wRC Digs the Long Ball's trade block has been updated!
-
Total outs seems to be pretty much covered by IP as a point-scoring category
-
Scoring - in many respects this feels like fantasy baseball from its earliest years (no head-to-head games, no playoffs, tallying total points to determine the winner, etc.). I find it interesting that runs and RBI aren’t included, as well as wins considering that saves and holds are scored. On the the pitching side, I think total outs would be a good category to include. My first impression is that I like it and am going to enjoy this league.

Do we get points off for TOOTBLANs? Thank you, Victor Robles!

Go Blue Jays! Bring up Vladdy Jr!

Go Rockies! Go Red Sox! Which teams do you all cheer for?
-
Happy Opening Day everyone! Go Dodgers!
-
Thanks. It'll be interesting to see how fantasy baseball host sites handle the new IL rules. MLB rule changes (10 day IL) have made it so teams can play freer with roster spots.

Correct. You only get roster slots from the 60 day.
-
Question on the IL slot - that only does you any good (adding a roster spot) if the player is on the 60 day, right? So 10 day, you do not get to add roster spot, correct?

Once you hit 162 games played at a position (810 for outfield) you can now longer start any players at that lineup spot. And 1500 IP is a soft cap. So the day you pass 1500 IP is the last day that you are able to start any pitchers. And you can start 2 catchers on the same day because they typically have more off days, so it lets you better pick and chose matchups if you have a catcher platoon.
-
I am still not clear on the 162 game, 810 game for OF and 1,500 IP limits. How does this work? The rules aren’t dry clear regarding these limits. If at anytime during the season we pass these limits we will be penalized, is that correct? If so, how? If these are hard limits, I don’t see why we would ever start two catchers. You would think you’d want to surpass these limits by fostering the best players that play everyday. Please clarify as I know I’m it the only one struggling wi

Morristown Frackers's trade block has been updated!
-
It's a metaphorical coin. The system randomly picked a winner.
-
Who got to call heads or tails?
-
It's a random draw by the system. No person manually flipped anything
-
Who flipped the coin? When did this happen? There needs to be more transparency.
-
From Rule V.b on https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/rules
"The player will be awarded to the owner who bids the most for the player, with any ties going to the team lower in the standings. If two teams are tied or the regular season has not begun yet, a coin flip will determine who is awarded the player."
-
Just so I have a better understanding of how this all works (clarification I guess), I posted Sal Perez and bid $3 for him. Whiskeytown also bid $3 for him and won. That’s cool, but how is the winner of the auction determined? I posted him and we both bid the same amount. The season hasn’t started, so record can’t be a part of the equation. Please clarify.

Right; that is a big change. Also if you drop a guy, you can't pick him up again for 30 days (per the rules section). I guess they are discouraging streaming behaviors, which I don't mind.

In a world of instantaneous gratification, this league is full of slow, painful processes. 😏 48 hours for trades, 48 hour auctions....

Sorry but I can't find where to look up what the positional requirements are when it comes to the daily lineup
-
Just a heads up that the auction will resume in 10 minutes.
-
I’m not going to lock anyone out for one missed nomination, but if you’re consistently missing them you’re going to be locked out because it isn’t fair if you’re alone in the draft room able to get players with no one else’s able to bid on them.
-
Please don't do that. I'm in NY on business and was willing to stay in tonight to draft, but a rehearsal has been moved and have to draft on iPad while "supervising." I'll do my best but would hate to be penalized when I offered up so many other availabilities. If it proves to difficult and I'm missing nominations, I'll drop out!
-
That might be a bit harsh. Most of us are new to this and I’d hate to see someone start at a huge disadvantage before the league even starts. I suggest locking someone out after two misses. You never know, something legit may happen - kids come say goodnight, microwave catches on fire, police knock on the door, cat vomits on the rug. . . .
-
Ottoneu recommends locking out any team that misses a nomination from the rest of the auction. I didn't turn that on for part 1 because so many of us were new to auctions and ottoneu in general.
-
Not to be naive, but what will be the result of not nominating a player (having not done a baseball /ottoneu auction)?

Part 2 of the auction begins tonight at 8pm Eastern. For this part I will be much more stringent about teams missing their nominations. Don’t miss your nominations.
-
Look forward to seeing everyone online at 8! Thanks for taking another look at your schedules, I appreciate it, sorry for the inconvenience.
-
My wife’s leaving town for work so I can’t start til the kids are down. Figured I’d be pushing it at 8, but no way I can start at 7. Will try to get in as early as I can, but no promises. Sorry. I’m okay with a third day option if need be.
-
thanks for considering an early start, hopefully that works for everyone... I'm also working with scheduling to try to get a later flight, nothing yet but I'm hoping a seat on a later flight opens up so I can stay up with y'all till the end...
-
I imagine it will go faster with gradually fewer bids on cheaper players...and I doubt everyone will decide they want to fill all 40 spots. I guess we just see where we are at late in the evening.
-
The only other evening that I am free is Saturday after 6:00 CST. I am umpiring games every evening this week with a doubleheader Saturday day and every evening next week starting on Monday. so, Sat and Sun are it for me.
-
I am good for a 7 pm start. I think we should explore adding a third day, after Sunday (but before Thursday) as well. We only got through 153 players last time and ~480 need to go for full rosters.
-
I can start an hour earlier, 7pm ET if needed.
-
I'm fine with resuming the auction an hour earlier. Does that time not work for anyone?
And it is correct that at the end of the draft a few or even one team will be the only one left nominating and bidding on players. That's why I'm going to be much more stringent about people not skipping their turn for nominations.
-
I can start an hour earlier (7:00 EST/6:00 CST - my time zone). I can go as late as everyone wants. If I understand the rules, the draft doesn’t end until everyone has checked out (that they are done), correct? So, one or two teams could still be drafting even after others have finished.
