Penhook is done.
-
Rizzoto Cheese Weasels is done.
-
Coit Tower Interrupted is done.

If we miss someone on your team or make a mistake otherwise, please advise and thanks in advance for catching it.

over the next few days Snells and I are going to begin rolling back arb, which is likely to be arduous and time consuming and won't be all at once so if you see that other teams have been rolled back and yours has not please know that it's because we've not yet gotten to your team. I'm going to do a bit later tonight if time permits, Snells is going to knock out a bit tomorrow, I'll try to get a bit more done Thurs. Thanks.
-
Yes. Fine with no auto Arb. Also fine either way with owner allocated arb or not.
-
Correct. No arbitration at all. Salaries will hold into next season.
-
Yes - no arb. But quick point of clarification - this also means we do not get $25 to distribute to other teams, correct?
-
Yes - no arbitration
-
Sorry I've gotten swept up at work. Is it safe to assume that we're all on board for no arbitration this year? Simple comment of yes or no please.

Snells and I will go through the task of adjusting.
-
Think Nuke is confused because Arb was applied already.
-
No my intention was and is to have no arb, full stop, this year.
-
OK, so on June 22nd and again on June 23rd the "rules" that were proposed said no salary increases for this year. No $1/$2 increases. Did we decide to forget that one? Grabbed some cheap and not so-cheap young players and veterans planning around those rules.
-
I believe it is on the table to not apply arbitration to minor leaguers, if I miss read that, disregard my last post :)
-
I actually agree with your Betts argument Chicken! I also believe under that logic, that any rostered player should be subject to arbitration in a normal year. I am all for holding off this year. But if the next Mookie Betts is in single A and gets rostered in a normal year for $5. Then he deserves the minor league arb bump of a $1 or $2, or whatever it normally is. So, I am in favor of applying arbitration to minor leaugers in normal years.
-
I'm not in favor of adding a MiLB roster with a snake draft because this is an auction league. Upon their debuts, Mookie Betts and some random relief pitcher are not of the same value in an auction league to be added at the same $1 upon debut. We have roster space to fill out rosters and hold prospects, and one should bid at auction for Betts the prospect (or the next Betts) the way one would for a RP or a star 3B.
-
I'm in favor of the No Arb For Any Player Including The Auto $1/2 that Snells and I discussed and announced in the spring. There have been opt-outs, there have been players (notably on my team Moncada) take nose-dives who have stated that they didn't feel right post-COVID, teams have made weird cut decisions based on a short season, minor leaguers didn't play competitive ball, many guys who should not have debuted this year did, and a host of other issues that make this year an outlier.
-
I'm going to go ahead and make a google response form. Please drop your email or send me a message w/ preferred email if it's different than the one listed on your profile. Just curious to get some feedback on some of the topics that have been brought up.
-
I can put one together and we can consolidate thoughts and concerns and put things up for vote or agreement
-
Do we want to do a google firm survey that covers some of these offseason topics so we can get a sense of how everyone feels?
-
My preference for ML players for this year is:
#1 No arb at all, go forward with the idea of normal arb next year.
#2 Reduce arb by some significant amount because of the shortened season, go forward with 100% next year.
#3 Other ideas to reform arb (at least for this year)?
-
I’m in favor of altering the arbitration overall this year. Maybe we do away with the $1/$2 system arb and allow $1-3 per team to allocate. So there is some adjustment. I’m open to any and all ideas.
-
I thought there was some discussion to not do arb at all this year, as it's a strange year with truncated schedule? I'd be in favor of skipping arb entirely this year, or if people really want it trimming the dollars allocated by 50%. I'm very much in favor of not allowing arb to players until they've completed their rookie years. Still reviewing the other ideas below.
-
I think you can restrict players so that makes sense. I am intrigued by the idea. I'm torn between loving and hating that you have a 40 man roster in addition to the farm system. It makes the league much deeper which I can't decide if I love or hate.
-
It is very fun, but not for every league as it takes some keeping up on fairly obscure MiLB players. It also takes some work on league's part to do MiLB draft and for commish to keep players on MiLB rosters excluded in Otto universe (again the commish in the other league somehow has the rostered MiLB players red in the system).
-
In between MiLB drafts, you can auction a player and put on your 40 man roster and expose him to arb. An example would be say, Josiah Gray was not on any team's MiLB roster after the MiLB draft in Feb. He has an awesome spring training and you want to auction and put on your 40 man. You are allowed to do that. However, after MiLB draft you couldn't put Gray on MiLB roster, only 40 man, even if you only had 8 on MiLB roster. Clear as mud?
-
