I'll bring it up in the slack.
-
I like it too. Ultimately, though, that would be DA’s decision since this is technically his league and he has set the larger framework of rules. That is why we switched from FGPTS to H2H last season. If he wants to go through with a reader team, we can get the process rolling.

Great idea

Spitballing an idea here - might be a nice promo if we made a random lottery on the main site for one lucky reader the exclusive privilege of joining for a season.
-
A competent owner would be good. Let’s give it until next Friday to see if we can get a FG person to take the team. If not, we will have to move to a temporary outside owner. Sound good to you guys?
-
I don't know how competent I am but I'm happy to run the team until someone else comes in -- either by myself or with another owner.
-
If it comes to it, I could recommend a competent owner to steward the club until a new FG writer wants it.

I'm open to whatever. We need to get a 12th owner first, though.
-
I like early drafts... adds a fun wrinkle, less predictable.

Brad's Hand's trade block has been updated!

We've generally done the auction later during a work day.
-
poll might not be a bad idea (like we did in the other staff league). i'm likely(*) or definitely(**) out of commission 2/24(*), 2/28-3/5(**), 3/13-3/18(**), 3/23-3/24(**). but other weekends are fine, as are most weekdays for me, and time of day usually isn't an issue.
-
Once we get a 12th owner for Carson's team, we can set an auction date and time. What is the general thought here? Draft in early spring training, middle or end?
-
When are we voting on a draft day/time?
-
Non-penalty cuts are now closed.
-
Because of the rule change, cuts can continue to be made until Saturday at noon EST. Give names to me, and I will do the cuts for you. Any released players after noon will result in a cap penalty.
-
Nine-game maximum for starting pitchers. The 24-hour rule for trade approval passes.
-
And if any of you has a replacement owner for Carson's team, please let us know. If they're scared off by his team's record and total points, let them know Carson had not been on the site since late June, which skewed his totals.
-
In case we don't get additional votes: It looks like we might meet in the middle and use nine starting pitchers per week. At the moment, we have four people on the eight (or fewer) starts and then three who want 10. Nine seems like a good compromise. If we get four more teams that want eight — or four more that want 10 — then we'd go with the majority. I don't feel comfortable putting the number at eight if the vote continues to look like this. Just wanted to throw that out there.
-
Yes.
-
I'm trying to catch up - so we still have one team open and we're sending in any last minute cuts to the commish?

Cuts sent.
-
Let me know the cuts you need made.
-
Hey guys, really sorry about that - Didn't realize cuts were today!
-
Has anyone heard from Nick? He has not cut players, and he hasn't been on this site since Dec. 30.

Anyone hunting last minute trades, I have Eaton, Devers, Olson, and Semien on the block. Porcello, Heaney, and a few other pitchers too.

Love the votes. Keep 'em coming. And if you know a FG person who'd like to take Carson's team, we should sign them up.
-
i vote for 10

sounds like we'll end up converging on 8 (or maybe 9 as a compromise, not sure how we might handle a lack of majority) which is fine. but also, everyone else please vote?
-
I will move you to 10, then. As of now, we have six votes in. Three teams favor 8, one team favors 7 (but would be OK with 8 or 9) and two teams like 10.
-
i'll be honest, if i knew 10 was an option, i'd have voted for that. not sure it'll matter though. what's the tally so far?
-
Since we seem to be moving toward a significant rule change that won't be settled until tomorrow night: If you need to make cuts past tonight's deadline, I can handle that manually, but all cuts will need to be made by Saturday at noon EST.
-
Also, can the results be announced fairly early tonight so we can make cuts/last minute trades accordingly?

My formal votes are 10 and 24 hours. And if we do choose 8, I reiterate the option of doing it over 2 years for *fairness*

I'm in favor of smaller, in part because it benefits teams that have built strong starting rotations. Mostly, I didn't like last year because I (with a team ravaged by injuries and poor play) was able to have a playoff team simply because I carried 50,000 starting pitchers and hit 13 or 14 starts every week. I'm moving my vote from seven to eight, because seven obviously is not winning.
-
i.e. 14 last year, 10 this year, 8 next year.

I also recommend that if we want to go down to 8, we do it over a period of two seasons. Rosters are currently constructed for 14 starts per week and it's cut day already.

8 is a VERY low cap. That's barely a start per day. It should be like 10 or 12.

i vote for 9 (would be ok with 8, not really ok with 7, but...) and 24

Moved to 8 and 24. Keep the votes coming.

I'm with Lucky Strikes 8 and 24.
-
I vote for an 8 start cap. Also vote for 24 hour trade window process.

Two for seven, one for eight or nine. Anyone else? We can make an official decision on Friday. In the meantime—since it's ahead—I'm setting GS at seven, just in case something locks in.
-
Agree on SP caps. My vote is for 7, but OK with 8 or 9.
-
And we can no reduce trade approval from 48 hours to 24. Do we want to do that? In this league's history, we've never vetoed a trade.
-
Brad had an equally good idea of simply randomizing the divisions.
-
If we go by 2018 cumulative points, this is what the divisions would look like. Thoughts? I went 1 and 12, 2 and 11, 3 and 10, 1 and 9, 2 and 8, 3 and 7, 1 and 6, 2 and 5, 3 and 4.
ONE: Brad's Hand, Team Named, 1-600, Ozuna
TWO: Pollock, Dark Overlord, Lucky, Splitfinger
THREE: Perm, The Very, Huligans, A Little Out
-
My vote would be for either 8 or 9, and I am definitely in favor of some sort of cap over none at all
-
Do we want to do a seven-start cap on starting pitchers? More?
