New guys, please fill this out for your draft availability. http://whenisgood.net/xe2xirs We'll have a complete response once we hear back from you two.
-
Hey, we've got a new owner! Welcome, Mr. Tigers.
-
That' fine with me. Looking forward to the new season!!
-
As much as I'd like to saddle Urbina with $11 accidentally spent dollars at the draft, he did email me 15 minutes after the trade was accepted realizing how dumb he was, so I do believe it was a genuine accident. I have no problem with cutting him after the trade.
-
Yea go ahead. I have no problems with it. Plus it's only like 20 min past the deadline.

Thanks for the quick reply, Beck. I also want to add that you should not veto the trade; DJIB deserves to keep Kela as a penalty for my stupidity. I would just use the commissioner tools to manually remove him from my roster.
-
I'm ok with it seeing how the trade was made before the deadline with the intention of dropping Gausman as the motivating factor.
-
Unfortunately, I still have Cueto and when the trade processes in 2 days, I will be past the cut deadline and I will be unable to cut Gausman. Would everyone be okay with me dropping him with the commish tools once it processes? DJIB would keep Kela of course. It was a stupid leap in logic but I will abide by whatever you guys say.
-
So guys, I've made a huge mistake. When I agreed to my trade with DJIB, I had about 5 Cueto offers out. This is what I was referring to when I said "pulling this off" in the comment section: trading Cueto and getting some cap room. The pitching market sucks, so Gausman was meant to be his replacement. And if it didn't work out, I would just cut him and let DJIB keep Kela for his troubles.
-
Anyone interested in Cueto? 100+ games per year in SF, LA, and SD, and the NL West some some putrid offenses too. I would really like an outfielder, but am open to any trade that nets me some better cap room.

Totally agree, CB. It's such a shame we've had to bring in a fourth owner for that team in one season, all because of a relatively minor conflict. Thanks for finding us a new owner, Jason. I've contacted a few potential candidates for Eckstein's team through the owners available forum. I'll make a decision by tomorrow, so if anyone has some friends that might be interested, please let me know ASAP! Otherwise we will go with an outsider.
-
Had the previous owner simply stated his case as to why he should get Duda for nothing I would have agreed. My problem is with the concept of one side receiving something for nothing without any context. Next time, if there is a situation like this simply put iot out on the message board and I'm sure it would be accepted without issue.
-
Also, to keep this on the top of the message board: http://whenisgood.net/xe2xirs
Please fill it out

So, Urbina tried to convince Kole to stick with the league, but in the end he decided to stick with his original decision to abandon the team. We have gotten a new owner who has just taken over that team. To complicate matters, Eckstein will also be leaving us due to a newly busy schedule. If you know anyone who would like to take over what is really a great team, please let either Urbina or DJIB know.
-
Furthermore, there is a real baseball corollary to this fake baseball situation: the Rule 5 draft. This is redistributing talent from a team that does not have the opportunity for the player to a team where he will find playing time. Not a perfect analogy, but it's close enough for me to call this whole thing a wash.
-
While I still don't agree with the concept of trading for nothing, there is some rational behind it. It could be charity on the part of Eckstein, but it could also be trading a keepable asset that he's going to be forced to cut in a week to a rebuilding team in hopes that he doesn't end up hurting him down the stretch. Therefore, it's more valuable to have him on Kole's team instead of on a team that might be competing for the championship later this year.
-
In the meantime, I have created a second account with my work email to "freeze" the team for the time being. This will give us ample time to sort out who will be steering that rudderless ship, as well as what to do with Duda. In the meantime, any questions, concerns, or comments, please let me know. As many of you know, I live in Australia, so I will do my best to respond as quickly as possible. Just keep in mind I don't usually wake up until 2 pm Eastern time.
-
The replacement owner was a friend of some other people in this league, and therefore more likely to stick it out long-term. If he decides to come back, I think it is best that we allow him to keep Duda. It's a minor sacrifice all of us need to agree to, but I think it's worth it to give someone a reason to take on the monumental undertaking of sticking out a season with that roster. But like I said, he is still on the fence and will not get back to me for at least another day.
-
I have been emailing him trying to smooth things over so he will stick around. The underlying problem is essentially this: when there is a revolving door or new owners, often times they will make trades until they either get bored or paint themselves into a corner. In the past few years, we have had possibly a dozen replacement owners, and even some who abandoned their team hours before the draft. This is a problem that will not and cannot be fixed unless we give people some incentive to stay
-
Hi everyone. Just a quick update on what's happening with Kole. His primary point of contention is that there has been discontent with the Duda trade, yet no one said anything when the previous owner made questionable decisions, thereby leaving him in an impossible situation. I understand both sides here. The team he inherited doesn't have many redeeming qualities. And trading a player for nothing is a tool meant to be used in-season, when the other team gets salary relief.
-
To be fair, we have a discussion about weird trades or goings on like this about once a year. CB raises a valid point; a trade is an exchange of goods and services. There is no exchange going back to Eck. But simply counting the votes (Dervish, Kole, Latos, Urbina, Eck) the trade would have went through. On top of that, a Kershaw bidding war could fetch a king's ransom as soon as the draft is over and the salary is paid for.
-
Nevermind - I have been corrected. He wants it to be known that he is okay with sucking with a terrible team. He doesn't like it when people whine over Lucas Duda when the Chris Archer trade was allowed. Either way, I'm not gonna comment any further.
-
Sigh well just to clarify - he's actually more upset about the state of the team more than anything else, I think. He feels like there is no way that team could be competitive in the next ... well... several years and it's an exercise in futility.
-
No need for a vote. I will be giving up ownership of this team. I am not opposed to sucking but to spend $10 on this team in the state that it was left in (that Chris Archer trade was the most atrocious trade I had ever seen) and on top to have people upset over someone tossing me a tiny bone is a bit of a slap in the face.
-
But, as co-commishes, Urbina and I disagree, so I'm willing to put it to a league vote. But I have voted to veto.
-
I'm opposed to the trade from a fundamental standpoint. Trading something for nothing invalidates the purpose of the trade. The option to trade for nothing existing in season because you can trade cap space. It doesn't really matter to me what the return is, I am opposed to the precedent setting nature of trading something for nothing. We've previously disallowed trade backs, which the system doesn't technically disallow.

Dervish'd Eggs's trade block has been updated!
-
I don't have a problem with trades like that during the off season. I wouldn't want to see it go the other way, but we are all able to veto if we don't feel it's fair.
-
Do you know someone else who's willing to take over that garbage team for 10 dollars a year?
I know we don't want to set a precedence, but when I came in last year I was allowed to have more time to make cuts. These trades won't happen after this first offseason anyway.
-
Trades for no return should not be allowed. If an owner doesn't want a player he should be dropped and everyone given a chance to bid at auction.

If anyone is interested in Votto, send me an offer. I am willing to be reasonable (as I have decided to take my team in a slightly different direction of rebuilding)
