Sammo’s Slammos's trade block has been updated!

I'm playing for first, so either way is fine. But I thought they were bringing back the 3d place payout.
-
Any amount is cool with me.
-
Hey all, just a reminder to the five remaining teams to get those arbitration picks in. It's looking like we will remain a $50 league. Third place won't cut it anymore!
-
I vote A
-
I vote $50.
-
It looks like they added back a third-place prize in the $50 tier, so that's nice. How about a vote for A) $50 tier or B) move up to $75 tier?
-
I am a grad student in his intership year, so I can only afford so much. I set my team up for the future, and hopefully next year is the future for me. So I could do $50 or $75. I can talk with my brother to see if he'd want to co-own the team with me to do a bigger buy-in.
-
I'm good with either 50, 75, or 100
-
I'll be back. I am not too concerned with switching tiers and will be OK with whatever we decide.

Just claimed the abandoned team. Glad to be aboard. If anyone wants to start talking trade, to lay some ground work before November 15th, I'm open to just about anything.
-
As I mentioned before, Ottoneu is instituting changes this offseason and we'll need to decide as a league if we want to stay at the $50 tier or not. At the same time, I'd also like to get assurances from owners I haven't heard from yet that they will be playing next season (or a heads-up if you plan to leave). Let's get the discussion rolling in the week we have before arbitration starts. Bleacher Bums already informed me he is moving on because of the site-wide price changes.
-
Well played, y'all.
-
Congrats VP!
-
Well played and a great postseason run for the top teams involved
-
Haha, yeah I think it's safe to call it and enjoy some postseason baseball.
-
Well, I'll still say thanks. If you can make up 235 points with two games and no innings left, you desrve the title! 😁
-
Wait, whoops, forgot the play-in games factor in. My mistake.
-
Congrats to Veteran Presents on your win. Nice work!
-
I'll second Godley's note, and also state that i'll definitely be back in 2019, whatever price level we decide on.

As we get close to the end of the season, I'd like to remind people that it is not OK to roll into the off season with 50 or 60 players on your roster. I'm not the commish here, and it's his decision, but while it's technically possible to do if you don't care about setting your lineup the rest of the way, most otto players view that as an abuse of the format.

Maybe a league vote on buyin of $50, $75, and $100 options once we know the payouts for the $100? I plan to be back either way.
-
If you haven't already, please take a minute and read the link about price changes coming to Ottoneu next year. They are also moving the renewal date up to January, it sounds like.

You've got the top spot today, Bums. Well played. Now just hold on! Good luck, y'all. I'm planning on being up there next year too.
-
been thinking...its better up here than being a non contender, birds
-
All I can think of is that a contender who didn’t move future value for vets, who then loses, might get mad at the trade and quit. But I think the lack of freedom to do a good reset is worse than the chance we’ve gotta replace a team.
-
How is it bad for the league? A failed roster is better next year. (Me). And the loans are removed after the season, meaning the win-now team has to trim the bloated salary, does not carry it forward. The arb rules I find very fair and well written, and Soto values will be an asset to my then and with the cash I carry to the draft.
-
Still going to say, trading one player like Soto on a low salary (no matter how good a prospect) for multiple proven veteran players at high salaries while sending cash to pay the salary is detrimental to the long term stability and competitiveness of any league. And those Soto kind of players will get hammered in arb, so your value and return is affected. Redbirds, its still a crappy trade and not good for the league or both parties in the deal
-
Unfair trades are not specifically allowed by rule, the rules state b. Uneven trades are allowed, although they will be handled as follows: If team A is acquiring 3 players while trading 1 to B, team A must stay below or at the 40-man limit or must also cut 2 additional players of their choosing in accordance with the rules in section V.

I don't think anyone thought there was collusion or other underhanded dealings involved, which I will agree are the only legitimate reasons to veto a trade. I'm guessing these are protest votes, based on differing notions of player valuation. That is, most of us would strongly prefer the JDM side now and next year. Again, not a great reason to veto though.

Unfair trades are specifically allowed in the rules. So my interpretation is that absent collusion, extreme unfairness, or mistake, I do not veto. In our case, the clear present for future value nature of the trade and our relative placement in the standings meant that I view the trade not only un-vetoable but also perfectly reasonable. I guess I'm glad only 5 of you disagreed or veto on other criteria. I was only trying to win next year. If anyone has questions for me, let me know.
-
for the record, your trade had 5 veto votes, which is half of the non-involved owners (assuming both owners involved would not veto their own trade.
-
One thing I'll say is that I wish all owners had cast a vote to either approve or veto—not just for this trade but for all of the ones we've seen recently. At any rate, I have clearly pushed all my chips in and will look to not screw it up. I did get the chance to see Soto live at Wrigley yesterday, so that was exciting. Might also be starting an auction shortly based on that Nats boxscore.
-
getting to this conversation late, but in my view (and as a contender affected more than most) the trade makes 100% sense from both sides. What Soto is doing as a 19 year old is literally unprecedented; at $2 (or $4 plus arbitration) he's probably the single most valuable asset in this league. Lots going back the other way that will help this year, but JDM is the only clear keeper.

Northern Daylights's trade block has been updated!
-
It’s crappy for you as a current contender. Good for both parties to the deal. Which was my implication in our judge discussion. I’m hoping this year comes down to the final days. And that next year I’m one vying for the cash. Good luck, all.
-
but...its not just Soto for JDM. and doubtful form your admitting you had to up your offer that he would have taken that trade. its still a crappy deal
-
My view is that it's $4 Soto, currently 7.55/game, plus $30 in the auction versus JDM at an amazing 8+/game. For a contender, stick to the veteran with 8+. For the rebuilder, go with the money and budding star.
-
So if I offered acuna that's what I would have gotten damnn.
-
The loans don't really bother me, just can't believe someone that Soto was worth all that. I mean JDM alone probably has more surplus next year at $33 than Soto will, not to mention the rest.

my point in naming players was simply to show you had options, which you confirmed by saying you had talked to teams, not trying to say any one else's offer is better than the other. Your trade is still a crappy trade made by a manager who stated he was going to trade JDM to my competitor, and the low return makes this look really bad.
-
$200 is not too bad. I'm running second in league 430 to a team with $802 of salary. https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/430/team?team=3250

and you trading almost $200 in loans away this year already is good for the league?
-
With a rebuilding roster, are you seriously arguing that Judge at $20 is better than Soto at $4 for next year? And vetoing is for collusion or mistake or maybe a deal made for spite or in view of leaving the league in disarray. None of that is the case here. And I think Winkler and Happ are far below Soto in talent and future value, so I'm not sure where you were going with that example.
