Including hits in general isn't ideal, but I think it does result in pitcher rankings that are more true to actual abilities.
-
I can see what you're saying, but the biggest issue with a FIP based system is that it completely discounts quality of contact. We know that quality of contact does matter (line drives are more likely to result in hits, for example).
-
I was actually leaning towards the non-SABR system until I read that article. I found the reasoning unconvincing. The idea seemed to be that the SABR system gives counter-intuitive results, but I think that true player value actually is counter-intuitive

I created a quick little poll regarding the pitching scoring: http://www.freeblogpolls.com/polls/1252091-what-points-system-do-you-prefer

I vote to keep the system where hits _do_ count. If you read the post about why they changed it, I think it makes a lot of sense.

I like the SABR system as well

I like the no hits as well.

So we are doing the new arb system. Are we keeping the same points system or reverting back to the one where hits don't count?

Thanks for the congrats everybody, it was a very fun and competitive season. This is such a great league, I am really excited to see what goes down in the offseason!

I like the new system, which means that no more than four of us are opposed. Consider the new system adopted.

Hey guys, this was just announced, a new arbitration system for Ottoneu. It sounds like its optional, so everybody should read up on it: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/index.php/new-and-improved-ottoneu-arbitration-process/

I'm so happy M's haven't caved and traded him to the Yankees. It's been amazing watching him develop from a pudgy 19 yr old with funny hair to The King.
