Albuquerque Jackalopes's trade block has been updated!

Thank you for a great auction, everyone. Trades and pick-ups are now open.

Yes, sir. 1:00 EST.
-
Commish - just confirming the draft is this Sunday at 1 EST/Noon CST?

Sorry about the double post. Yes, as a person taking over an abandoned team, I got one round of free cuts. The thought crossed my mind at the time that I should wait to use them until right before the draft, and now I wish I had, but such is life. My roster is now frozen as well, just like everyone else's, and I'll be able to cut Profar on the 2nd or maybe after the auction on the 1st if I want.
-
I believe you're correct Owls

I'm not positive and maybe one of you can check this, but it looks to me like rosters or locked and I can't drop him now if I want to. (Full disclosure, I'm not looking for any special treatment here, just trying to understand how it works). So I think for me, or anybody else, you can't drop any players until after the draft next Sunday. After that point, I could drop $11 Profar, I'd get a $6 penalty, and see if anybody else would pick him up.
-
Rosters should be locked until the auction is complete. This began with the cut-down deadline on 1/31 for existing owners. I am not 100% sure how it works for someone picking up a team, but I think you are allowed one round of free cuts after you take-over the team and then your roster is also frozen..

If someone were to pick him up **pre-draft** the penalty is lifted, right? But if he wasn't picked up and instead was drafted, the penalty would not be lifted? And if the Owls were the team to draft him (say to get him at a cheaper price), he would have to pay the penalty plus the draft price to have him? Is that the way this works?
-
If you cut Profar you'd have the penalty ($6?). If someone were to pick him up, the penalty is lifted.

Lesson learned: When taking over an abandoned team, don't make your penalty free cuts until the day before the draft. Now I have $11 Jurickson Profar! Just so I understand, if I drop Profar now, I'll have a penalty of half his salary, then he could be picked up by any of you at $11 or at cheaper or how would that work? Or does he just go back in the draft? I think I'm going to drop him and take the penalty either way.
-
He is yours and you would get a cap penalty if you cut him. If the guy died if something, there might be an exception though...
-
Just for discussion-- what is the rule if say a 63 guy gets hurt 2 days before the draft? Can yo cut him or do you have to keep him? Lets say he tears his knee up or arm and is done for the year.
-
In addition to adding Chapman back to the Owls, I removed Austin Jackson and Chase Utley from the Dongers. Good luck players!
-
After reading the comments, I decided that I will have to just make a decision that seems fair, knowing that some will not be pleased. Since this is a very competitive league, but ultimately a fun one, I am going to make the cuts and adds requested. If anyone has another transaction, let me know ASAP. Otherwise, we will use the system going forward.
-
once again --- welcome back to all that have been here before and good luck to the new guys ---thanks to Jackalopes for the work he does.... Setting my Iphone this year with morning wakeup cals to change lineups and remember dates.
-
I didn't have to pay when I took over this team in the fall. So I could've made a bunch of moves these past few months and then just dumped my team off to someone else without paying a dime for my carnage. Anyway I just wasn't sure when the past Owls owner joined the league. If his predecessor (now two owners ago) had paid for the 2014 season, then the previous Owls owner would've never had to pony up to join the league.
-
Thank you to everyone who recently renewed their team, there is now only one team that isn't paid-up through the whole year!
-
*had... Stupid autocorrect
-
The Aurora Owls expired, so the current owner bad to pay to renew it, I believe.
-
I would never ask to undo a trade for exactly the reason stated, it messes with another teams roster. My thinking was that when I took over the team, I am allowed to make a round of penalty free cuts which I did yesterday even though the deadline is passed. I had to at least ask if we can undo the cuts the last guy did on his way out the door too. I do understand the idea that you take over the roster you take over. I won't put up a fit eother way.
-
Did his predecessor play/buy-in last year? I agree with JC/Dewon unless the old 'Owls' owner just picked up the team earlier this off-season and just made some moves without ever buying-in for a new year.
-
I kind of agree with Obv Dew Bra. I had no problem with the team that wanted to cut players because his previous owner had not made the deadline. That seems like a glitch that needs correcting.
But I think picking players back UP is a step in the wrong direction. The previous owner might not have made a great decision, but you gotta live with that.

