Draft is taking place tomorrow (Saturday 10/29) at 12pm ET in our Slack channel. They are choosing the draft route instead of the auction, for simplicity.

Welcome to both of you!

Hi all.
-
We have our replacements. Please welcome Pat and Miguel (@pmacho and @miguel on Slack). I will be giving them the keys to their teams in just a moment, and I will post the time of their draft/auction for anyone who wants to follow along, once we work that out. In the meantime, you can feel free to allocate to other teams.

Still working on replacements. If you want to go ahead and put in a placeholder, that will be fine.

Have I been replaced or do I need to do arbitration on behalf of my future owner?

I'm good with that.

My goal will be to complete the draft/auction ASAP so that it will not affect arbitration (which begins on the 15th). If it drags out beyond that date, I ask that you hold off allocating to those teams until the draft is complete.

I don't think an auction is overly complicated, and it would give the new owners a little extra control in choosing the players they want. This will mostly be of interest to the incoming owners—I figure you guys will be OK as long as we use some kind of equitable method for dividing up the players. If you object, let me know ASAP, as I am about to start recruiting the new owners with this in mind.

I received a response from everyone but Los Tigres, who will be removed due to inactivity, along with Earl Stonham. Since we are replacing two owners, that will invoke our draft procedure. I would like to give new recruits the option of using an auction rather than a snake draft for dividing up players. I wrote a procedure for that here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SUPxu0CPUh5GppxiIStKKk5QevaAIwqiKqYpxR_ww9Q/.

I'm going to count Young Guns' post below as our first confirmation. Earl Stonham is already leaving, and Chris and I are staying, so that's nine other owners I would like to hear from between now and Tuesday. Thanks for your help! —John

Please send me this message by next Tuesday 10/11/16. If you wish to post here, that's fine, although a private message or Slack DM (@jfwiii) works too. If a draft is necessary, we'll try to get it out of the way ASAP so we can begin arbitration allocations in a timely manner.

So, I'm going to ask that EVERYONE send me a message indicating your desire to continue with your team in 2017. This way our ownership will hopefully be settled by the time we begin arbitration.

Because of this, I would like to be doubly sure whether everyone is staying or leaving. I prefer to avoid a situation where we have a draft now, only to have more owners choose to leave after arbitration. (We will deal with it if that happens, but I would not want to re-draft in that case, unless of course more than one person leaves at that time.)

It occurred to me that if we have multiple owners leaving the league, that would theoretically invoke our draft procedure for dividing up players on vacated teams (rather than handing the teams over as-is).

Can't speak for the others, but it was mostly price enforcement on our part.

I wanted Drury and Liriano, but hoped no one else was really bidding on them.
-
how many of those bids were in earnest and how many were just price enforcement?
-
Earl Stonham Green Sox is bidding us farewell. I will give it a day or two before beginning a replacement search, in case others are calling it quits too. If anyone has any feedback in the meantime, feel free to post here or in our Slack channel.

It looks like most teams remained active through the final weekend. Some were not, and I'll be sending emails to those owners asking you to confirm your continued interest in the league. Keep an eye on your ottoneu email address and get back to me ASAP if you receive such a notice.

Thanks. Arbitration begins in mid-October (not sure exact date), so the off-season is imminent. If anyone is not planning to continue in 2017, let me know so that I can find a replacement owner before the end of arbitration. Good luck to everyone who has rooting interests in the postseason—it should be fun to watch.

As a fellow Mets fan, I hope you're right, but to justify trading away Correa at that price, he'd have to be a top 5 pitcher, not a guy coming off major surgery whose best season to date is still closer to replacement level than it was to the top-tier.

I think on most teams a healthy Wheeler is a #1 or #2 starter. I think Zack has a bright future and with Harvey going down and Matz' potential shoulder/arm problems, Wheeler will be a big part of the Mets moving forward as soon as he's healthy.
-
I probably wouldn't keep either Wheeler or Cashner at those prices, and Correa has to be well over $20 under his value, but I'm glad you had a reason and gave it to us.

That is amazing. I withdraw my complaint. Trade on.
-
I didn't mean to cause a lot of people to get upset by the trade. Yes, I am a Mets fan and would like a couple of the Mets starters on my team. I'll say this, if I had to draft a new team today and I had a choice between Correa and Zack Wheeler, I'd take Wheeler in a second over Correa. I've been competitive in just about every yahoo league that I've played in.
-
Of even greater concern to me is that upon joining a completely new (and quite different) format he's decided within a matter of hours to move some of his most valuable assets. Surely any experienced fantasy player would take some time to become accustomed to the league nuances and player values?
-
I think the deal stinks and I vetoed before I even saw these messages.
