Reminder: There is one week remaining to make your allocations. If they are not made, then you'll just miss that chance. Nothing we can do after the fact.

Arbitration has begun. If you do not allocate your arbitration money before the deadline (all of it) with at least $1 on each team, your allocation will not count.

Hopefully, a prize structure will help incentivize people to build teams that won't be 2000 points behind in late July.

Welcome Patrick!
-
But again, to your point- I don't think raising the cost will help that. It doesn't raise your chances, or provide any more real incentive, to continue rotating your players when you're in 10th place and 2,000 points behind in late July.
-
Thats fair. And if thats the goal, then I (and certainly others) are probably not the right fit for your league. My passionate drive for success usually does not show up in Fantasy Baseball.
-
And to address DK's point: my goal for this league isn't just activity. I want this to become a high-powered league of passionate, committed players that will show up on the Ottoneu-wide leaderboards for total points on a season-by-season basis. That requires more than just checking your team. For example, I don't want any other teams missing their innings limit by 400+ innings.

Welcome, Patrick Mock, to the league. Let me know if you have any questions about the league. I'm sure the other owners will all be willing to help out too while you catch up.

Ok, since there are no additional nominations, Patrick will enter the league without a vote. I'll get that taken care of asap.

In other words, what I am saying is that I am not fully opposed to any buy in system, just that our league does compete and thats enough for me.
-
I understand that. But my point is that involvement doesn't seem to be an inhibiting issue in this league. People try and we have fun. I'm guessing involvement drops significantly in the lower half of the league after the first couple months, because the structure of this system makes is extremely hard to make a significant comeback. That wouldn't change if the top 3 positions were in the money or whatever.
-
So the current system will only get rid of those people who are so blatantly non-involved that it's an easy choice (ie. Sam last year). Creating a pay structure encourages competitiveness more than just activity. When people put more into it, the league is more fun. I think having a relegation system encourages activity/competitiveness at the bottom of the standings, while a prize structure encourages activity/competitiveness at the top of the standings.

The only way a nominating system would work is if it were automatic. People don't want to vote their friends out, which is understandable. An automatic system would be a nightmare for a number of reasons.

It seems to me a better way of policing activity is not raising the rates but booting people out that aren't active. Isn't that the whole reason we put the nominating system in place?
-
I thought one of the reasons we came here to Ottoneu was to pay the $10 so people would be more active? This is a paid league. I finished last this season and was quite active. Shrews (3rd to last) was surely active. I'm not sure about Nick, Bax, and Ike, but from what I remember they make adds and drops and such. I have no doubt you put more time into it than others, but I don't doubt that people are active. So I'm not really sure what the problem is.
-
Patrick sounds fine to me. I have no other good ideas.
-
Also would people be open to voting for a buy in for next season? I think the issue is, correct me if I'm wrong, some are not confident in their chances for winning this year. I understand that. But i don't know about you but I always pay more attention to leagues that I put money into and I know the fantasy leagues with buy ins are always more active, competitive and fun. If we gave a year buffer would anyone change their vote to 'yes' for a 10 or 20 dollar buy in?
-
I nominate Patrick Mock. He my cousin. He will do a good job and be very active. He knows about ottoneu and wanted to join last year and has already been asking me if there are spots in our league. Because you gotta check your team everyday to be competitive I think we should get someone who really wants to play and understands the time commitment.
-
Good playing with you Shrews! Sorry to hear you're gone but understand the reasoning. Take care man.
-
I'll now accept nominations for a new league member to take over Shrews's team. Let's get them in fast. I'll take nominations until Friday at 11:59p. Then we will vote from the nominations received.

Just fyi I'm going to be dropping from the league. Things just busier and going to cut back on fantasy leagues. Been fun, even though my team has sucked pretty consistently. At least whoever takes the team will have a cheap Judge, Bellinger, and Ramirez to play with. Thanks to everyone for the last few years!

I've received some votes elsewhere and I've reached out personally to everyone that hasn't voted. It's currently close. Hope to receive more votes tonight.

I don't really care either way on the $, but since my team is shitty I'll vote no.

No. And I hope you're not going to let this pass without someone changing his no vote to yes.

I vote yes.

Actually, we need a second, but I assume we'll have one, as DK already said he would vote for this.

I hereby move for a $10 league entry-fee above the Ottoneu site fee. The prizes will pay out as follows: $60 for first place, $30 for second, $20 for third, and $10 for fourth. Please vote by Tues. Oct. 10 at 11:59 pm, Pacific. As always, vote in here or message me privately.

No one was nominated for relegation, so assuming that Shrews stays, this is our league as it will be for the next season. Congratulations to the shitty teams who live to fight another year.

DK - I know you said you'd be down if it were $10 on top of the Ottoneu fee. Does that mean you're a No for the $20?

Shrews - If you're on the fence, we need you to decide soon. If not, we need to start finding a replacement, so they can take over your team for arbitration.