I definitely don't think we should reverse trades since that would affect another team, whereas reversing the drop wouldn't really affect anyone...
-
I'm against doing that because you take over the team that you claim. Shall we undo the Starling Marte trade he made too? My two cents, not the end of the world either way so whatever.
-
Owls would like me to reverse his predecessor's decision to waive Aroldis Chapman. I am inclined to do that. Anyone feel strongly otherwise?
-
Felix was at $47 and Darvish was at $42. They show up as half that amount on the last transaction history line because during the season you would incur that cost as a cap penalty. The penalty does not apply to the upcoming season.
No $5 discount during the draft, that only applies in the vote off format. We use allocations instead.

Another question, looking through transactions, it appears as though my predecessor cut a $21 Yu Darvish. Can any of you explain how that happened? I see that Felix was at $24 and got cut too. Was this through arbitration? So does this mean that I get $5 off of a winning Darvish bid? Please help! Thanks.
-
Welcome New Owls. The answer to your question is the latter. You will be able to see everyone's bids live.
-
Quick question on the auction two weeks from Sunday. I see that for adds during season, the player goes to the highest bidder for $1 more than the second highest bidder. Is the offseason auction blind bid the same way, or is it a more traditional live auction where I throw out a guy for $1, you bid $2, he bids $3, I bid $5, etc.?

Chicago Owls's trade block has been updated!
-
Welcome!
-
Hi all, first time Ottoneu player, so bear with me if I ask stupid questions. Looking forward to this league and my team, although a bit bummed that my predecessor traded Kershaw before I bought the team and moved it from Aurora to Chicago!
-
Everyone else please check the status of your team. I sent out a bunch of messages to teams that are close to expiring...
-
Just noticed that Aurora Owls expired. If you know anyone that wants a (pretty darn good) team, let them know!
-
You were able to cut guys all the way up to January 31, so there was plenty of time. But, if you post a list of guys you want me to cut for you, I can do it. Unfortunately, these leagues are a little of a year-round deal...
-
Believe we could cut people from at least the end of the arbitration period (if not end of season) until Jan 31, so we had months to so that. I think the Commish has special powers to override that and allow you to cut guys and I personally don't mind.

everyone --- hows it going? Not a fan of locked rosters for what seems like 3 months after the season -- so you try to cut guys like utley and jackson and it says cannot be performed --- then a window opens up to cut guys out of the blue and its missed. I understaand its my fault -- again - but why cant someone get cut in November of december?
-
Last minute action. I love it.

Choo tobacco spit's trade block has been updated!
-
I think we are set for 3/1 at 1:00 Eastern. Sorry Choo, but I could barely get people to squeeze it in at 1:00 instead of noon as it is...
-
If a weeknight is actually on the table, the only one I *might* be able to do is that Thursday, Feb. 26. The week after is dicey.
-
I apologize, and have no excuse, but a conflict has arisen for me with the March 1 draft. If it possible to move to a weeknight that week it'd be better for mr. If we're locked in, I'll find someone to cover for me.
-
Albuquerque Jackalopes's trade block has been updated!
-
Alright, I moved the auction time to 1:00 Eastern on 3/1/15. Also, make sure you get your players cut by the deadline this weekend...
-
I'm fine with either time
-
I think it was Hooked on 12-6 Bender that had work problems and needed an early start. Does 1:00 vs. Noon make a difference for anyone other than Philly? It is like a two to three hour affair if people are unfamiliar...
-
Hello everyone! Hi Schwerin - TR is still standing, how's St. Louis?
I would love to have the draft pushed back an hour, but I realize that it's already set. If there's anyway to push it back to one eastern, that'll be great. But if it's a problem, I can make it work.
