Quote from Slack…Advice I would give is don’t play in leagues with Spa and Winnetka. They do this all the time. It's not worth the headache
The simple fact that others in Ottoneu see you both this way should be extremely upsetting.
Let’s talk about integrity! You have traded Luis Patino between your two teams 5x in the last two years. You do the same nonsense every year in all 4 leagues. WTF? It’s a game.
-
You all know I’m right - once you veto the trade, you will either refuse to make any offers or you will make lowball offers. And you will veto any revised deals I make with Winnetka. Essentially sticking me with un-tradable, expensive players I don’t want and preventing me from building my 2023 team. It’ll be fun anyway. But you know It’s true.

and is building for the future, I don't believe there shouldn't be any concern with that issue. To be honest the trade doesn't mean that much to me, really. How much does it really help my roster? Look at my pitching staff. In regards to Story, he is merely depth for me right now until Tatis comes back. Story is averaging about 3.5ppg this year after 5.4ppg last year in Colorado, at $26 there is no trade value there outside a considerable loan.

All I ask is to think twice on how you all would like to set trade voting precedent. Instead of taking the advice or orders from our new owner/commish. I'm not sure how long Raleigh has been in Ottoneu and his experience in trade voting, but typically the guidelines on voting "no" are evidence or strong suspicion of collusion, or that the trade is so egregiously lopsided that it adversely effects the league. Considering that Spa is a long time Ottoneu owner and has won multiple cham

I would definitely do that, but I think the league will have a meltdown. Shop that package around a bit and if nobody can put together a package better than Volpe, then yes I would do that.

The thing that bothers me the most is the attack on our integrity. I'm going to post consecutive messages between Spa and I had over two weeks ago:
Verlander, Story and cash for Volpe? I already know I won’t be invested enough in this league to check my lineup often enough to maximize points. And I don’t have the bench depth or bullpen to compete. I’ll finish between 3rd and 7th no matter what I do.

I like Austin Martin more than Carroll in every aspect aside from handedness. And by the time Marcelo Mayer reaches Boston he will be expensive. He will get $3-$5 arb this winter and more the next winter. He looks great, but do you honestly see him in Boston before June 2024 at the earliest? You know you don’t, even if you can’t bring yourself to admit it.

Long Gone did make a solid offer. But I don’t see Corbin Carroll as having Volpe’s ceiling, and I think Marcelo Mayer is too far from MLB, June 2024 is too long for me. I mentioned I was looking for 2023 value. But I think it’s silly for you to veto deals because you think I could have done better, after nobody offered anything better.

I did make a comparable offer for Woodruff. Different folks would have different opinions on which might be the better offer and that's fair. But Trevor Story was never discussed as being added to the deal. That's just over the top in my opinion and would make my offer for Woodruff much, much better than the one that was accepted.

You all know - none of you would make me a decent offer for Trevor Story. He is at auction price, and has not been hitting well. I am on the fence about cutting Story to free a roster spot. If you honestly wouldn’t give up anything of value for Story, what is the problem?

What a pissy thing to gripe about! I’m in multiple leagues with lots of guys, including some in this league. I used to win league 26 every year, until Winnetka joined and was the beat competition I had. When teams dropped out of his other leagues, I picked them up. I have never met him. I don’t work with him. I’m mot related to him. I know him exclusively from Ottoneu. But I enjoy interacting with him in these leagues.

Including Story is what makes the trade lopsided in my opinion, but I agree that bad trades shouldn’t be vetoed, unless we think there’s collusion. So what’s the deal with you guys being in four different leagues together?
-
Does Spa not have the right to trade veterans for prospects he likes? The league had three weeks to make a better offer.
-
One weeks ago: "Brandon Woodruff is on the trade block, and I have gotten good offers for him. I don’t want to take an offer without making everyone aware Woodruff is available. I’m in last place and have no serious hope of contending this year, so I’m looking for 2023 value. Not looking for 19 year olds in A ball, just guys who should be assets next year."
-
Three weeks ago Spa on the League Message Board: "Full disclosure - I have been getting inquiries about Springer, Woodruff, Montas and others. I’m disappointed in my slow start and considering a partial “rebuild” on the fly, but not a full fire-sale, at least not yet. Looking for quality over quantity - 3 or 4 mediocre players don’t equal a star player."
-
When you veto, I know you guys have the integrity to say what Woodruff’s real trade value is, and the courtesy to say why you didn’t offer that kind of value. The only viable offers I got were from Winnetka and Long Gone.

Each owner please vote your approve or disapprove. I will go with majority. Currently 3 to 4. Thank. I feel only fair way. Most leagues I commish, takes only one third to veto.
And the past is the past. I can't change that.

frequently trade are legitimate. They break no rules. You have to let each owner decide if a trade improves his team. Even if it doesn't fit your idea of how he should. (The Alabama Slammer trade was vetoed and that guy was banned from Ottoneu,)
-
Please explain how this trade is too lopsided, especially compared to the ones that you all rejected.
-
Since this is the first year here for 5 of you (including the commissioner), you don't know about the Alabama Slammer -- Alabama Slammer trade. A guy owned 2 teams in this league (with different email accts). One of his teams traded its good players to the other. That was a trade to veto. But trades we just don't like (especially if we are quite willing to make similar trades ourselves) or trades that alter the balance this year (as do all trades for prospects), or trades between teams that

I understand KC. I’m not quite as high on Melendez and Casas as you are - I like them but I don’t see either as an elite prospect. But I am fine with it - with Volpe and Martin I got the prospects I really wanted.

The difference is you REJECTED it and they have a history of these trades. We all get bad trade offers. I’m vetoing it and encourage others to do the same. It’s a horrible trade plain and simple. I’ve said my part. I’m checking out. Grand scheme of things this is a $20 league.
-
To be fair I don't see much difference between this trade and the trade one of you offered me last weekend-- Melendez, Yorke, Gray and Kirby for Albies and Riley.

Me too. They do this every year in all 4 leagues that they are in together. It’s a joke!

I’ve been discussing trading both Verlander and Story, and I want to make sure anybody who is interested in either or both of them gets a chance to make an offer. The offer I have in hand is for a prospect whom I like a lot. But it’s only fair to see if there are other offers. I’ll hold off until everyone has a chance to think it over. Let me know if you are interested in them.
