I think the idea of receiving money to offset arbitration based on end of season placement is interesting. The awards is also interesting so I’m open to changes that reward players for winning awards
-
I prefer to keep the draft/keeper process as is for reasons Santa Fe mentioned.
The award system is intriguing though, and I would be okay with implementing something where players that win awards get a tiny salary reduction.
-
"In the event of a tie, the tied teams will all be awarded the coupon value associated with their place in the standings and other coupon awards will not be affected."
This could be used in conjunction with the awards. Of course we could try something totally different!!
Any more ideas floating around out there?
-
I like the idea proposed about the awards. If your player wins something then you can reduce his salary by some amount. Another idea that a different league uses is "To incentivize competition, teams finishing the year in 2nd through 10th place in the official league standings will be awarded the following coupon values: 2nd place $3; 3rd place $6; 4th place $12; 5th place $9; 6th place $9; 7th place $6; 8th place $6; 9th place $3; 10th place $3."

I agree with the buy-in. $50 is high enough for this league.
What type of scoring changes could be made? Are you talking losing points for a batter striking out...those kinds of scoring changes? This is just an example.
I need to think about an expansion draft. One of the things I like about this league is that you have $400 to do with what you want. If you want a new time every year, you can do that. If you want to keep all your players you can do that as well.
-
I'm less inclined to raise the buy-in. I think $50 is more than enough for this kind of league and don't want to expand everyone's spending just to play. Open to rules changes, although I think for the most part the scoring is fine. But definitely open to any rules suggestions or scoring format ideas. I'm talking all the way up to like, an "expansion draft" style thing where we only keep x players and everyone goes back into the pool. Like a Thanos snap that's like a 90% reset or somet
-
Also, in terms of spicing things up, we previously talked about some kind of coupon system or something of the kind to reward owners that have players that earned awards or something. This still interests me to a degree and I'm willing to track things in an Excel sheet if we agree on it. Then we can vote on parameters.
Something like AL/NL MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year. And maybe something for prospects? Like perhaps if a prospect is a Top 50 by x outlet we have a formula. Just

Friendly reminder that we're in arbitration season. You have until November 14 to allocate your arbitration dollars. During this time, if anyone has any suggestions on changes to the league - please feel free to post it here or email me. As always, open to changes and anything that makes the league more engaging or competitive.
Additionally, if you're not interested in returning next season please let me know as soon as you can.
-
I believe there is a free cut time. Either October or November if I remember correctly
-
Good job, Marble.
Is there a free-cuts period, or was that just for the one offseason? Asking for a friend.

Thank you!

Congratulations Marble!!! An amazing team. An amazing manager. Great championship run.

Friendly reminder that the trade deadline is Wednesday.

$22 bid for Baty?!
-
Trout is ready to carry some teams through the playoffs. Let me know if you're interested
-
Anyone want some Tatis sauce with their playoff hopes? Lets talk.
-
I can't and won't ever speak for other owners, but this league has always been trade adverse which makes excess cap space nearly useless. So dropping big dollars on free agents, especially pushing into playoffs, is really the only use of salary. There's going to be a ton of "overpay" for free agents at this point.
-
Can I ask what just happened with Grissom? $18 for him seems insane
-
I've had a few owners ask about Musgrove so figure I can just post status in here. Considering his output last two seasons + his salary ($7), I'd rate him as one of the best deals in the league at SP. So you'd have to blow me away to get me even considering trading him. I'm always open to discussing but just know the asking price will be obscene.
Open to discussing trades for most others on my team.
-
I appreciate getting called out on a deal that possibly should have gone differently. It helps me understand player value better
-
True, the veto process is the best way to object to a deal. Majority is fine with it, so it’s all good. Thanks to Dew It for posting his motives for the deal.

No I'm just a terrible commish that forgot about it lmao. I guess if anything this can serve as a reminder that there IS a veto system.
-
I thought we had a veto system for trades. There were 2 vetos and 10 abstained for the trade in question. Is there another method to vote on trades?
-
I am fine with it the way it is. Everyone values players differently. As long as both sides like what they are getting, then i see no issue with a deal.
I would say that if an owner hasn’t been active in a couple months that we make sure they don’t just give players away though.
-
I was a part of a goofy looking trade within the last couple years myself. I sent a big proposal hoping for negotiating and it was accepted unexpectedly. So I've been on both sides. This one is a head scratcher because of how close the teams were and the deal looks like a big win for one side. We could potentially move into a veto system for trades if everyone wants it moving forward after this season.
-
Also I should probably comment on the trade as Commish. I had my own questions about it. I could understand a Fried for Soto package to a degree, but the team receiving Soto also receiving two solid SP in return while the team giving up Soto gets a junk RP and SP arguably worse than the 2 given up has me scratching my head. But, owning Trout and Soto and flipping one for an elite SP makes sense. The return ends up looking light but I can see a path to it happening.
-
Glut of SP that I can deal from. Would love to consolidate and get some better positional depth and maybe a better bullpen arm as well. If you're looking for bottom of the rotation arms or depth and have RP or bench pieces you're heavy on maybe we can match up.
-
Anyone know if battletank will be checking in before the end of the year?
-
I’m fairly new to baseball in general so I may not have made the best deal possible but I liked what I was getting. Being 30 behind Cruz didn’t matter much when I was 600 behind 6th
-
I agree. I’m just stating how the prospects going back for Soto formed the deal in real life and should of been some sort of reference for fantasy. You made an incredible deal, good on you.

And I’m not sure real life correlates to fantasy baseball perfectly. Several people with real life value (defensive minded guys) have no fantasy value
-
For what it’s worth he sent me the final deal. I think he really liked the pitching he got backr
-
Appreciate the process you went through to make the deal and I can see why you were eager to get something done but I don’t see the what the motivation was for Dew It to move a top 5 player when he was 30 pts behind you at the time of the deal. The template for a deal was formed in real life when Soto was traded to San Diego. Top prospect(s) should of been included in the return for Dew It imo.

I don’t know how you view it but I assure you it was bargained over many messages.
-
I'd agree with that.

That Soto trade in this league was a little puzzling IMO. Had to say it.

Trout and Soto are both up for trading as well
-
If any contenders are looking to add a pretty good bat, Gary Sanchez and Brandon Nimmo are on the table.
-
Would love to add a pitcher down the stretch. Give me a shout!
-
My team refuses to stay healthy. Every time I get some momentum someone else gets hurt and this team just doesn't generate points at all.
I'm officially open for business. Entire team. I'm not just selling off parts for nothing but for the first time I'm willing to listen on every single player I have.
-
I'm late to this as well but I think Infant's stance is "why pick someone up and then drop him a couple of days later when it's just wasting cap space long-term?" It's a question of picking up someone short-term and having them still hurt your cap long-term.
-
I am a bit late to the post, but cutting the $3 players gives you a dollar back and then you only have $2 against your cap space instead of the initial $3 when they were on your team
-
That doesn't make sense to me. If I add a player for $3 and then cut them right away it costs me $2, so I'm literally hurting myself. Some teams do that a bunch. I don't understand why lol. Am I missing something?
-
It's away of freeing up cap space.
-
Lol what's with all the "add player then immediately drop them" that we've seen in this league the last year and a half or so? It's weird.
-
@Cruz hope everything is well! You should be fine if you're in and out but at the same time, post-draft there's always a healthy number of guys left that can be picked up so I think you'll end up just fine.
-
Hey guys I had an emergency come up so I may be off on and at best for the draft. Y’all go ahead without me if I can’t make it.
-
I'm way more excited than I should be for a guy with only five spots to fill lol
