Guys, if you haven't done a trade with Clever Pun yet, please take a number and get in line. Well on his way to completing a trade with everyone in the off-season (which he came very close to last year as I recall).

I don't understand how people do allocations. the top 3 or 4 teams should have been allocated 33 bucks each. but looks like now team got more than 28. given how little the standings have changed in the top 3, unless people are willing to make it difficult for those guys to carry their star players, it will be very difficult to change the league competitiveness.

Mark - I don't think so. I think Kershaw @$64 right now is the highest we've had in our league

Arbitration doesn't begin until tomorrow. What's the highest anyone has paid in our league? I don't recall any salaries of $70 that we've had.

Just took a gander at average salary values for players. It shows the highest any owner is paying for that player. Believe it or not, Harper, Machado and Correa all have owners paying them over $100! I don't know if that includes arbitration, but if it doesn't...

Yes, Anand beat me this year because I was preoccupied.with other things. Anand better be ready for the usual beat down next year.

Correct. Rule VII.c says "c. Owners must always be able to field a 40 man roster for $400; therefore following the keeper deadline, a team salary must never exceed $360 + the number of players on the roster. However, there is no salary cap from the end of the MLB season until the keeper deadline.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we would also need to have $1 available for every open roster spot below 40.
BomboRivera on
October 3, 2016 3:37 PM

You then have to manage that amount below $400 by the keeper deadline.

The easiest way is to look at the Rules tab in the upper right corner and go to Section VII - that has the rules for the off-season. We follow the allocation method for arbitration, which begins on Oct 15 and ends Nov. 14. You can cut players before then. After that, you can trade or cut players until Jan. 31, the keeper deadline. Before Oct. 15 you'll have $2 added for every MLB player on your roster, and $1 for every MiLB player. That plus the amount allocated to you gives you total salary.

Congrats to the King, Here's to you and especially the Sharks! Fun season and great participation from top to bottom! Time to tear up my roster and re-build for next year -- needless to say I need to figure out my pitching staff.

Thank you. I thought I was dead in the water about a month ago and still can’t believe how hot my team got to end the season.

It reminded me right away of Tim Crews and Steve Olin, who played for the Indians and also lost their lives in a boating accident.

Having trouble thinking of a similar situation. Clemente, Munson, Oscar Taveras- but all were at different points in their careers and JFer had an incredible life story.

Fun fact I heard today - Shohei Otani is the lastest Japanese phenom who is likely headed to the MLB at some point. He is only 21 so it's unclear on when he'd get posted. He is both a pitcher and a position player (RF). He throws 102 mph and is considered the top SP prospect since Darvish. But, he plays every non-pitching day in RF and leads NBP in OPS at over 1000 OPS. Never seen/heard of a guy like that even in US college ball.

Nathan - can you check with Niv to see if he can allow me extra games or innings? That would give me a better chance of catching you :) More seriously, very cool that we still have 5 teams with a real shot at the money positions at this late stage of the season.

Hey Commish, my catcher games played didn't shut off at 162. If my California math is correct, it did allow Castillo 0.60 last night and now shows I have 163 Games played at the catcher position. Would you please correct this? Also we'll have to keep an eye on things, as others may have this situation occur. Thanks.

Was on fire? Last 6 starts JD has 334 pts from 43 IP, which is 7.8 pts/IP. That is on fire. And that included 7 perfect innings from Rich Hill and 8 no-hit innings from Kyle Hendrcks (when was the last time an Ivy-league product pitched a no hitter?).

Nathan did send the change in how to divide the winnings at the start of the year. I am indifferent as to the division, so if others feel strongly about one or the other, I'm cool with either, but I obviously also have a conflict right now, so will recuse myself.

Mark - that's correct. I'd proposed the change at the beginning of the year, but at this point I feel like I have a conflict of interest so would defer to the league on this.
