Thank you, guys. Tough day.

Sorry to hear that Flint.
I lost my co-manager, Zoey, last November 1st. She didn’t want to stick around to see a Cubs Championship. Brilliant doggy.
Cheers to the Great Gatsby.
-
I'm really sorry for you. I know exactly how hard it is to lose a dog who has been part of the family.
-
Early this morning I lost my best friend Gatsby, a magnificent retired racing greyhound. He wanted to hang on long enough to general manage one last Draft with meso he fought through his cancer for a few extra hours. This morning before sunrise he stole his final base. Thank you to Spa City for quietly agreeing to take over as commissioner in case of a last minute, well, you know.
-
If anybody has buyers remorse, it's a great day for trade negotiations. Due to 18 inches of snow last night, my office is a ghost town and I could use a distraction from the eerie silence.

It just seems worth pointing out that Adrian Gonzalez still crushes RHP, and 1B is relatively thin this year. Alex Gordon and Matt Duffy have everyday starting jobs, but I went to deep at their positions and too thin elsewhere so these guys are available at reasonable prices.
-
Also looking to make some moves, I didn't acquire enough high impact SP's, could also use a 2B and RP. Willing to take on $.

Fun draft this year, as always. If anybody is looking for 1B or OF, please feel free to let me know. I signed too many of them.

Don't forget the draft is tomorrow at 8:30 pm (eastern time, of course - the best kind of time).
-
In case anybody is interested in another team, there is a team being abandoned in league 548 "Recreate him in the aggregate". The team is called "Big Daddy's House," and although it needs work it has a number of great assets (Jansen at $16, chapman at $17, hanley at $8 and others). It seems like a decent league with very reasonable owners.
-
I'm far too technically incompetent to manage 2 different computer programs simultaneously...
-
I probably sound too old fashioned, but I would stick with the chat window. I will be carrying my laptop around as I put my kids to bed during the draft, plus I would wind up annoying my wife if I tried to participate in an online conversation.
-
If it would be helpful, I could get setup a GoToMeeting that would allow everyone to talk via computer or phone during the auction. I know there is a chat window, but thought I would throw it out as option if it could be helpful.

When you nominate, you run the risk of winding up with a roster spot filled. It's akin to a "blind" in poker in that you are invested in the auction at least once every round.
-
So I guess I'm just slow on the uptake but what is the benefit gained by not nominating anyone and sniping other nominations? Conversely, what's so wrong about it? If they are going to be nominated anyways does it matter who it is doing the nominating and bidding?

First injury of the post-keeper deadline is Josh Bell due to another knee surgery. Pirates fans and Thoroughbreds fans across the country are very upset.

Somewhat of an anticlimactic keeper deadline but that was expected. Looking forward to the auction draft.

By my quick (and probably inaccurate) math, we have 348 players and $3,959 carried over after the keeper deadline. Should be a relatively quick auction draft this year. But it is always an interesting time. I'll look forward to seeing you all online on 2/12 at 8:30.

I have a team in 3 different leagues. 1 league is totally dead - nothing going on. Another one is hyperactive - at least a dozen trades today. This league is somewhere in the middle. I have seen trade offers and messages but it is mostly quiet. I suspect at least 60 more players will be cut tonight.
-
Also surprised David Ortiz is still owned in 25% of leagues. Maybe waiting until the last second to see if there is any chance he might come back. I wish he could be considerate of the Ottoneu cut deadline and make it official before today is over.

Those were my thoughts too, looks like there will probably be some last minute cuts though.

No last-minute deals today? This is usually a busy day for trades.
-
Everyone's renewal date is after 2/12, so no one needs to pay Ottoneu before the Draft. I'll send a reminder e-mail to everyone about the date & time in a few days, but does anyone have any questions about the draft rules?
-
If anybody is doing last minute shopping... I am looking for OF help, and I have SP and RP to trade. Jose De Leon and Cody Allen are available. I can't see many closers going in the draft, and those that do will cost $15 to $20, so Allen should have value.
-
Sorry - just caught my typo in my last message. I need a lot more coffee this morning!!! BTW - any last minute trade ideas are welcome.
-
There is some depth at SP and SS, but there is almost nothing at 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, C or RP.
-
Average for 6th year leagues is 294 keepers at a total of $3,239. We have 375 rostered players at a total of $3,821. I think there will be a lot of keepers this year, so it will be a thin draft. But I am looking forward to at least several dozen cuts. Always interesting to see who is kept/cut.
-
We are all counting on you, Winnetka, to fill the auction pool so we will not be disappointed. Simply cutting Altuve, Contreras, Syndergaard, Chapman and Miller would really help ease our disappointment! ;)
-
Sounds great! As of right now, I don't see this auction running too late. The pool of players out there this year seem to be a bit thin. The way I see it, there is going to be some disappointed auction owners after this auction with some massive overpayments.

I set the Draft for 2/12 at 8:30, pending the thumbs up from enough owners. I have been down in Miami all week for the Pegasus World Cup, so I missed much of the discussion.

My suggestion is that we should stick with 2/12 at 8:30. If we start right on time and if everybody is ready to nominate when their turn comes up, it won't take too long. If it does, we could always split the draft and finish the following weekend. The commissioner can put a draft on pause and re-start it later. It is always hard to find a day and time that works for everybody.
-
Not to be the old fuddy duddy of the group but if we are pushing it back that late can we look into a different weekend?

Mountain time, so later is not a problem for me either.
-
I am in Pacific time so later doesn't bother me.
-
Yes, even 30 to 45 minutes later would be great.

I would not mind pushing it back a bit. But keep in mind the auction draft tends to take 3 hours or more. Would 8:30 or 8:45 work? If we start at 9pm or later, we will probably still be drafting after midnight.
-
How late do we think we could do the draft on the 12th? As I mentioned it is my daughter's birthday so the later it could be the better. It is currently set for 8:00 Eastern time, is there any way it could be a little bit later than that?
