24th works for me. No earlier in the evening/afternoon than 6:00 pm EST, if possible.
-
yup
-
3/24 works for me.
-
Sorry, 3/24. How is 6pm EST on Saturday, March 24 for everyone?
-
Do Saturday eves/nights work for the league? Season starts Thurs 3/29, so the Saturday before would be 3/23. We could do early evening, say 6pm, to accommodate our Asia-based owner and keep off of a Sunday that might interfere with our far east owner getting to work on Monday.
-
25th appears to be Sunday, not the 24th. My schedule, the 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th and mid-day the 25th are no good. The 23rd is a tentative date as well. Apologies for lack of availability.

Yep. Sunday mornings and evenings US-time work perfectly.
-
Sunday afternoons have seemed to work well in the past but having an owner in Asia I'd suggest something around 10 am on Sunday March 24th? Or 8pm perhaps? Cy Young, not sure if those meet your time constraints.
-
Well WBC happy if it works BLLB and TLC
-
Agreed on the weekend, especially Sundays... Sundays are perfect for TLC

Most prefer if we can do a friday night through Sunday date for the draft, mid week for me based in Australia doesn't work at all

Consider it the penalty for speaking about yourself in the third person, Bob.

I know there have been a couple comments so far, but when are we looking for a possible auction date?

Piggybacking on the previous comment, I live in Asia, so afternoon drafts (EST) are middle of the night for me. Greatly appreciate if we can do evening or morning auctioning. I don’t have any specific day of the week limitations.
-
Just putting this out there, I'll be out of the country February 24-March 12. It shouldn't put me totally out of commission for drafting during that period, but I would like to know in advance so I can figure out the rest of my schedule. Also, I'm sure like most owners, I have other leagues so the sooner we get a draft date locked in the better.

If you plan on cutting anyone involved in a trade needs time to complete prior. Otherwise you can trade up to the 31st.
-
Apologies, because I ask this every year.....Do trades need to be completed prior to the cut deadline (meaning tonight is the last day for trades)?

Appreciate you guys sharing your opinions on the trade block. I also use it to gauge value. I find it baffling when I inquire about a guy on the block and an owner flatly tells me they're keeping him/they need him for XYZ reason. It perks my interest b/c I would never put a player I fully intend to keep on the block. Everyone I roster could always be had for the right offer, but guys I'm not actively exploring trades for don't sit on my trade block.

I’ve seen a couple trades this offseason where i felt like i offered a better deal than what the person ended up taking... the trade block is all about learning value

I know that i use the trade block to try and gauge value... and a lot of times, there are players that i value a lot higher than what i get offered so it gives me market information on the player...

If they had put him on the block earlier, they’d already have a better sense of value on the player, even if it means they had to bat down some bad offers. An added bonus of putting not just actively shopped players, but guys you think you’d move in a reasonable deal (not in your starting lineup) is you’re less likely to get that feeling of regret when somebody makes a deal for a return you could have beat, but weren’t offered due to assumption non-block players were unavailable.
-
A real peeve of mine is when you think you have a fair deal in place and your trading partner decides to then publicly put out a call for offers on the player. If they come into the negotiation with a sense of what they want for the player/what the league is offering, it’s more likely to lead to a deal than if they have an unreasonable (to me) asking price, or delay negotiations to shop the player around.
-
I’d generally err on the side of putting guys on the block if I could see myself moving them in a reasonable deal, not just when they’re being actively shopped. I had Jon Gray on the block earlier this offseason even though I’m a believer bc I thought the market would value him as a low cost ace. When I found that I was higher on him than the market, I pulled him back, but now I have an idea where opinion on him sits.

Chief Benders's trade block has been updated!
-
Both points made are valid. I've found the trade block much more useful in Ottoneu than home leagues. In home, either the players really are not available or owners never utilize the trade block, leaving no starting point for negotiations.

I couldn't speak for others, but the other side of that I see is that when you put a player on the block, people think you will move them for anything, so end up low balled... and from there trade talks rarely move far
-
Honest question: If you put guys you don't or kind of don't actually want to trade on your trade block, why do you do it? (I'm annoyed but fascinated by this phenomenon, which I see in multiple leagues.)
