I need help, think I'm on a dynasty destructive path, traded Biggio, Adell and May in the same week.....nah just joking gut a bunch of players I like (Soler, Abreu, Casty, Santana (a little less) and a few SP). The future will say...........this is fun......... I think

After reading all of your comments, my turn to give my input on my trade with Beliebers. First of all, I am not a big fan of Adell (I know I'm going against all experts but that's what I feel, we will see in the future....where is the speed.....where is the power). On the other hand, I really love Casty. Actually, I should of kept my stand on the 4th player that I asked for in this trade. May / Adell for Casty, Gonsolin and Santana.....hum, would I do it again, probably but for one more guy

And agree overall, more communication can help. But it's ultimately going to come down to individual engagement mixed with personal quantitative/qualitative assessments. Will always be challenging to get consensus on value but good to point out ways to improve the league and make it more competitive for future moves.
-
Discussion around the trade is definitely good. And if someone felt it was veto-worthy I wouldn't have issues. The different valuations/preferences are important in making trades happen though (and keeping the league fun) otherwise we'd all be trying to win the same way. The majority of trades as one off transactions don't really shift the league in significant ways and are almost impossible to evaluate real time anyways. I could see the Casty side out earning my return this season.
-
Jeff/Drew, your suggestion is really a good one. We could solve a lot of these issues if we all used the trade block to signal the league when we are taking offers on a key asset (e.g., Jo Adell). Everyone uses the trade block a little differently (if at all). But perhaps we could flag players that we are actively taking offers on with an asterisk (*), or use the general notes at the top of their trade block post…? I think we should strongly encourage this type of communication. Thoughts...?

I'm probably being unnecessarily salty because I highly value Jo Adell and Dustin May and it's my own fault for not acquiring them. But I do think it's nice to have at least some critical evaluation of trades as well.
-
as commissioners, we definitely appreciate the active discussion on the message board. like prospect theory started to get at, we don't want to get in the habit of vetoing trades as we never want to discourage moves. i think moving forward we just encourage more intra-league communication and feedback on proposals so that teams do know what the market for a player is like.
-
I’m not one to complain on trades, and don’t believe in vetoing unless truly egregious. But I’d be lying if I said my stomach didn’t sink when I saw that trade. Let’s be honest, many of us would have given a lot more surplus value to land Jo Adell at $9--but we didn’t offer. And again, Adam, well done. You’ve exhibited some mad skills on trading for talent. It’s just discouraging to those of us chasing you, that’s all…

I own a $25 casty in two other leagues and if I get that type of return for him i'll be the first to let you know.
-
It's fine, I don't mean to sound like a dick. I'm just trying to point out that lopsided offers move leagues in the wrong direction and think it's worth offering feedback when I see a deal i think is quite lopsided. I guarantee if you move adell and may separately you'd get more in return.
-
Casty has been a top 20 outfielder one time. And had 8 ppg with the cubs over 50 games, if you think he's going to be 7 ppg next year the deal is ok. If he's 6 ppg you're basically giving up two really good assets for the type of player that can be found in the auction without giving up two of your best assets.
-
I don’t think it’s that bad

Fair enough, I can see it that way. Just pointing out other perspectives, particularly it's not a given that prospects realize potential and that if you want to pull your competitive window up this may not be so awful a trade if it addresses needs. Also had quite a bit of interest in Casty from other leaguemates.
-
If you think danny santana is going to be that again get me some of what you're drinking.
Basically you just traded a good OF probably market price who had his best season ever for two really good assets for the next 3 years. I think any of the other teams in this league would take your side in a heartbeat. Even when considering league dynamics.
-
I think our league dynamics come into play here a bit. Casty may not have huge surplus, but he's somewhat underrated as a top 20 OF and is a consistent performer in his prime (16th in total points, surprisingly shallow position). Santana is a useful piece if he can repeat at even 5 PPG. Adell looks awesome, but $9 for a prospect who isn't in the majors yet. May is a solid prospect as well but also fairly unproven. I wouldn't necessarily call it an awful trade, just depends on needs/perspective.
-
Beliebers comes out way on top on that. You need to shed salary and just got two of the best young players in the game at surplus. Casty is fine but not at a surply. Danny Santana is coming off a career year and has no ceiling compared to Adell and May. And then Gonsolin at 10 is just a straight up cut.
-
In which regards? Constructive feedback please...
-
That's an awful trade.

Hey all, happy post-arb offseason! We are looking forward to an active offseason of trading. Just to give some guidance: planning to do our offseason MiLB draft after the January Keeper deadline, but before our real draft which will once again be in Feb/March (only one session needed this time). Just as an FYI, the January 31 cut date will also act as our MiLB cut deadline. As always hit us up with questions, but more importantly hit us with trade proposals :)
-
Reminder to everyone to get their arb finalized by Thursday!
-
Thanks for all the good work you guys did

It's official. All of the managers from season 1 will be returning for season 2 of Bat Flips Encouraged! That's probably not something that happens too often, so thanks for everyone being committed to the league and we look forward to a fun and active offseason after the arb period ends. Now enjoy game 7, get your arb dollars spent, then get the trade proposals ready!
-
I'm in, can't abandon my selling everything for next year team!
-
I'll be back.
-
If any teams are not planning to return for next season, please let us know ASAP as we will need to find new managers prior to the arb process. Thanks!
-
Congrats to the Adam, Mike, and Nate for taking the top 3 spots in Season 1 of Bat Flips Encouraged. As Drew mentioned, there were some hiccups this year and I want you to know those were all him (kidding). Thanks for being patient with us as we learn how to build this new league. We want to make this last a long time and one that people continue to enjoy each year. We are open to hearing feedback over the offseason, just don't be too mean bc Drew and I are sensitive :) - Jeff
-
Thanks to everyone for their continued participation, activity, and involvement throughout the season! It was my first time being commissioner, and while there were some hiccups, I really enjoyed it and look forward to another fun season next year. Appreciate everyone's patience through the season. Looking forward to an exciting offseason!

Thank you thank you. And congrats to Jersey and Uncertain. I think a serious shout out to the commissioners is deserved right now, really fun season and excellent job putting together and managing the league! Also, great job across the league, everyone stayed competitive and active to the end. I think we had one of the best spreads in Otto. Looking forward to an active offseason and taking on all you challengers again in 2020...
