Thunder: I escalated it because you threatened me with expulsion over a rule that you are misinterpreting.
-
It's that someone could literally roster 40 prospects and not compete at all, messing with league parity. It's the same logic being used.
-
I'm just airing this out in the public now because my longtime standing in the league is being threatened. If I were in contention for the top slot, of course I'd want 5+ RPs that can boost Pts/IP. But since I am not going to win it all this year, I'm trying to lay the groundwork for future success. I fully intend on hitting 1500 IP. Can we say that everyone in previous years has done that? Can we say everyone hits their 162/810 positional reqs? Probably not.
-
For me the harm is that it is rule #1. If we can't follow or choose to skirt that rule, where do you draw the line in the sand.

I have taken a lot of opinions into the matter, came up with a solution. I asked politely before the season started and you quickly escalated to a level that didn't need to happen.

Just curious, what's the harm?
-
When guys have people get injured they have always tried to fill the roster spots. So yes when they have 5, 1 gets hurt they normally auction up another to fill in.

You seriously need to just read the slack conversation, it's the same thing. There is a huge difference between a guy getting hurt and intentionally ignoring a rule that is quite literally on the rules page over semantics.
-
What happens when one of the other teams that has 5 RPs has one get injured? Under your rules, they would have an illegal lineup, but in reality they do not. If me slotting five pitchers into my RP slots is what you need, I'll do it. The very fact that Ottoneu's UI allows me to do so goes to show that I am following the rules. It's been this way for years.
-
A whole lot of people on Slack would disagree with you being within the rules. Like not rostering a catcher at all, etc. It's more a spirit of the rule deal, and for the most part, people agreed you needed to fill the roster as stated then do whatever you wanted with the other 18.
-
All I care about is if he can reasonably get to 1500 innings, which he can. I think it's a bad strategy, but I don't think he should be forced to grab four more RP. Maybe reach a middle ground and pick up 2 more?
-
Thunder: the rule says SHOULD, not MUST.
-
I really don't see why this an issue, but hey, not my league.
-
I am adamant that my roster is within the rules here, based on my six years of Ottoneu experience across a variety of Ottoneu formats.
-
This is a very basic rule. Literally rule #1. Everyone else abides by it. I am not trying to make it this big of a deal. I asked you nicely to fix the issue. Thanks for your cooperation.

This same debate was on slack, not sure if you're the guy who was talking about it, but it's a pretty obvious way of skirting the spirit of the rule. Just get the 5 RP, it isn't difficult. I'm with the commish.
-
And here I was, making no-trading bets to provide spice to the dregs of Spring Training. If I had known we'd have Nelson Cruz II: The RP Sequel, I would've kept right on trading!
-
Please look at my lineup for April 2nd. My lineup is legal because I am now betting that Berrios, Ray, and Tanaka get called into the game if their teams go deep into extra innings. Make sense?
-
I DO have a valid roster. If you want me to slot other pitchers into my RP slots every day this season, I will gladly do so.
-
Fake History: You are the only one that is not following rule a) of a valid roster. I have kindly asked you to fix the problem. Lets not make it a bigger deal then it needs to be. Thanks

... If a player in a team's lineup RP slot does start on the day they are in the RP slot, they will not accrue statistics."
I feel like my spot in this league is being unfairly attacked, so here is proof of me being threatened for not doing anything illegally: http://imgur.com/a/Gglab

The relevant part of the rules: "iv. All pitchers will have both SP and RP eligibility on the lineup and roster organizer pages. However they will only accrue statistics if you use them in the same manner as their MLB team
A. SP spots must be taken by pitchers who are starting in MLB games. If a player in a team's lineup SP slot does not start on the day they are in the SP slot, they will not accrue statistics.
B. RP spots must be taken by pitchers who are in the bullpen in MLB games.......
-
"Each team should maintain at all times a roster of 22 major-league players that can fill out a starting lineup. The remaining 18 roster spots can be used for reserves, consisting of both major and minor leaguers." Key word here is "should"- it does not say "must." Also, each owner can literally slot a SP into an RP slot if he/she so chooses, but cannot actually accumulate points unless he is used as the position he's slotted into states. ....
-
Hey all, I just wanted to post this to the league community board because Thunder is threatening to kick me out of a league for following a perfectly legal rule. His argument is that my roster is illegal because I do not have 5 "RP" on my 40 man. I am not legally required to roster five, and this is a tactic that I and others have used for years when rebuilding because having a young prospect makes more sense than having a low level middle reliever. The rule states that...

I actually told Thunder that would be the ultimate test. Offer me some ridiculously one-sided trade to see if I could hold up my end of the bet, then yank it one minute before the week expires.

Just in case everyone is wondering, Sanchize is NOT dead. He has made a bet that he would go a week without trading with me and is doing a good job so far. Wanted to make sure I put all your minds at ease.
