Agreed

Back to reality we all go. Full arb, full standard rules is my vote. We like the arb
-
As far as arbitration? I think we should have a much more normal year than we had in 2020. Not as normal I as would hope, but close enough for standard arb. That’s my opinion at least.

Hey all, just a friendly reminder...cap cut down day is 1/31. It is also the day that rosters lock and your payment to Ottoneu is due.

Just like real baseball, Liam Hendricks still on the market. Probably off the block once he signs as a closer so if you’re interested send message/offer. Looking for SP, open to taking on cap space. Only a few weeks left for the hot stove!

Merry Christmas all!

Looking to for an upgrade at SS and 1 SP

Still looking for 1-2 more top 20 starting pitchers, willing to overpay

In fantasy baseball it's the 'emotional bias that causes individuals to value an owned object higher, often irrationally, than its market value.' Or: Why I haven't dropped $8 Luis Urias yet

In psychology and behavioral economics, the endowment effect is the finding that people are more likely to retain an object they own than acquire that same object when they do not own it.

About 15 mins, special shout out to a handful of teams for taking a lot less time than others!

God how long did that take lolol

Happy thanksgiving everybody! I have received a fairly large number of trade offers. I have been fairly busy and am slowly sifting through them. Just FYI if it takes a few more days or a week to get back to you all.

Love the feedback Tigres! Although the mandates may affect some health decisions. MLB and MLBPA contentious negotiations are mainly centered around $$$. Owners claiming reduction in revenue and MLBPA eating their young.
-
what kind of clarity are you looking for? they are going to try and play a full season, with as many people involved as government allows. the minors leagues will likely continue to be a mess, and there probably wont be a larger fix under after the cba. at least one of the leagues A ball leagues has disaffiliated away.
-
I sure hope MLB and the Players Association gives us some clarity on the upcoming season.
-
Ready for the Hot Stove, considering moving one of Harper/Greinke/Jansen to open cap space for the auction. Open to offers on anyone, looking for SP depth as usual. Great league let's keep it active in the offseason while we're all stuck inside!!!

Those of you that have already done your ARBITRATION for this year, please reset your #s to $0. There are no commissioner tools to override this yet and this would have to be done manually by yours truly. Thanks.
-
Based on the preceding discussion, the majority of respondents are against having arbitration applied for this year only. As such only the normal salary increase of $1/$2 will Stand. NO arbitration. Good luck to all. It seems that we might be able to start trading early because of this. I’ll check w Niv.
-
Quite literally the same 4-5 people make up the top half of the league every single season. I can see how it would be tempting to avoid arbitration if you're in that boat.
-
I'm not going to wade too deep into this, other than to say that 1: I am "strongly" against arb for a 60 game season(we already ate ~$80 of inflation), but will not protest if we end up keeping it and 2: This league isn't top heavy, we've had 4 different winners in the 5 years I've been here.
-
Agreed, please keep arb as is.
-
Coming from a clearly rebuilding perspective, clearly we should arbitrate. Avoiding arbitration only favors the favored of the previous season. I've got other leagues I'm in the driver seat in, some of which I am commish of, and there is not a chance we're considering avoiding arbitration despite it's disadvantageous nature to my squads. It's part of the annual fantasy cycle and, if anything, this league needs it more than most.
-
Erm* The more or less top 5 have been more or less the same top 5 for longer than I've been in the league. I stopped checking in 2018*
-
In terms of strong opinions I'm not sure we have a simple majority, let alone the 8 to 9 owners Hellbenders (rightfully) suggested in overturning a standardized rule intended to fight against an annually top-heavy league, which we now currently have. The top more or less 5 have been more or less he same for longer than I've been in the league by a long shot
-
I prefer to suspend arbitration this year

I didn't realize there was a discussion on this board too. My thoughts were basically I'm ok either way, slightly prefer no-arb. I think 60 games was fun considering we got to the end, but the lack of a minor league season really mucks things up.
-
Just gave my 2¢

Still need to hear from Donkey and Fancy,
-
I’m fine with suspending arbitration for 1 year only but I think there should need to be more than a simple majority to . Maybe 2/3 or 3/4

So I have given this some thought and this is my opinion. Some of us, if not all of us, made adjustments in player decisions based on the wonky MLB year that was the 2020 season that we normally wouldn't have made. Some players wouldn't even be on rosters had this been a normal year. As such, I do not support normal arbitrage. I will support normal inflation.
-
Personally, I would have nixed the inflation and then proceeded with arbitration but that is not an option. I vote no on arbitration. 60 games isn’t even half a season and I felt like having guys and teams out of the lineup impaired the ability to even consider deals.

id prefer to play it out and keep both systems as is
-
My thoughts... I would like to suspend arbitration for just this year. It doesn't seem right to add that 30+ $$ for just a 60 game season. I would keep the $2/$1 increases. These are separate issues
-
Keep arbitration as is please.
-
I’d rather not have any arbitration at all but I am happy either way the league decides.

I think everyone is a year older and an official season was played, not sure why we should change the standard operating procedure just because fewer games were played. Everyone is in the same boat and I think normal arbitration would be just fine this off-season personally.
-
Arbitration starts tomorrow and runs through 11/15.
-
FYI Niv already banged everyone for the salary increases. I would have to change back manually. We can easily halt arbitration at this point.
-
Here are Niv's thoughts on this earlier this year: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/covid-19-changes-for-the-2020-mlb-season/7611
-
Do we need to vote on having arbitration and salary increases of $1, $2 etc This year? These are two issues that should be discussed separately. It seems silly to add $$ to everyone for 60 games. My thought would be to get rid of at least arbitration for just this year. Thoughts????
