I'd like to see the Youtube thing!

I've never actually seen anyone eat a hat and will do my best to keep it that way.

If Hillbilly fails to win the title I will eat one of my Cubs hats and post it on Youtube.

Thanks, Theo, I appreciate it. Really. But I will save the acceptance speech for October 5. There's still a couple of weeks left. '64 Phillies and all.
-
Hey now - don't overlook the race for 7th! Looks like a photo finish! I'm coming after you, Monte! Seriously, congrats to those that will "place" this season. We've got a good group here, and it's been another fun season.
-
Yeah, should be a real close finish. Congrats to Hillbilly for being the first in league history to win two titles, and good luck to you Rotor these final two weeks.

Yes, I'm hoping I can hold on to 2nd place, but Theo could easily win it. His team is much more efficient than mine, overall.

Looks like 2nd and 3rd place will go down to the wire. Good luck to both teams.

Two years ago my predecessor abandoned this team sometime before I took over and it finished in last place in 2013. So, that is anecdotal evidence that it is better to have an active manager than to have a "zombie" team. Anyway, last to third to maybe second? (Maybe third.) Not terrible, right? I just need to work on finishing strong. Or, as my wife likes to say "you need to work on finishing strong" wink wink nudge nudge.

That, by the way, is just about exactly what my team did here last year. In first place starting around May 1st through early September, then total collapse as I hit the cap limits and was passed by Chalupa Batman and Theo, and a third place finish.

Brainiacs Log: My team has been in first place since April 20th, so that's May, June, July and August that you've had to see "Rotor City Brainiacs" at the top of the standings. But I am pretty sure that Hillbilly will pass me up in the next few days. His team is hitting so well lately, it seems like every time my guys hit well and make gains in the Standings, his guys do even better. I predict a second or third place finish for the so-called Brainiacs this season.

Gotta keep the missus happy! Related, I took my wife to a game this year and it couldn't have worked out better- great seats, a couple of sections behind home plate just under the awning when the rain hit, great game. http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=350617117 Really helps selling baseball when things go like that.

Wish I could -- looks like a fun league. But my marriage wouldn't survive fantasy football obsession -- I only get one sport, and baseball is more fun, in my opinion.

Here's a look at our baseball league that I created 5 years ago to give you an idea of who you might be dealing with. http://games.espn.go.com/flb/leagueoffice?leagueId=3232 A great bunch, 9 original members still in the league, started from scratch. I got real lucky as commissioner.
-
My other league, die-hard seamheads, has started up a football league as a diversion this winter. Looking for 2 more. http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/leagueoffice?leagueId=108246&seasonId=2015 If interested, leave your email in my Inbox and I'll forward it to the guy running it.

Hi guys - just took over Captains of Industry. I've got 3 other Otto teams so I am looking to jump in and mix it up before the trading deadline. Send me over any offers if you like, if not I'm sure I'll be sending one to you shortly. Thanks! Rob

I knew, last week, when Felix had his 3HR game, not to chuckle too loud. I did, however, and Lester has paid me back.

Very well. Carry on.

Now this is something I can get behind: comparing superheroes and super villains to dynasty fantasy baseball.
-
It's just a general (super-geeky) observation - not intended to be directed at your team. Thinking about the macro-strategy of trading away star players + cap for cheap prospects or cheap injured or under-performers. Part of the strategy is damaging rivals future seasons, and this is probably really obvious... but occasionally I like to post strategy meditations in this space as I've learned more about ottoneu. (This is my first and only ottoneu experience.) I was just thinking aloud.

Or am I just missing what you're getting at?
-
I fully know that next year my team will likely suck. Other than that, what is your point?
-
In our Dynasty league, the version of that stratagem is the star player plus loan. You give a potential contender NEXT season your best player and a loan to cover costs. It doesn't hurt you because you've already given up on this season. But your target then has to give up expensive players going into next year. You overload your rival with power, causing his or her destruction.

The Parasite is a DC comics super-villain - an enemy of Superman - who siphons energy from Superman and uses it against him. There are other versions of this villain - in Marvel's Squadron Supreme there is a version called "Leech." Leech was defeated by Doctor Spectrum, sort of like Green Lantern, Spectrum uses a power gem to create weapons and fly etc. Anyway, Leech tried to siphon Spectrum's power and Spectrum let him have it... And overloaded Leech's capacity by a lot causing him to explode.

Brainiacs Log: I had an awesome day yesterday, but my lead is so slim and Hillbilly and Theo are so much more efficient at bat, I am pretty sure that I will end up in third place this season. (I wound up in third place last year too.) So while I have a shot at the championship, I am prepping for 2016. I put together my first 2016 planning spreadsheet late last week and am starting to move players around and budget. I think I'll be able to keep the team mostly intact next year.
