correa trade with Charles.
-
That was May, Riley was in precipice of being sent down, I was going for it, Bellinger went down , mckinstry was getting all his at bats and was hot . He got hurt the day after I got him from Henry. Before the massive five all star trades going to Bat trades , I was in first or second for several weeks.
-
Uh, Fred, reminding us you traded Austin Riley *and* Riley Greene for Zach effing McKinstry kinda works against your previous post. Of course we’re going to send you random offers!

I had a full stable of prospects only a year or so away ( wish I still had Riley Greene )
-
I am not looking to add 2023/2024 arrivals right now for guys that are up and I am intending to keep. There are plenty of those on FA and who is to say which pay off and which don't ? It would foolish to trade a known guy with cheap contract and upside for two 19 year olds at single A ( or lower ).
-
His name should be CJ Crom, given his barely cromulent production

Thanks. There's a length limit, so the "perfectly" wouldn't fit, but I had to do it anyway.

Hook, well-played. Probably my favorite team name in league history!
-
While Burnes amassed 78 points , old Wainwright was not far behind with 75 ( vs. the Pirates ) .
-
Corbin Burnes not only struck out 15 last night , but struck out 10 in a row while walking none . True it was vs. the AAA Cubs , but still amazing .
-
At this point , I think Bartolo Colon would be an upgrade to Jake Arrieta .
-
The White Sox announced Wednesday that they’ve placed lefty Carlos Rodon on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Aug. 8, due to left shoulder fatigue. Lance Lynn will be the starter on Thursday .
-
The White Sox announced Monday that they’ve reinstated center fielder Luis Robert from the 60-day injured list. Outfielder/first baseman Gavin Sheets was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte in order to open a spot on the active roster
-
Luis Robert to return this week. Carlos Rodon the starter for field of dreams game Thursday 6:15 central time.
-
Robles generally has been starting, but he’s been absolutely horrible.
-
And somehow I managed to not start Morton against them (in Capped). Is Robles not a regular starter these days?
