I actually somewhat support vetoing Ike's trade considering the circumstances...I HATE dictating what Brown can do, which is why I'm holding off, but that's pretty crappy.
-
Also, vetoing Ike's trade because he vetoed yours sounds like a good precedent to set as well.
-
I simply alerted everyone, and they made the decision as to whether it was veto worthy. I was ensuring they had an opportunity to veto if they felt it necessary. Each person sets their own standards for vetoes. I didn't make anyone vote any way.
-
Brown - why are you so insistent on practically giving Gonzalez away?
-
Veto Ike's trade too! C'mon. Justice, folks

I will say however I don't like at all the fact Ike turned around and offered another AWFUL trade to Aaron. Come on Ike, that's kind of shitty. If I had known you all would do that I would have never vetoed. Don't be stupid.
-
I tried to explain my feelings on it Christian, and had nothing to do with positioning of anyone. I just didn't like the double awfulness that I had said before...
-
Also notable that the campaign was led by 2nd and 3rd place teams. Setting a dangerous veto precedent.

I know at least one other person you contacted about it. Shenanigans.

I didn't get everyone to veto. Sam started calling everyone and I just helped get in contact with your brothers and DK.
-
One person voted to veto the Rizzo deal, and that's the only other veto vote of the season.
-
I am interested in trading Chris Davis if anyone is interested.
-
Haha. Ten vetoes. What a bunch of dicks.

Isn't it kind of gross for Ike to advocate for a veto and then get his own lopsided trade through? Shenanigans.

That's weird, Brown. Would you rather have a $24 Samardzija than an $8 Anibal Sanchez, which is what I offered you first?

It's more than one, I know, but I'm not one. I'm guessing 4-5.
-
Probably just my one...which I've tried to explain why as best I could. It's the fact there are two problems...lopsided deal and tons of cash to facilitate it.
-
Curious: How many vetoes so far?
-
Numerical bullet points FTW
-
Also, you (christian) and I should feel like DK for our use of numerical bullet points.
-
I dont think unbalanced trades should be vetoed just because they are unbalanced (negotiation is a key skill). But if a party is unaware of options because they are confused about the rules, that is where I take issue
-
2. And even if you think it wasn't a fair return, are you saying you think unbalanced trades should be vetoed?

1. He didn't give me a player for nothing. He may have been able to get more, but he got two players that I was planning to keep going into next year.
Paul Dano on

But he basically just gave you a player for nothing, PLUS threw in the cap room to facilitate it without getting any real value back. That's my issue.
-
Christian, I agree that the other trade is awful...however it doesn't really make a lot of sense for either side, so I'm not worried about either getting a leg up
-
Referring to a previous trade is relevant to a discussion of what is a veto-worthy trade.

4. Actually, the rules do not specify any reasons why league owners should veto. My statement was based soley on my interpretation of the rules. I would argue that a misunderstanding of the rules is sufficient grounds for veto.
-
3. Refering to a previous trade is irrelevant to this discussion (you'd probably know it as a red-herring arguement). You're right though, I should have said Hanson was a terrible player.
-
2. It is certainly not feasable. Don't try to act like it is. A free elite player for an old injured OF and decent injured prospect will never add up (not even if we factor keeping players).
-
1. We understand the economics of ottoneu, it's not that complicated
-
And how is not understanding the rules grounds for a veto? It's not like they're classified.
Paul Dano on

And for the record, I'm not the one who said "Hanson is a young pitcher with room to grow." That's gross right there.

But the trade value of the pieces aside, it's certainly feasible that an $8 Crawford and a $4 Hultzen are worth more to his team than a $39 Carlos Gonzalez and $24 bucks of cap space that expire at the end of the year.

I do think that some of you are misunderstanding the economics of Ottoneu. From your responses, it's pretty apparent he could have gotten more for Cargo, but that's not grounds for a veto.

Brown probably misunderstood the keeper rules. That's my best guess. If true, that is certainly grounds for veto
-
Hey guys, I'm looking for an OF a Middle Infielder and SP, so if any of you guys wanna work out a deal let me know!
-
to help out keepers and such for next year. But I have never essentially just given up a player for nothing, and helped that process by giving cap room. No logic to the trade, sorry.
-
Anyone want to trade me an all-star for a disabled OF and a minor leaguer? Oh, and could you pay for them to play on my team? Text me if interested.
-

-
The trade literally makes no sense, at all. The fact he not only traded Gonzalez, but then gave you $24 cap room, while only giving Hultzen is a disaster. I put a veto on the trade, I'll just go ahead and tell you. I've made bad trades in the past trying

that's why I asked him what the thoughts were...I'm curious why he would even propose it

so, I think if he thought it was in his best interest, not sure why you would veto. I didn't manipulate him. Unless he was purposefully tanking, I don't see grounds to veto.

Im not really for vetoing trades......but really Aaron? You even dumped $24 of cap room for that deal? And all you got back was basically Hultzen? Is this actually a vetoable trade? What is your logic?
