We’re running a little slower than I hoped due to some late bids with less than an hour left of timers. Going to reduce initial clock time down to 18hrs to help get us back on track a bit. Resets will remain at 12hrs.
-
yes...if you try to overbid a pop-up will appear that you only have "X" dollars avaiable
-
Will CM prevent us from overbidding on a player? Like, will it reserve $1 for each empty slot the way Ottoneu does?
-
First set of auctions *could* be finishing up in the next hour or so. Please stay on top of using your nominations to keep things moving. For those of you that haven’t nominated yet, please do so!
-
Timer next to a player's name is a countdown to end of auction. Once the auction ends, it will be removed from the auction list, will be moved into results, and player added to owner's roster.
-
You can bid on any active player, there is no limit there.
There only thing limited is how many nominations (auction starts) you have.
You may nominate a new player once the auction on a player you nominated ends, regardless of whether or not you won the auction.
-
Also, it shows that we’re allowed two bids right now. At what point does that reset so we can nominate additional players?

Just curious, how do we know when this auction is officially over?

Auction is officially open. Feel free to nominate.

We ready to light this candle?

Waiting til tomorrow sounds good. And a quick side note, I will say the site is moving a lot faster than it did this weekend.
-
Yes we should.

Shall we just shoot for tomorrow morning then?

“ Go back and make sure any auctions that ended during downtime have time added to them so that when everything is fully back you can hit the ground running.
I do not imagine it will be much longer than tonight to get stuff sorted out” (2/2).
Let’s wait for that “all-clear”

Here is the latest from Niv “ There are still a couple of bugs Mike needs to iron out this evening, but the site is mostly back.
If you have a slow draft going, I would make sure it remains paused until I can get an all-clear from Mike that all the issues are totally sorted out.” (1/2)

Looks like we’re back up. I’ll give it a couple hours to confirm and open things up this evening if everyone feels good about it.

According to the community forum, Niv is trying to help couch managers solve their issues - it’s still down as of this writing.

If you go to the community forum there is a discussion on this topic, and apparently couch managers is doing an upgrade Sunday afternoon and it’s clearly not done. Let’s see whether it is up and running on Monday.

This is a an issue with couchmanagers across the board. No auctions are running. I heard they are porting to new servers.
-
It’s saying the server cannot find the requested page. I’m cutting and pasting the address right from Santos message.

Hey guys, I’ve been trying to get into either the test auction area or actual auction and every time it comes up with an error message telling me to contact the webmaster. So you may have to go on and start without me tomorrow I know I had gotten in a while back, but now it’s not letting me.

Planning on opening up the auction between 9-10AM eastern on Monday. Will post here once it is open. You should also get an email from CouchManagers unless you have disabled that option on your account page.
-
Thanks Santo. I forgot about the test auction
-
I will send out another email later today with some more information that should be helpful.

Reminder that our dummy auction is still open to try out. Password is “test”. I’ve reduced clocks to speed up things over the weekend for folks demo’ing.

Bids are public. You can look and see bid history at any time. The only thing that is “hidden” is your max bid above whatever active bid is.
Everyone has 2 nominations to use. So yes, up to 24 auctions may be running at once.
Like Ottoneu, any player you auction requires $1 to start to the auction. After that you are not required to bid.
Note that Commish sent out via email on 2/15 holds lots of helpful tips and tricks.
-
I’ve tried joining a mock auction a couple times but haven’t had any luck. I have a few questions for the guys who have done auctions in couchmanagers before:
1) will bids be public or will we not know until the auction is over?
2) does everyone nominate 2 players and therefore would there be as many as 24 auctions at once?
3) do we have to bid on players we’ve nominated?
Any tips or details you think are helpful to know would be appreciated! Thanks

My roster is correct as well. So far, no one has raised any issues with that, which is great

Where did we land on start date? Taking another look and seeing we kept 63% of rosters filled (303/480 players), I'd expect us to be closer to 7-8 day time table. Meaning the 7th is about as late as I would feel comfortable starting...
-
My roster is also good to go. Thanks for the great work in setting this up!
-
My roster looks good!
-
My roster and salaries are correct. Thanks Santo 👍
-
Thank you Santo for doing everything to set this up. If each owner could please check their rosters to make sure it's correct, I'd appreciate. I will also endeavor to do so as a second-level review. If you see any issues, please let me and Santo know. Again, we have a week to tie up loose ends and can start the auction at the beginning of March - everyone will have a head's up on the start. Lastly, I'd encourage you all to join the dummy auction to test the mechanics.

Rosters have been uploaded. My quick check of the overall spots/$$$ looks correct, but PLEASE double check your own roster to ensure nothing went awry during data import. Friendly reminder that the dummy/mock auction is still open and running for anyone interested. Looking forward to the draft!

I’m in favor of completing the draft before the season starts.

I'd prefer getting it done pre-Tokyo just from a fairness perspective in terms of all players being eligible for all 162 games. While I don't feel super-strongly about it, if we did it something like March 3rd-13th (or thereabouts), we could get best of all worlds (fairness while still seeing some spring training). And free agency always exists in that extra time between Toyko and the start of the rest of the season.
-
I’m fine with punting the Tokyo games. Most leagues do anyway. That way it gives us a couple of weeks of actual spring training to see how teams are putting things together. We can still get everything set up, but the real season doesn’t start till what, March 27? It would be nice to hear what other owners think? Do you want to get going right away or hold off for a couple weeks?

It’s not a rush to start the auction. It’s that I still have some front end work to do getting rosters/keepers imported; which is easiest to do once everyone is in. As we’ve said multiple times the auction will take roughly a week (probably 8-9 days), meaning a 3/1 start gives us a about week’s cushion on the backend before the Tokyo games.
-
March 1 is the target date to start the auction. I said that in my email to the league and below. I was simply pointing out that we need to get all 12 in the system to start and that 10 owners had done so. Also I’m sure you know but the MLB season starts March 18. ST is compressed because of that.

Sorry for being the new guy here asking dumb questions, but I'm curious what the rush to get the auction started is for? ST literally just started. hasn't been a game played yet. if this slow auction takes close to (much less more than) a month then it seems to me that it's not the right answer. I'm not trying to relitigate the slow auction decision BTW, I just don't see the need to start so soon. Any clarity?
-
10 owners are set up and ready to go.
Just waiting for the last two. Once they are set up we can get the auction started.

It really truly is SLOW. You can check when you wake up and go to sleep and not miss anything. You’re not forced to nominate at any point, they’re simply available to start at your leisure. If you’re out on a player, engage “PASS” and it will gray the auction out so you don’t have to look at it every time. There is ample time to make bids and nominations that no one should feel rushed or that they don’t have a fair chance at any player that is available.
-
Just to echo Santo’s comments, we are in a league where we have to set lineups daily for 6 months, and there are constantly auctions going on. Santo also set up a dummy auction for us to familiarize ourselves with what this looks and feels like in practice, and I’d encourage everyone to take advantage of that.

To address Bombo and Chiefs concerns. I often work 12+ hr days with little down time during draft season and have found this the easiest way to draft. While there may be many auctions running at once, I’m often only interested in 2-3 at a time. The auction isn’t really constantly updating as it uses an eBay like format that auto increases bids and you will always have a minimum of 12hrs before a winning bid is determined. Honestly, I find setting lineups in season takes more time during my day.
-
this should be significantly easier than a live draft. it works well on an iphone also in case people have not tried it on the phone.
