BK & Domo - exactly right. And yes, I accepted the trade after the incident with the throwback unis (you can't make that up) happened. So another risk. And Matz pitched great today fwiw.

I love the competitive nature of everyone. There is a veto option that people can use if they so choose. who knows when Sale may pitch for Kang since he just got suspended....

If you disagree with the trade go ahead and veto it.

Look, nothings going to change at this point so have your last word. I'll agree to disagree on this issue.

King, you just used your influence to have two owners reverse a trade they agreed to. You can't have it both ways.

To give an example I personally thought trade 22538 was a terrible, one-sided trade in favor of the guy directly behind me in the standings, but I didn't object or do anything to block it. Two owners exercising their judgment on what was fair. Not my role to substitute my judgement on that. I don't think we've ever had 7 votes to veto a trade ever, either. That's the process if you don't like a trade

Very bummed that Scott is leaving us, though. Not only do we lose a good guy, but we all have to deal with Anand!
-
Plus, Sale just went all Edward Scissorhands on us and has a 4.87 ERA in his last 10 starts. I'm hoping he really gets distracted and sticks for King - we need lots of help to get back in it!
-
I agree with Strawberry on this one. First reaction to seeing one of the rental trades is that someone got robbed because a big name star goes one direction for young, cheap guys, but it's the way to rebuild. Sano wins next year once Sale is gone, especially if the Mets don't kill Matz.
-
For what it's worth, I think Sano and King's trade is fine and is a typical late season rental for "potential" -- I've done these trades in the past and I'm looking for one this year with the hopes of catching JD (bring any offers for stud SPs to me!)
-
Also, very odd timing that Sano would resign right after this trade is announced...

I still don't like it at all. Matz has lost 5 in a row, his ERA has gone from 2.39 to 3.56 during that time. Reports I've heard is that he could've opted for surgery now or try and pitch through this until the end of the season. Well, we've seen how that's worked so far. Who knows on Stewart? Obviously the Dodger's (who need starting pitching) opted for retread Bud Norris over him for now. I think if you let this go through, we let ALL trades go through. No objections when two teams agree

Plus it's a trade between 2 contenders. Not exactly in SANO's interest to help me, which is what you have implied.

At $11, he's still a keepable young arm with upside. Naquin, who you disparage, has a strong track record in the minors of doing what he's doing now (over .380 wOBA in AA, and over .360 wOBA in AAA). He's a bargain for $1 and they asked for him (I wanted to give them a different OF). Stewart is a MLB ready arm who is performing very well in the hitter friendly PCL. This trade is fine. Vote to veto it if you don't like it.

Bombo - Please. Of all of the trades to object to you pick this one, but were fine w/the trade involving Harvey who was on the DL and heading for season ending surgery while the trade was pending? Sale is a rental - at best I get 10-12 starts from him, but he's too expensive to keep. For that I give up a good young SP who has bone spurs in his elbow and is trying to pitch through it (as does Syndergaard for that matter, and is what Waino did a couple of years ago). (tbc)

Hold on, on that trade. A pitcher whose arm is hanging by a thread, a rookie who had his first hot streak and a pitcher sent back to the minors for sale and crisp? Seriously?

The mets filled Harvey's place on their 25-man mlb roster. That isn't the issue. They probably don't want to add anyone to their 40-man roster because once they add a player to it then it becomes harder to move them back to minors, etc. Kershaw looks to be definitely out for the year - just a question of whether he needs surgery.

I can't understand why they'd keep a roster spot for a guy who's most definitely done for the season. Kershaw's still a maybe. A weak maybe, but a maybe nonetheless. Why the Mets wouldn't bring someone -- anyone -- up to fill a dead spot is strange. Of course, it's the Mets, so that could be it's own explanation.
-
JA - teams normally wait to put players on the 60-day until they are forced to for roster reasons. I'm guessing the Mets just haven't been forced to do that. Dodgers in same boat w/Kershaw for example

It is amazing how your hitters can turn on a dime. My guys were smoking going into the All-Star break and since can't buy a hit. Tonight theyre 0-15, with zeros all the way across. Haven't seen that before.

Wow, the Cubs are in a free fall! The Pirates are on their way to winning again today. If they do, they'd have picked up nine games in the standings over the last 11. Kinda reminds me of the '78 Bosox, who led the Yanks by 14 1/2 games in August. People referred to it as the Red Sox trying to catch the second place Yanks.
