The team I inherited....I wasn't very fond of....and so my main objective has been to be comfortable in last place, and gather cheap prospects. 90% of your guys trade offers to me are very one sided so this trade offer is no worse than anyone else's. Fried is 31, might be 5th in points but is 10th in points per inning, and pitched more than half his normal season. He'll be over $30 at the end of the year, which clears more cap space this off-season. And Hope still has....hope.....down the road.
-
I’m guessing Hope will be top 20, maybe top 15 when the relist everyone post draft.
-
I get it's all subjective but 5th best pitcher in the league for the #52 prospect seems pretty unbalanced. Just my two cents
-
Of course that should say “doesn’t”; stupid typo
-
Only reason I would veto it is because I want Hope. Seems pretty fair to me. Fried has been super good and the last place team flipping a stud SP who likely isn’t a longterm piece for them (and is likely having his peak year) for a hyped prospect does send up any red flags for me.
-
So everyone is hammering the "VETO" button on this Max Fried trade, right?
-
I can do both. Thanks Choo

Agreed. I get the strategy. I’ve done it myself a few times. But it is super annoying.
Same’s true of waiting 30 days, starting an auction for a player you dropped and then dropping him immediately after to minimize your cap hit….not against the rules, but tacky and annoying. I know most of us have done it, but doing it every time seems excessive.
-
Dear Choo – Please stop bidding $1 for players you don't really want and who know you can't win just so those of us who actually want the player must pay $2. Like the crappy early season trades where others are loaning you cash to win you the Championship on May 1, it's within the rules, but it's not fair play. – Signed, Managers Who Just Wanna Have Fun

I need a MI or 3B my guys are on the shelf and I can’t win an auction. Anyone looking to move a 2B SS or 3B send me an offer. I’m not looking to make a big splash, just a scenery change but I’m open to all offers. Act now, hoping to have a handshake by the end of the day to fill the gap this week. Thx
-
I agree Flama. You can’t look at numbers alone. Consistency over seasons is a much better predictor of value. At least for the top players. Ramirez is one of them. I look forward to seeing the trade restructured.
-
Nah, the point is it seems you have dug deep enough convince yourself this is fair.
It’s really not. Kudos on building a solid team, without this trade it’s going to be hard to stop you. But I mean come on; look at the names in that trade again. If it’s not vetoed so be it, but in fairness of competition, I also hope this can be restructured.
-
Alright...sounds like this got people excited. Cancelling that "controversial" trade, but I am open to offers for Ramirez. Feel free to submit an offer of your own. Would like some younger talent in return, but not too raw that they would be estimated >1 yr from the bigs. Would like to make a deal in the next 5 days or so. Thanks!
-
With the power vested in me by the fact that I am the commish of the league I have canceled the accepted trade between Choo and Sweet Spot. I will be sending a revised trade for Ramirez. If you would like to acquire him, you should send an offer. Sweet Spot will continue to act in his best interest and accept, decline, or counteroffer trades for Ramirez or any of his other guys to give their team the best chance to be successful now and forever more.
-
If you're not winning in '25 then one could argue that Soderstrom at $5 is a better keeper than Judge at $56. Salaries matter.
-
Ya and Soderstrom is better than Judge.
Definitely.
-
One could argue that Freeman at 5.97 this year and 7.13 average his last 3 is better than Ramirez 5.81 this year and 6.46 avg over the last 3.
-
Cortes and De la Cruz are not young and not very good so they can't be the issue. Is a $17 Steer the issue? Is it because I won last year and in first place again the issue? Is it because I thought to put in an offer for Ramirez before you did the issue? What are people's suggestions to tweak the deal to make it better?
-
Not sure how much different this deal is than the Freeman deal that just went through. Bart is 5.34 p/g this year and was 4.5 last year at $1 compared to O'Hoppe at 5.32 this year and 3.95 last year at $6. Vientos age 25 started cold but is 5.21 in his last 9 starts and 5.66 last year at $9. Profar is $6 and was 5.84 last year (only played 4 games this year but will be back before the end of the year). Sykora is a top 100 prospect for $1. Do those 3 and Conforto equal Flaherty and Manzardo?
-
Ooof, didn’t realize it was possible to win the championship in April. Congrats Choo. They said this was like managing a real team… this must be what I feels like to be vs LAD. If anyone else wants to mail it in, feel free to send your packages this way.
-
Agreed, that seems super lopsided.
-
Choo, this is a one-sided trade that skews the power balance even further in our league. It’s not enough of a prospect haul in my opinion, since Sweet Spot is also giving up young players. I encourage you to rework it.

