You do get some unexpected results sometimes where a pitcher gives up a ton of hits, has a negative score in FGPTs and a perfectly fine score in SABR.

I've played in a few leagues, one still going. In my experience, the FIP based scoring makes pitchers slightly less valuable that hitters (as compared to FGPTs). The baseline for a great RP is more like 7ppg rather than 8ppg. Because walks count against PIP, control pitchers have more value, but really top pitchers are about the same.

I haven't played it, but the difference is the pitching scoring is FIP based. So hits don't count as negative points, but HRs are -13 instead of -12.3.

Has anyone played one of these leagues with the SABR poi ts instead of FGpoints? Does it make a noticeable difference?

I’m so sick of pitchers this year. Being randomly very bad and mostly being hurt. Nearly all of them, all the time. We might as well just draft/pay for hitters and draw pitchers out of a hat. Think I’m going back to old school Lima style next year.

Actually I took over in 2023 and went 1st, 4th, 12th (this season). I inherited a team that had placed 11th in 2022 and sold off all the assets to win in 2023.

For what it's worth I took the FV for Points approach to another league and won last year. My record there is something like 9th, 11th, 1st, 12th (this season is another rebuild).
