well.... i was planning on staying competitive, and maybe making a push to the end of the season, but the kershaw injury is the nail in my coffin. and unfortunately, muddy chickens has so much of a lead...

Just a note: This time of year would be more fun if as a league we'd be more willing to negotiate deals. I know we'd all like to think our 1st offer is best, and endeavor to be as fair as possible, but IMO, too many deals die on the vine when there's still room to counter-offer. PS: Lunchladies remain Open For Biz.

I've got some interesting albatrosses looking to take flight, as well. Miggy, Chris Davis, Cutch, and Hosmer are all there for the taking. Kershaw, too, if you're feeling frisky! let's talk turkey!

My front office is also waving the white flag. Lots of Superstars 4 Sale at the Lunchlady Stadium (Hamels, Scherzer, Jones, Bruce, Miller, Ellsbury, Grandyman, etc etc) Make me an offer

The annual Monk All-Star purge is upon us. I'm entertaining offers for Bryce Harper in exchange for young and cheap stars of tomorrow. I willing to eat salary differences for the right deal. All-Star snub Jake Lamb is also available. Message me your thoughts.

Draft Day: March 23, 2016 8:30 PM EDT.
THAT'S THIS WEDNESDAY. My intention is to start precisely at 8:30 eastern. http://www.time.gov/
email/tweet/text/pigeon/ping me in any way to let me know if you're running late, etc.
Make sure the draft room works for you (http://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/209/draft) You can show up before 8:30 and start building your watch list, to make it easier to nominate guys. quick-noms make the whole process faster.
-
As the person who did not pay until the day of the draft I can attest that someone can take over your account and you can watch as they wreak havoc. I am now paid through 2017 LOL

hey everybody, don't forget to renew your team ASAP! if you don't pay up, your team may be automatically kicked loose from it's moorings allowing it to be taken over by literally anyone else who wants to play ottoneu. this happened last year and messed up the league and the draft something fierce.
so please, again, pay your $9.99 before Valentine's Day, or screw everything up for everyone.
Thanks!

so... did we get a new owner yet? we really should get this ownership situation figured out before hte keeper deadline hits!

I'm not sure how you figure out replacements typically, but my uncle is interested in joining. He's in a league with Alpine, Mohawk and Muddy and myself.

Hey guys, I give up. I haven't had the time to put into this league to stay competitive and I would like to offer my team up to a new player. Let me know how to proceed.

well... now that that's over (grumble grumble)... what better way to vent your postseason frustrations than by throwing imaginary dollars onto the payrolls of your fantasy opponents! get your allocations in by November 14th - and remember, you have to use your full $30, and give at least $1 to each team, or none of your allocations count!
-
Thanks, guys, for a great season. And especially thanks to Gerardo Parra and the Baconaters, for scoring the run to knock those pesky Muddy Chickens down a half point to secure the win! My three-year juggernaut has been built on such razor thin margins...

Congratulations to the Albatrosses!

after the fact, yes. but not for a live auction, i don't think... go to the current auctions page, and click on results for any completed aution, and it'll show you who started it.
-
On a side note, it is possible to see who started what auction?

"I would have to drop a $20 player just to have the opportunity to maybe get him for only $1?" - IMO, yes. I see spending money you don't have as different than adding a player you can't fit on your team. The point is moot, because ottoneu agrees with you, not me.
-
The alternative would be preposterous. If I thought Brandon Phillips was an $11 player, I would have to drop a $20 player just to have the opportunity to maybe get him for only $1? And if somebody bids $12, I would be out both players. The cap is a constraint not a punishment. I fail to see how it should be, in any rational game construct, any different from the roster limit.
-
The only reason the 40man limit isn't firm is because players on the 60-day dl don't count against it, whereas they do count against the salary cap in full. In every other way, they are the same. The "firm"ness of it speaks to that usage. Otherwise there would be a rule explicitly stating that you cannot place a bid that would put your team over the cap.
And the reason for that is, if you just won a bid, you'll most likely need to drops player to stay under 40. And when you do, you fi
-
I see that it works the same way. However, nowhere is the rules it mention a firm cap on the roster size, only the payroll. It seems that this rule is erroneous, as you proved this is NOT a firm cap.
Secondly, I do see a difference between having an invalid roster (over 40) and spending money you don't have.
So, your analysis of my interpretation is incorrect. My interpretation is I see going over roster size as different than going over salary cap.
-
if you're up against the cap, you don;t have to cut a player to make a bid; you have to cut a player (or players) if you win the bid.
-
it works the same way as the 40-man roster limit. you can exceed the limit to acquire a player, you're just in an invalid state until you cut sufficient players as to bring you below the limit. you just bid on 14 players. your interpretation would force you to drop 14 players before making those bids. you just bid on 14 players. should you have had to drop 14 players to ensure that you not go over the 40-man limit?
-
What about the rules part IV, section D: d. At all times during the season, a firm salary cap of $400 exists for all players.
I'm making a stink, because if he was limited to a $2 bid, which would have kept him at the $400 limit, I would have won the Mazara auction.
-
Don't worry. MLB will float you a loan. Ignore the big SELL THE TEAM billport we're erecting near Albatross park.

Yup. I just have to clear the cap space now. You don't have to free up the cap or roster space before you win. But if you don't do it after, your stats for the day don't count.
-
How the heck can AA have -1 of cap space? You can bid more money than you have and win??

That didn't last long.