Thought y’all might enjoy this. It’s like what we used to see daily in the actual newspaper!
-
Saul and I have been in since the beginning. I think that is it but if I could be missing someone too. I can't believe this is year 14. Crazy.
-
This will be year 10 for me. 10 years of chasing Choo. I’m just getting warmed up!
-
Wait, 14yrs. Still…
-
I was just thinking….is this really year 15 for this league? Who all is left from that first year? I remember the first year because I was super drunk at the draft and out bid someone for Mike Carp because I knew there was a good young player with a fish for a last name.
-
2 days until the auction. Let's do this thing!
-
Thank you all for re-upping for another season. I think 2025 is going to be a real battle. Good luck to all. Friendly reminder that today is the cut/keeper/trade deadline. By 11:59 pm eastern your team needs to be at or below 40 players and at or below $400.
-
Another friendly reminder to extend your dynasty (pay $20 for your team for 2025) by January 31st. You don't want to lose your team by missing this deadline.
-
I agree. I am loving all of this trading action! It makes this league a whole lot more fun to watch all of you improve your teams.
-
Wow, I don't remember the league ever being this active. An active league = a good league in my opinion. Let's keep it going. Trade/keeper deadline is Friday Jan. 31st at 11:59 eastern. Your roster needs to be below 40 and below $400 with at least $1 available for every roster spot below 40 that you have open (ex. if you have 35 keepers (5 open roster spots) then your max salary is $395 - keeping $1 available for each open roster spot under 40). Good luck to all in 2025!
-
Anyone want Castellanos? I can’t stand that guy, not doing that for another year. Send me an offer. I’ll probably say yes. No big contracts.
-
Friendly reminder - arbitrations ends tomorrow. After arb ends the offseason trade window will open which closes with the keeper deadline at the end of January. Thanks for all that have already completed arb. Good luck to all in 2025.
-
rainkab and grainka5 are now co-managing The Sweet Spot. Welcome to you both. Good luck in 2025!
-
Happy November and day after Halloween everyone! Don't forget about baseball now that the World Series is over - don't forget to complete arbitration by 11/14 (thanks for those that have already completed). Arbitration helps with competitive balance in the league. Happy offseason and good luck to all in 2025.
-
We have a new owner for Sweet Spot - rainkab. I believe rainkab's brother will be joining the ownership group and they will be co-managing the team. Welcome and good luck.
-
I know we have some that are in the eastern time zone so we probably don't want to push it too much later than 7:30 eastern and I know two owners don't get home from school until 4:30 pacific so we can't go any earlier during the week. I think we have a pretty small window of time but if there is a better day during the week please advise, thanks.
-
I've set the proposed auction date - Thursday March 13th at 4:30 pacific, 7:30 eastern. The regular season starts Tuesday March 18th with the Cubs and Dodgers playing in Japan. Normally I would schedule the auction on a weekend but I have potential conflicts the first 2 weekends in March and I don't want to run the auction in Feb - too much time for injuries before the season starts. Post a league comment if that date/time doesn't work so we can ensure that we find a good date/time for all.
-
Great win Choo, congratulations! Fun season everyone, I am looking forward to next year!
-
Congrats on your win, Choo! Very impressive after where your team was last year. Thanks for a great season full of banter and trade offers!
-
Thanks for the great season all. Sweet Spot let me know that they will not be returning next year. I have a lead on a new owner but I will let you all know if it falls through. I hope you all will be back but please let me/the league know if you are not planning on returning next year so we can work to find someone to replace you. Enjoy the MLB playoffs and get ready for arbitration which should start in the middle of Oct.
-
Nice win Choo. I like to think I had you sweating for a minute or 2 there, but you made some great moves and just flat out dominated. Kudos and thanks for setting up the lg this year.
-
With a re-auction of a player, you cut previously, you have held them for at least 30 days with a salary cap "penalty". Maybe you are starting an auction for them because they have awoken from the early season slumber that made you cut them in the first place, and yes you are either hoping someone will take them off your hands or trying to re-activate them and cut another underperforming player. And then there is the salary cap maneuvering.....happens in real life just not as frequentl
-
Hoping someone else will win the auction and relieve you entirely of the salary cap hit or at least you’re cutting the hit in half by re-dropping them. I feel like there should be a rule that you have to keep them for a week or something.
-
Can someone please explain to me what the point is of starting an auction for a player, winning said auction, and then cutting them? I'm sure it has something to do with salary cap, or waivers, or something, but I can't quite figure it out.
