Congratulations Spa City Thoroughbreds on making the top 10 in the Ottoneu Power Rankings!
-
I hoped Glasnow would get through waivers. As a Pirate fan, I like Glasnow but I find him frustrating to watch. I think he could (and probably should) be a reliever. If he could just throw his fastball and occasional curve, and focus on 3 or 4 batters per game, he could be really good. I have no idea how batters can hit this guy.
-
I would offer Greg Bird, Gleyber Torres, AJ Reed and others for a quality SP and/or OF. I would also trade players like Britton, Pollock and Beltre who are injured but might be solid keepers when healthy. Always open for business.

Yeah I wish I would have started Berrios yesterday. I wanted him to prove himself before I went and started him though.
-
I didn't watch baseball yesterday, saw this morning Happ had his debut, pretty good one at that.
-
Looks like Berrios has grown up, pitching a little more to contact, not trying to strike everyone out. In my opinion, the top ptching prospect in the game. If he has arrived, the Twins will give the Indians a headache all season.

I thought Hoskins might have been a product of Reading's incredibly hitter-friendly ballpark last year like his buddy Cozens. But Hoskins is tearing AAA apart this year and he is not blocked by anybody better, so Hoskins might turn out to be really good. I still think Cozens' 2016 numbers were inflated by that ridiculous ballpark. I would have been happy with him at $2, but I don't have anybody I would want to cut to make room for him.
-
Perhaps Winnetka is trying to lure someone into paying at least $3 for a player Spa City is hoping to pick up for $1 or $2.
-
I think I'll just never quite know what to think when Winnetka and Spa City talk about players considering Winnetka just talked up a player that was up for auction and Spa City talked down that same player and they both bid $2 on him.
-
Haha, we will find out soon enough who initiated the bid.
-
Nonsense... Hoskins is no good. He is just having a few good weeks at AAA before he declines and spends his career as a mediocre Quad-A "organizational depth" guy. Nobody should waste their money or roster spots on that bum.
-
If someone wants a good Philly prospect for your team Rhys Hopkins is the guy you should be bidding on. He has a 1.083ops on the same team that Crawford is on.
-
Crawford has been overrated from the get go. I agree with Flying Squirrels, his .646 ops last year and .462 ops this year in AAA proves it. Just 25 home runs in over 1900 career plate appearances in the minors shows he has no pop in his bat. Yes he walks more than he strikes out, but he also seems to have a problem stealing bases against minor league catchers as well. He wouldn't be on my roster for $1, not worth the space.
-
Admittedly this is self serving, but Crawford has a .205 BABIP at AAA, and based on his skill set and history that is going to fix itself. The past 2 years, Crawford had more walks than strikeouts. I believe he is the top minor league prospect who is not currently owned. But, yes - I would also love for his cap penalty to go away. So my objectivity is definitely questionable.

It may be more tempting if he wasn't completely unable to hit the ball in AAA right now.
-
J. P. Crawford seems so tempting a mere $5 minimum bid. My comment is in no way motivated by a desire to see his $5 cap penalty erased from my budget.
-
Out of the Gausman v. Gonzalez matchup I chose to start Gonzalez but bench Gausman. Gonzalez scored -18 and Gausman scored 51.
-
I think I have to bench Arrieta tonight at Colorado. 18 innings last night till 2am. I have to thing Arrieta will be asked to go at least 7 innings even if/when he gets into trouble.
-
I'm an optimist.
-
I hope you are kidding Flint... The DL Fairy has taken Adrian Beltre, David Dahl, Steven Matz, Zach Britton, the great Corey Kluber, Koda Glover, and Greg Bird - and the Work-Visa Fairy took Jung Ho Kang. I think my team has taken its fair share of injuries.
-
Spa City hasn't been visited by the Disabled List Fairy in earnest, yet. I'm coming for him & there's plenty of baseball left.
-
Well that didn't take long. Spa City in first place. I have a feeling he is going to stay there for the rest of the season. Oh well, we have next year.

Well there is hindsight kicking me square in the teeth. Zach Britton's arm is messed up two days after I declined to include him in a trade that I knew I should have accepted.
-
Well I'm glad you were wrong, I have them both on my team!
-
I also admit, I have been spectacularly wrong this year on more than a few opinions. Most notably, Lindor and Bundy, whom I just traded for in another league with Spa City.
-
Torres is so far beneath Baez in many ways. Not even close to having the power that Baez has, or had, at the same relative time. Fielding, I shouldn't have to explain the difference there. Not nearly as fast as Baez either. It's kind of funny, right after the Cubs traded Torres to the Yankees, Torres got a huge bump in the prospect rankings. Wonder why that is? East Coast fake news bias anyone? The whole Torres ranking really gets to me for some reason.

That was Fangraphs scouting report on Torres last year. I thought it was pretty accurate, other than the fielding. In my opinion, Torres' fielding grade is more like a 40/45. I've spent some time watching him. It is easy to try to compare Torres with J Baez, since they are from the same organization, similar build...etc.
-
Weird that your spell check changed "Mighty Nimrods'" into "Winnetka's".
-
If Torres was as good as advertised don't you all think he would be on Winnetka's roster?
-
The game is afoot. The great Gleyber Torres is available as the center piece of a trade to counter Winnetka's acquisition.

1 more OF start or 3 more OF appearances, and Eric Thames is an Outfielder this year and next. Come on Brewers... lets play Thames in LF tomorrow! Do it for all of Thames fantasy teams.

My team seems destined for mediocrity (or worse). Anyone want to take a run at Kershaw??

It is always a risk to trade pitching away. I was frustrated at 3B - I thought that was my best position with Kang, Beltre and Bregman, but Beltre no longer wants to play, Kang is worthless, and Bregman decided he prefers hitting ground balls. And I have been burning through IP too quickly. Mainly I needed to reunite the Seager brothers.
-
I feel kind of bad strengthening the already best offense like that, but Hill and Grienke could be some awesome arms to add to my rotation.
-
That's quite a trade coming across the wire #Panic
-
Things are not looking good for the Winnetka Cubs. It's manager has alcohol poisoning from his trip to Boston and now his ace pitcher has all sorts of problems with his arm. Anyone that has some surplus SP, I would be willing to trade one of my ace RPs like Chapman, Miller...... for a quality SP. Not a SP that is a hair better than what is on the free agent scrap heap.
-
Painful. I also tend to bench hitters against Syndergaard, Kershaw, and other dominant starters, and I had Weiters on the bench for his 38 point night. That was a crazy game.
