If we have multiple matchups, that will eliminate any strategy. The championship round will consist of four hitters on that week, if you're simply filling lineups day after day.
-
If I'm beating a team by 300 points on Sunday, I might choose to sit all of my position players, thereby reducing my games played at the season's end and possibly helping give me a full roster during the end of the playoffs. I've definitely done that in the past. If I am facing four teams, I don't have that option. I've sat a player at the last second on Sunday because I was up by a few points and my opponent didn't have anyone playing at night.
-
Agree with Alex on principle. I'd prefer 2-3 matchups/week. Is that an option? I don't see how the multiple matchups per week takes away any strategy. You're shooting for max points, doesn't really matter who you're up against.
-
So.... Vote over the next two weeks (ends Oct. 5): Do you want to stick with H2H as four matchups per week, or do you want to revert back to one matchup per week? We need at least nine votes on this, to make sure we have a supermajority. If we don't get nine, we'll revert back to our original (non-COVID) rules of one matchup per week.
-
We can put it up for a vote. I've enjoyed this (too short) season. My argument against four matchups per week is that it takes the strategy out of H2H. I'm a fan of FGPTS—and wish we would revert back to that—but I think if we're going to do H2H, we should stick to one matchup per week.
-
fwiw (and apropos of nothing) i think this format (four matchups per week) is superior to the status quo (one matchup). unsure if we still have that option available after 2021. i'd prefer to keep it this way, and then playoffs revert back to traditional 1-vs-1

Best of luck to everyone in this season's final week.

Seven trades among eight teams. That's definitely a deadline record. I hope everyone got the players they wanted.

Two hours to trade.

Kris Bryant is available.

Canha and Greinke are available for anyone who wants a 6/PPG hitter and 6/PPI SP.

I updated my trading block. Get at me if you want players who can help you win now.
-
Ozuna and Hendricks still available.
-
Double down and trade for Stanton too? Looking to shop Chapman too.
-
D'oh. My first ever Judge share.
-
Outfielders and pitching available. Judge and Ozuna. Hendricks and Lynn, others.
-
I seem to have a few too many good catcher keepers. Would prefer to move Varsho for anything that helps me more now. Best offer.

Pache supposedly coming up. Still open to moving him for immediate help

Could use an outfielder. Doesn't have to be a star. Got some young, cheap guys like Bart and Madrigal. Could also spare Mondesi.

I'm lightly shopping Harper & Ohtani and have needs all over the place. I'll send some offers out, but feel free to toss a message or offer my way if you don't hear from me.

Best of luck to everyone this season.

If you have rules questions, they’re addressed at the top of this page, with the link that says, “COVID-19 Changes....” As Avon said, a player can only gain positions (or keep the same ones they already have) for the 2021 season. No player will lose eligibility in 2021.
-
No changes this year. Still 5 starts or 10 GP. For next year, no one can LOSE any eligiblity. So players will keep whatever they have now and anything they add this year

Do we have modified (i.e. fewer games) positional eligibility in-season? What about for next season?
-
A reminder that we're going with four matchups per week this season and a full, non-playoff schedule. You set only one lineup per day. We still have a nine-SP limit (again, those are set through one lineup). I'm happy that it looks like we're going to have a season, and I'm glad I get to share it with all of you. Best of luck in this sprint to the championship.
-
A reminder that the trade deadline is Aug. 31.
-
Based on these results, we'll go with no playoffs. I'll make the change now.
-
No playoffs.
-
Neutral
-
Thank you to everyone who has voted so far. I'd like to get a couple more teams before calling this one. If the neutral teams don't mind, I'm going to add those votes into the "no playoffs, 60 games" column since no one has voted directly in favor of a playoff-shortened, regular-season schedule.
-
Also pretty neutral.
-
Neutral on the playoffs, happy with either.
-
Agreed. No playoffs
-
agreed, let's just go with W/L for this year

no playoffs
-
I vote to eliminate playoffs for this season only.
-
Quick vote that will end on Wednesday: Do we want to do playoffs this season, or should we award the champion to the best W-L (and then points tiebreaker)? I ask because it appears that the season would only be 30 games for non-playoff teams. If we do not have playoffs, it would be 60 games. PLEASE VOTE ON THIS. We will do a simple majority vote.
-
Also, a very important note: "We have a OPTOUT distinction for players who have opted out of the 2020 MLB season. If a player has opted out of the 2020 season, teams that roster them will get an extra roster spot. These players will still count against a team’s cap and will have inflation applied and be arbitration-eligible following the 2020 season."
-
FYI, from Niv's note in the link at the top of this page: "In 2020, players can gain position eligibility, but no player will lose position eligibility for 2021. Going into 2021, position eligibility will be based on 2019 and 2020 games played. Assuming a full 2021 MLB season, going into 2022 position eligibility will be based on 2021 games played."
-
We'll go with H2H, four matchups per week, no extra roster spots. Thanks to everyone who responded.
-
I likewise would lean against the additional roster rule idea.
-
I am new here, so feel free to override my votes, but a) I also like the H2H/4 opponents idea and b) I don't think we need extra players

No for me on any extra roster rules.
-
The reserve rules could be something like: The only available players to be drafted are position players with 81 MLB games last season, starters with at least 12 MLB starts, or relievers with at least 30 MLB appearances. The player could only be brought off reserve for COVID, they could not be kept for 2021, they would cost $1, they could not be replaced on the reserve roster or on the 40-man ottoneu roster. If your COVID player returns, the reserve player goes back to reserve. Thoughts?
-
Question to all of you: If a season happens, do you think we should do a second "reserve" draft that includes three rounds of potential replacement players should COVID begin to hit your teams? We can reserve players, based on the ottoneu rules. What do you all think? I'd hate for some $33 star player to get COVID and then the ottoneu team is in the position where they might have to release the player. Or do we let that play out and say too bad if a team has five guys suddenly out?

Thanks, Robert! Looking forward to figuring out this team. I am open for trades, but I don't know who I want to trade or what I want to acquire. So I guess just offer anything? Also, if anyone is super bored at 10 pm ET tonight and wants to watch Justin Vibber and I do a live broadcast of the second half of a first year league draft (league 1199)...uh...I don't have a link, but I can post one later.
