poke... poke... allocation stragglers...

for those who did not notice, arbitration is open. you can enter/edit your allocations any time between now and midnight ET on the night of 11/14
-
at this point, everyone who was quitting has been replaced, right? if you are still here and do not want to be, let me know ASAP so we can replace you!
-
FYI, with my strickland cut, a) all rosters are now legal and b) the off-season is officially started. there is now no way to add players until the auction. trades will open up after arbitration (which will run 10/15-11/15). you can make cuts whenever you want, but remember there is no need to do so until the 1/31 deadline. if anyone has questions about the off-season stuff, let me know!
-
So I take it claims didn't process today? I put in several and nobody got them...
-
Boooo, signed a Canadian...

Thanks, Chad! Appreciate the intro and looking forward to removing the Canada reference from my team name.
-
Three things: 1) despite falling short of his 20k goal, Brad dominated this season. Congrats on a run away title! 2) Ryan announced that he is stepping down as owner/GM of the Edmonton Trappers. He even managed to talk shit to me in his resignation email. Farewell, Ryan. 3) Instead of completely replacing Ryan, we're just adding an L - Rylan Edwards will be taking over the team just in time for the off-season. Good luck, Rylan!
-
i have cap space, might as well use it for something!
-
/wins league by 1500 points
/still complains

Seems uncalled for...

y'all some assholes. Mostly Chad.
-
quick update - due to the monday game, the cut off for auctions is now SATURDAY at 11:59 pm ET, not tonight. so act accordingly.
-
two notes: 1) all auctions must be started by 11:59 pm ET on Friday 9/30. After that, auctions will be locked for the off-season. 2) If there are any regular season or tie-breaker games on Monday (Indians-Tigers being the most likely) those games will count towards stats.

I lost out on a couple of other 1B options previous to this...

I nominated him in the first place so I had an automatic $1 bid.
-
oddly, in the five or so days that took, brad didn't join the first auction but decided to join the second, and marc didn't bid in either before making the claim.
-
i was just price enforcing. not sure if it was effective or not.
-
Not sure I've ever seen a player auction for $3, get cut, clear waivers, get immediately auctioned for $3 again, get cut, then get claimed for $3.
-
I think the word you want is "run"
-
to be clear, i don't think we need to add any enforcement or anything. this league is pretty genial and in the past friendly reminders have served to keep things in line. I tend to assume any rule-breaking-type behavior in this league is accidental or at least not intended to cause problems and (as happened here) will be more or less self-correcting. so...yeah. thanks all for making this an easy league to...commission? be commissioner of? is there an appropriate word for that?
-
fair enough
-
There is one fixed penalty (not being able to set lineups/make transactions), and one variable penalty (left to the discretion of the commish) when a team is over roster limits. Most leagues have instituted a 48 hour grace period to get legal, though there is little agreement on what should actually be done to enforce it.
-
My take is that you should do whatever you want in-season. There is a penalty after all with very clear rules. And if that's insufficient, we can arbitrarily add more penalties for future seasons. But your roster should be valid at the end of the season for offseason purposes.
-
just a little note to say that it's kinda not cool to sit with an illegal roster for extended periods of time (like, say, more than the couple days it takes to sort things out). i know the system doesn't really enforce much punishment (can't bid, trade, or set lineups) for teams that are not contending, but I think team's should be trying to stick to the roster limit rules. not intending to hand down any punishments or anything - just a reminder that 40 players + 60 day DL guys is the limit.

Baby Bears's trade block has been updated!
-
Coulda sworn Chad won in 2014...
-
oh, how'd I not see that last year. You shoulda said something when I claimed the league record then.
-
well not quite...
-
Huzzah! I've beaten the league record!
-
First Eckstein123 gets a new GM, what's next, the D-backs?? I can't handle this much change!
-
Excited to be here! I apologize in advance (and ex post facto) for the flurry of cuts and auctions
-
Welcome, Justin.
-
BTW, I'll be officially removing Jeff (Justin has already been added) any minute now.
-
Hi all - some bad news and some good news. The bad news: Jeff Zimmerman is departing the ranks of FanGraphs Staff League Two ownership to pursue other interests (like having a life). Jeff, you will be missed. The good news: ottoneu expert and relatively new rotographs writer Justin Vibber will be taking over (and probably re-naming) eckstein123 effective immediately. Word is he plans to fire the manager and coaching staff and start over.Welcome aboard, Justin.
-
I've got Raimel Tapia, Dylan Cozens, and a bunch of other useful cheap pieces available.
-
trade deadline is in about 12 hours. who wants to make a deal?
-
Have had some recent pretty garbage offers on Posey, DeGrom, and Duffy, and although I'm happy keeping all will listen to any serious offers before the deadline.

Nevermind on my last message (looking for crappy SP). I got Sev back and Colon - good enough.
-
Avon Old Farms Winged Beavers's trade block has been updated!
-
Looking for a little SP depth. Either cheap garbage or low-price keepers. Obviously offering very different players depending on what you have...
-
Posey, Braun, Bautista available for the right deal (prefer quality to quantity in young players/prospects)

I'm shifting my attention from win-now pieces to offseason team management. Kershaw, Belt, Kipnis, and Lucroy are among the players I'm looking to move.
-
if anyone wants saves at a cheap rate, I'll move Kintzler for a prospect
-
The Razor Shines's trade block has been updated!
-
Hard offer for MadBum. Will move before next weeks start.
