Cami, nominating a player does in fact make you a bidder for that player at his lowest possible amount, in Mauer's case $17. So if no one else bids Tejas will indeed end up with him.
-
Still going thru my rookie Ottoneu season, so sorry for the noob question. How do you accidentally win an auction? I don't think nominating a player doesn't make you have a bid and any bid can be canceled before the auction is over.
-
Well, I guess he won't seeing as he cut him
-
Don't worry, 108 will snatch him up like he has with all the other auctions
-
The auction for Joe Mauer was started accidentally - if Strangers wins him I am going to remove him from his team with no cap penalty as an FYI
-
other than making his friends outfield very good, again... Sherrif loses Puig to get Cano, but who cares? I can just trade a career .214/.291/.358 hitter plus allen craig and get back an all star OF

Upton isnt bad as a $39 keeper, meanwhile Craig will be the first person on his team that he clicks to drop when the keeper deadline approaches after the season, makes no sense for a team that claims to be quitting

Unless the beer that was added in is going to be the greatest thing ever drunk during the baseball season, I dont understand how there was a fair reason to accept that deal over mine or any other offers Bear Jews got for Upton

How do we not get that trade vetoed? I offered a much better deal, I know that picture is a useless link but it proves much better offers were on the table for Justin Upton... not just a minor league inf who cannot even unseat his mlb compeition +$21craig

I don't know these nerds either.

see, this was my biggest worry. Most of you guys actually know each other, where I am just the random internet guy. Promise I'm not trying to ruin the league, just not excited about spending the next two months in an epic battle for 5th place.
-
Also, adam - this site is so god damn hard to use on my phone
-
Sorry, meant to say how hard is it to hit the veto button and shut the fuck up? Might be harder than I thought.
-
Hey, since we are giving fangraphs 15% of our buy in to employ a trade sheriff (I mean that $$ can't possibly be being spent on message board technology), why doesn't he rule on it??
-
Wow how hard is it
-
Haha that trade I made was pretty bad. We got so much backlash from it we decided to trade the guys back to keep people from complaining anymore.

DIRK, why don't you go through the league trade history. There are MANY examples of July trading: http://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/389/viewtrade?id=5320&pending=1

So bored of arguing this. I now don't care if the trade goes through. Enjoy.
-
I mean, you are essentially arguing that a team deciding to prepare for next year at the expense of the current season equals "fuck it" and that's just not fair
-
If you felt like a team in a dynasty league announcing and conducting a fire-sale is unfair, where was the outrage when I first announced it?
-
No... I don't get that reaction at all. This isn't a 1-year league. Yes, I pulled the plug on 2014 and moved forward. We can disagree that my team is better long term than it was 10 days ago, but I think you'd be challenged to support that argument.
-
I believe Taveras will be significantly better than Markakis. If I turn out to be wrong on that, I won't be alone. Nevertheless, the Markakises of the world can easily be replaced in the auction.
-
Why don't you address me as 2013 Champ DIRK

Caminiti, didn't you say "fuck it"? I mean, you said you offered your guys up and didn't get a better offer, so you said "fuck it, I'll take this shitty offer because it's the best of the worst". That's the impression I get. You'e not even better in 2015.
-
I believe Taveras will be significantly better than Markakis. If I turn out to be wrong on that, I won't be alone. Nevertheless, the Markakises of the world can easily be replaced in the auction.
-
Cruz falls into your "guarantee" group though? A guy who will be 35 and is doing something this year he has never done before? Dozier is a year younger than Desmond, 15 dollars cheaper and out-preforming him.
-
Tejas, I don't address anyone who can't do basic math.
-
The one thing I wasn't going to do was hold onto non-keepers, regardless of 2014 value, because... well, it might not be fair to other teams that aren't offering as much.
-
Yes, I disagree with that as well. Cruz, Desmond and Markakis are keepers who will produce. Dozier will produce next year but at the same level? Maybe. No one else is guaranteed to produce at all next year for Caminiti.
-
Dirk, if that is at me then I'm not sure how to reasonably respond. This isn't a 1 year league, I improved my team for 2015+, AND I shopped these guys to everyone equally. How is that saying "Fuck it"?
-
2. Even if we don't agree on this, what do you propose people do? Do you disagree that Caminitiville's team is better next year after the trade? It sounds like he shopped the players around and didn't get any better deals...
-
1. I generally agree that Veto = I think there is collusion.
-
Ziegler, are you sure all of this bitching has nothing to do with my rejecting your awful trade offer and the subsequent vile messages you sent me?

All it takes is for one guy to say "Fuck it" and it can screw up the whole league depending on who's the beneficiary. And again it doesn't have to be malicious.

Caminitiville Horror's trade block has been updated!

but I chose the best deal available. That's as fair as I feel I have to be.
-
The fairness part though, is nonsense. I spoke with every team ahead of me about Cruz and nearly every other player in the deal. I'm not going to publicly air what was or wasn't offered
-
Dirk, I completely agree that the value isn't equal if you look at it from the 2014 perspective. But I would maintain that I have improved my 2015 and beyond outlook.
-
a good player ending up with my competition
-
I guess I'd argue that part of the game, whether fantasy or MLB, is deciding whether to try to win this year or hang onto future assets. As a contender, part of the concern and the calculus that goes into my offer should be the worry of
-
Also agree that Taveras is still a great PROSPECT. But he's obviously got work to do and at $13 next year he's hardly a bargain until he gets up to his ceiling (2 years, more?). His prospect value is diminished due to his price.
-
Agreed the leaders aren't your concern, but what if you were fighting for a spot and some weak trade like this helped your competitor? You have to look at the veto as a fairness button, in my opinion.
