We could use a $3 or $4 OFer for our $9 Chris Taylor.
-
Kris Bryant! Let’s get some offers boys! Good offers. Shit offers. Bring them all baby!
-
Ditto $7 Ryan O'Hearn
-
$10 Rich Hill is on the block for a $3 or $4 player.

Given what Redbirds just said, my opinion is that we should table this discussion and bring it up earlier in the offseason next year. In the meantime, please complete the Doodle poll regarding times on Feb. 8 if you haven't done so already: https://doodle.com/poll/658cytt5s5anukpy.

I've been quiet as I'm in Costa Rica with rare & limited access to wi-fi. But I need to weigh in. I have zero interest in a slow draft at this point. I officiate massive volleyball tournaments on weekends, literally hundreds of teams. Some days are 13-14 hour days with zero access to my phone. If the draft was in May-December, I could easily accommodate a slow draft. HS and college volleyball are no more than a couple matches and done. But club tourneys take 100% of me. I can't do slow t

I don't see how this works. How can you bid on multiple players at once? What if I'm off the grid for 12 hours? How many times does a reset happen - do we even have enough time for this?
-
That sounds like it would take a billion years

(2/2) I retain the auction lead at $10. Then Tim Lincecum bids $30. The timer resets to 12 hours, and Lincecum would be listed as leading the auction at $26 and so on.
-
Every owner gets x number of simultaneous nominations on a platform like CouchManagers. It usually starts at 2 or 3 and can inflate as we get to $1 players. Every player has a primary timer and a reset timer for when the lead changes. When you nominate (or bid on) a player, you can place a reserve bid, tie goes to the earliest bidder. Example: I nominate Clayton Kershaw with a reserve bid of $25. His timer begins (say 12 hours), and he is listed on the board as $1. Then NYNGG bids $10. (1/2)

Ottoneu slow drafts are the worst. Just the opinion of an ardent fan of slow drafts.

How would a slow auction draft work? I’ve never done one

I am in favor of a slow draft. I would also volunteer to help Ben input the results.
-
I understand why guys might be against a slow draf and I am no computer expert...however I have exported rosters to an excel spreadsheet via a .csv file. I’m pretty sure there would be a way to import said rosters and save Ben the work. Im good with a standard draft just pointing out that the tech probably exists.

I don't feel passionately about the subject (except I don't love the idea of having to manually enter everyone's salaries), so I'm going to assume we'll stick with the standard format unless somebody else wants to put in the legwork of creating a poll, etc.

Upset of the century if we had two people in a baseball league from the towns of two third tier football squads (that’s right, I just relegated reading)

I’m east coast, but work until 6:30, plus I have a traffic-y commute. 8 perfect for me.

Slow drafts are cool. However, did Niv add a “pass” function? That would be awesome
-
Slow drafts or even slow auctions are the bomb!
-
I’ve slow drafted a number of times and it’s been great. Commish can deputize some extra players to help load the values, but entering them as they go doesn’t take that long.
-
I think much more can go wrong than right in a weeks-long draft. I greatly prefer simply starting earlier (or revisiting dates later in March)

As a matter of “can,” I believe the commissioner in ottoneu has the authority to place any player on any team at any price. So technically, you could do an offline or slow draft and enter the data later. For our purposes, it’d mean the draft would probably take weeks and give Ben a metric shit ton of work to do, so doesn’t seem like something we’d want to do

Is there a way to do a slow auction draft? I’ve never seen that option in ottoneu but I’ve heard other sites have it.

Damn you guys and your family lives! HAHA

I don't know about everyone else, but I could conceivably move up to 7:30 ET/4:30 PT, but no way I could go earlier. I'll update the Doodle.

We have a West Coaster who can't do anything prior to 8:00PM EST on a weekday, which is a totally reasonable accommodation. So we won't be doing anything earlier than that. Is there anyone who absolutely needs us to start *later* than 8:00PM EST on Feb. 8?

With that in mind, since I'm not sure how many West Coasters we have anymore (if any, besides me), please complete this UPDATED Doodle poll with an option to start as early as 6:00PM EST: https://doodle.com/poll/658cytt5s5anukpy.

I will be in the UK (in Oxford) - so five hours ahead. I don’t mind starting late - I am resigned to this being the only day that works, but I would beg for an early a start time as possible! Thank you.

This might be overkill, but I have created a new Doodle poll to pick a time for the auction draft on Feb. 8 (https://doodle.com/poll/9meugurg8sefg5vr). I'm assuming we will start sometime between 8:00 and 9:00PM EST, but if anyone has strict limitations in terms of when they can start, please let me know ASAP.