A team has their 40 man roster and then 10 additional prospects. If one of your 10 prospects gets called up and appears in a game, then he automatically gets moved to 40 man roster and you have to make a spot for him. Or, in weird cases you can drop the prospect penalty free. When your prospect is called up, you then only have 9 prospects and you can't fill that spot until the next MiLB draft.
-
As far as the MiLB draft; does that mean teams can field 40 man rosters in addition to holding 10 prospects? Can a team only hold 10 prospects at once?
-
You can adjust any player's salary. I am all for not assigning any arb to any player but I'm not sure if others mean other owner assigned arb or the $1 system increase as well.
-
The draft is done over message board. This is just an idea. I wasn't sure if Otto will let you not apply arb to MiLB players? I know Chicken didn't want to play for money, but Otto said he had to. That is just an example to show sometimes Otto forces you into doing things a certain way.
-
Yes, offline. Coit would draft first, take a player, we would enter into spreadsheet and then commish would make that player unavailable (I am not sure how this is done, but know the commish in the other league does it). Then the commish can add that player to Coit's roster for $1 when he has his first plate appearance or first inning pitched in MLB. The work would be in the initial draft and getting all players entered into spreadsheet and blocked out.
-
Definitely in favor of no arb for MiLB guys. I'm intrigued by the process you outline, Gambler, but I have to admit I don't follow exactly how it works. Is it all offline?
-
I'd vote in favor of no arb increases for MILB players.
-
Congrats Bob on the win. Nice job.
-
Last post - you can add a prospect at any time if you want to pay for them and don't want to wait for draft. The system can accommodate all this somehow as MiLB players that are drafted are highlighted red to show they owned. But a google spreadsheet is shared for convenience. These MiLB players can also be traded, which adds an interesting element to it.
-
It is a little more work for the commish or maybe another owner would agree to keep the spreadsheet. The draft is done via message board and takes about a week. Each team gets 12 hours to pick. The original draft would be easiest all in one place for an hour probably. In an existing league, prospects already on a team's 40 man would stay there at the current price. Team's could drop a prospect or not keep them and throw them back into MiLB draft.
-
So, I play in another league that does a MiLB roster. Each team gets 10 minor leaguers, when they play their first game, they get activated to the team's 40 man roster for $1. You can also drop that player penalty free if you want to at that point. They hold two MiLB drafts a year, one in Feb. and one in July (or after amateur draft). You can participate if you have an open spot on your MiLB roster or if you want to cut players from it. Order is reverse of standings.
-
Additionally we need to discuss arbitration for this year. The idea was floated of not having arb for prospects and I support this not just this year but going forward. This year though it is particularly vital not to have it IMO since none of those players played a competitive game this year and if anything lost development before they gained it.
-
Reminder: our league requires payment for the following year 10 days after the end of the World Series as we see arb voting as a function of 2021 not 2020. Last day of WS is 10/27, so please be paid up by 11/6, as arb runs 10/15-11/15. If you are not returning please advise so we can fill the spot. If you are not returning and we don't fill you spot by 11/15 I'll ask that you submit arb voting to keep things even, but otherwise please don't allocate arb if you're not returning. Thanks.
-
Congrats on the win, Bob!
-
Congrats to the top three!
-
Nice win BLLB! Tough to get knocked off the pedestal but glad it was by someone doing it the right way, by making in-season adjustments, smart trades, and working the wire
-
I prefer to think of Chicken as someone who didn't have the stones to max out his outfield games played and actually compete for first place because he was already on record as being too cool for this season. But hey, at least you'll have Jordan Weems for next year. Looking forward to the "whoever has Jordan Weems automatically wins the league" rule this offseason.

I prefer to think of it not as second but as the Gentleman's Champ, the best team without a $70 loan to give up 168 points of Blackmon and 137 points of Rosario for 252 of Kershaw, 234 of Rosario, and whatever 100-some points Arenado added before he got hurt. Had I found someone to give me ~300 points of surplus value and the money to cover that value I'd have won outright first.
-
Getting snug for second place!
-
Here's why--and I say this as someone who's going to cash--this season shouldn't be for money: the MLB team with the fewest IP has 70 fewer IP than the team with the most. All these 7 inning DH games--a rule introduced in-season--reduced opportunity for teams. If you have disproportionate Cardinals, Yankees, Phillies, Tigers, you played on an un-level field this year in which you didn't have the same chance to accumulate points as a team that had none of those, and you couldn't plan for that.
-
I’m afraid Chief is cooked he can’t get any more IP and Bob is loaded up with 5 SP tomorrow.
-
Good luck Chief and Bob on these last half week of the season. Looks like it could be a nail biter. The K/9 Unit will be returning next year and hopefully be more competitive year 2!
