Matt Moore now has a 115/25 K/BB ratio. And he's only faced 351 batters. Tampa really needs to move him up to AAA, might be ready for a June callup next season.

Done with that too! My excel skills aren't good enough to allow the graph to be sortable between seasons, but as long as you only sort within 2010 or within 2002, etc, the new spreadsheet should stay functional.

Just updated it to include wRA/PA- and wRA/9- for 2010, working on including that for all 8 seasons of data.

I think Blanton made my all-fat team. I can't remember who the entire pitching staff was composed of. CC and Bartolo Colon were most certainly members, however

And I'm actually just trying clear $1 off his cap penalty, because I did draft him originally. As for Bastardo (great name, uh?) I'm actually a RP short right now, so I could use a guy getting late inning work.

Haha, I was playing along with the Blanton/Bastardo stuff. In the Phils blogosphere, it's popular to make fun of Blanton being fat, or somewhat round, so I was just playing.

Also, have wRA per PA, and wRA/9, which would be "weighted runs allowed per 9 innings", so it's calculated exactly like ERA, but instead of earned runs, it uses wRC.

I finished the first draft of my wRC Against spreadsheet for pitchers (has 2002-2010 seasons, all pitchers with over 100IP in a season). Basically, it's wRC allowed applied in reverse to a pitcher, so higher wRA (my new stat!) is bad.

I can't find a link to it. I think it's provided as-is for now, since this is the first season Ottoneu has been offered. Probably be getting a lot more features during the offseason.

Does anyone know how to navigate to the avg prices page? Not what the link is, but how to actually navigate (point and click style) there? I've always wondered if there are other tools/lists available wherever this link is found.

What's it going to take for the Rays to promote Matt Moore? 33.4 K% to a 7.5 BB%, and has a sub 1.00 WHIP through 77.2 IP.

The White Sox looked pretty good, but I couldn't tell if it was just terrible pitching (quite possible) or legitimately good hitting. It was a fairly miserably played game.

Yeah, that has to be frustrating about Delgado. He's a good prospect, but there's a real chance he's not a regular in Atalanta until 2013, by which time his salary will already be $5.

Will definitely be sitting Randall Delgado today for his spot start against the Rangers in place of Tommy Hanson. Also guessing he's the one who broke picksix this morning.

I brought up the idea to Niv about adding a "points per lineup slot" to the reports page, so we can get better info about how each spot in our lineup is performing, but that likely isn't going to be till post All-Star Break.

Then multiply that rate out to assume everyone will reach the 162gm / 1500 IP cap.

All I really do is pull the cumulative stat line for each team, then calculate how many points they've scored over games played / IPs

I'm guessing that Grudge's pace-scoring calculations might have this info, but I haven't checked recently.

Thanks for the tips guys. When I asked, I was wondering about the torrid pace that Homersapiens is now setting. He's also behind the pace on IP, so I was doing some back-of-the-envelope calculations to see where he might be.

But like he said, play the SP matchups to get those 1,000 or so IP. And if you're also lucky like I have been, you get a ridiculous 5.6 P/IP from your pitchers.
Bunt Cake on
June 16, 2011 8:36 AM

Those estimates may be a little lower than what we see in reality, but of course you can't really count on pitchers of any kind to stay healthy.
Bunt Cake on
June 16, 2011 8:34 AM

I'll second Grudge. Expect around 8 per IP from a top closer and more like 5 for an elite SP. You can try to pack in as many quality relief innings as possible, but that will only get you 400-500 IP, so it takes 6 or so full SP seasons to max out IP.
Bunt Cake on
June 16, 2011 8:33 AM

As you get further into the season, be less picky about pitching matchups, try to get slightly ahead of the IP pace, then let RPs finish out your innings limits for you at the end of the season (and your elite Halladay/Lincecum/Felix type starters)
Quasi Muto on
June 15, 2011 7:52 PM

Personal opinion on maximizing points: Get as many IPs as you can from closers / elite holds pitchers, skip bad starts for your middle-tier starters, don't use back-end starters except in elite matchups (@SD, @MIN, @SEA, etc).
Quasi Muto on
June 15, 2011 7:51 PM

24 starters top 5 P/IP, with 6 of those 24 having made less than 10 starts.
Quasi Muto on
June 15, 2011 7:49 PM

Almost no starters top 5 points per IP. Almost all holds/saves guys do. You know that my spreadsheet has all of this data and more, right?
Quasi Muto on

Wow, I didn't know you could look at each teams' P/G and P/IP in the standings. So yeah, 4.5-5.5, or thereabouts.

What do you guys think the average IP is worth? Like ~6 points for starters? Maybe 8-9 for set up or closers?
