Also, March 19 is the first weekend of the NCAA tournament. I am not keen on spending 12 hours glued to the computer all day.
-
I really think we need to get this out of the way quickly. I second the comments about all drafts happening that close to the season. Maybe we should try the old fashioned google doc? I believe I can add players manually at set prices.

I'll send out the league email. Give me a few minutes...
-
Problem is those two weekends are when every fantasy draft is scheduled for, and I'm sure everyone here is in other leagues. This one will take out the entire day, with maybe some of Sunday too. We have this time now, we should use it.
-
FYI, if you go to the "Teams" page and then choose someone's name from the drop down, you can see their email address. If someone has a couple minutes, maybe it would be best to put together an email list for the league to discuss the draft, etc.

i second the 19th. i think the draft FAQ stated the usual draft time is the weekend before the season starts. could be wrong there though. it might help us more adequately determine value to know injury status as close to the beginning of the season...

I think that's too late...if we wait until then and then it can't go, we're SOL

We should try to put a couple hours together saturday. I can see it being a problem if we wait to do it. I know one guy said he was moving. Can we stake out like 4 hours, say 9AM PST/12PM EST to 1 PM PST to 4PM EST to get it off the ground?
-
sat morning works for me. any responses from email? also, we should try our best to make sure all 12 teams are there. i think it would take away from the league to have someone missing. i'm sure we can find a middle ground, even if its in stages.
-
Hey Gents. Nice to meet you all. I'll go ahead and second an auction plan that begins on a Sat. morning, and extends forward into a weeknight or two if neccesary. I'm an engineering student - so weeknight are hard to come by.
-
what is the rule on missin an auction? do i get like kicked out of the league or does my team auto-fill?

your team will auto fill but my experience with auctions is that this is always terrible. I don't think you'd want to start a keeper league that way.... and actually I'm not even sure if fangraphs has an autopick feature

Side note: Did anyone get their $10 refunded yet? I think I was in the first 100, but haven't seen my refund yet. Just curious.

I'm pretty flexible on nights (east coaster), and this Saturday is great for me too. Maybe a combination of the two is best... scheduling a solid long block this Saturday, then piecemealing the rest of the auction over the next few weeks during weeknights
-
doorbot. you have quite a job ahead of you finding a time when 12 different people across (presumably) four time zones have 8 hours of spare time lying around....

I don't know if everyone is seeing it, but I have email addresses on each team page. I'll be sure to notify everyone--in fact I'll probably have to email everyone to make sure as not everyone is weighing in here.

I participated in a 20 team auction with 30 player rosters (so 600 total) last sunday and it took 6.5 hours. I think we should be able to do it in roughly that time frame.

hah, we could do 1100pm et and do an all nighter with code red and funyuns...

I'm fine with this Saturday. Let's do as much as we can then, and knock out a few hours every night until we get this thing done.
-
I don't think there's a chance we get it all done in one day, even if we block off 12 hours. Max of 480 players, even if auctions average 90 seconds, that's 12 hours right there, with no breaks and no snafus.
-
You can still see the auction if you put in the URL .../37/draft, but it might not show up unless I hit "start auction" again. The problem is that starts the timer.

did they take the auction tool away? I could get in before but can't find it now

That was my understanding as well, however I'm not seeing minor league players in the auction tool. Try searching for Harper or Trout for instance.

I propose Saturday, March 5, 8:00 PT/11:00 ET for the auction. I am not opposed to weeknights, but it would have to be piecemeal that way. Feel free to shoot down this suggestion and propose a different time.

Yes, that's my understanding. Anyone in the player universe can be on your roster, provided you have the roster spot and salary room for them

and just to verify what you guys are saying, we can draft minor leaguers, but they will affect your current salary during the auction draft and your 40 man roster. that is what i've gathered from the site and you helpful gents...
-
i'm fine either way. to be honest, weekday nights are best for me. not that i'm a weekend partier, but those are the two days of the week i enjoy spending time with the wifey. but if the weekend is what works, i'm totally down.
-
Is there anyway we can schedule like a Saturday just to have the full draft? It could start at like 7:00 a.m. PST/10:00 a.m. EST and we could get it all done in one fell swoop.

I believe you draft between 23 and 40 people to your roster (subject to the salary cap) and then during the season you are required to have a 23 man active roster with the other 17 spots open for reserves (including minor leaguers)

I think running through a few players each night is a great idea--but we need to be sure that everyone is available or someone would miss bidding. I think sending out an email to notify everyone 24 hours in advance should work. I can post before as well.

also wanted to say hello to everyone and really looking forward to getting into a deep, active league. i'm fine with drafting it all in the morning on a weekend or a few hours on weeknights. However, I'm working on my MBA and have class Tuesday and Wed
