My three rules#1 never get in a land war in Asia #2 never get in a thinking match with a Sicilian and NEVER trade a stud hitter for a stud pitcher

Plus did anyone see machado's knee? It's frickin November and we are worried about trades. Dumping should be the only time we bitch about trades
-
My life is too hectic with 3 active kids and j-o-b. I'd someone offers a trade I like I take it
-
Pay 50 do what you want when you want. Never veto
-
Weird trade, for sure, but I approved it. Half the reason I play ottoneu is to get ax close to real life as possible. The league wasn't vetoing any of Bavasi's trades last decade! So I try not to veto here.

I vetoed the trade. Poo Poo trade
-
I approved the trade. Don't think I've ever vetoed a trade. As a commish of a Yahoo league, I had to discipline a dumper. But that's it.
-
If the trade is vetoed I will have to deal with it, but I don't appreciate the implication that I am not operating my team in good faith.

Now that my credentials are corroborated, all I can say is I don't begrudge someone not liking the trade, even though I don't understand that opinion.

And he won't trade me Trout in that league, so he must be doing something right. Still a veto here, though.

Oh, nice. He's right about finishing first!

Hey guys. Anything new going on?

/ Looks up relievers in Oxford, doesn't see donkeys. Hits refresh. Hits refresh. Still no donkeys. :/
-
Look, as I mentioned when I first took over this team, I have finished 2nd and 1st the last two years in my other league, so I must know what I am doing. Just ask Laser, who is in my other league!

Teheran was $11, and while I admit he has upside, he was another player I was considering cutting.

And 4 donkey pitchers? Really? I will happily take one of the best 3 or 4 relievers in baseball in Jansen, and Alex Wood and Jaime Garcia are certainly no donkeys. Feliz is a risk, but so is Vizcaino.

Maybe he is a really big Dexter Fowler fan-I don't know. But the side of the trade that got the shaft has committed to the league for next year, nor did he pay for last years dues. What investment does he have to do what is best for that specific team?

That doesn't explain why you threw in Teheran for garbage.
-
Props to him if that is a fake team! Also means he created a fake google+ profile and is running two gchat conversations at the same time!! That's a lot of effort. I applaud that!
-
And I have not once argued that you have the right to veto any trade, each person has their own views on how they approve/veto trades.
-
I have always been a Machado fan, but I was on the fence about whether I was even going to keep him. And I understand why someone might call Craig elite, but I believe Fowler is just as good while being younger and cheaper.

Have no issue with you vetoing the trade. But don't accuse me of controlling two teams. Don't feel that's appropriate.
-
And how are we supposed to know if collusion was involved? Hey guys, did you collude? All managers can do is approve or reject the fairness of a trade.
-
Do I really need to justify this trade? Are we not all adults who are free to run their teams however they choose? I agree with Not Jim Tracy, in every league I am and in and the few I Commish, trades are only vetoed due to collusion.

I don't think it's fair. It doesn't make sense to me from any which angle. So I vetoed it.
USS Mariner on
November 21, 2013 11:47 AM
-
Again, I agree with that. Just see no need to say that's a possibility unless you view that as the case.
-
People can veto, but I don't believe owners should have control over what another owner does with his team. If there was no collusion involved, then f it. Just have to be more creative and prep better for the draft since there would be a new team to beat.
-
I am absolutely not accusing anybody of cheating. But the I believe the veto process exists to protect the league from unfair trades that can affect everybody
USS Mariner on

Certainly hope that you're not thinking I'm doing that. Again, I made several offers and found what he was looking for. I, again, have no issue if it's vetoed, but please don't think I'm cheating.
-
I'm not making accusations, but what is to stop me from making a fake account, picking up an abandoned team, making a shit load of lopsided trades and then cutting out before the dues deadline?
USS Mariner on
November 21, 2013 11:43 AM
-
I personally only veto trades that appear to be collusion, but the veto process is open for interpretation to each individual. Have no issue with people who veto trades as long as they have reasoning behind it other than you wanted to trade for the player
-
I have no issue if the trade is vetoed, want to make that clear. We went back and forth to find a deal that he liked. If the league feels there is issue with the trade, then by all means veto it.
-
So people can make lopsided trades because they pay to be in the league, but they can't veto? Is that right?
-
For the parties involved in the trade, it is assumed they approve. So 70% is needed to veto a trade. If 7 out of the remaining 10 don't like the trade, it is not good for the league.

That's pretty lame. So much for spirit of competition. Hey, I don't think I can beat you now so I'm going to press the veto button! POWERRRR
-
I veto trades that I don't think are fair. (I abstain from voting on trades I'm involved in.)
-
Ya. It is not a fair deal. I don't like it. I hit veto. Great country, right?
